Rb25 Turbo Upgrade, All Dyno Results
jrm replied to Nacho Vidal's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Previously ran 182rwkw, untuned. Fitted a high-flow turbo, and nismo 480cc injectors, and tuned at Willall by Martin to 245.5rwkw. Pretty stoked with the results. 1998 R34 GTT RB25DET 3" Turbo-back exhaust, high-flow cat K&N Panel filter in stock airbox Blitz return-flow intercooler nistune ECU Standard AFM nismo 480cc injectors nismo fuel pump Yellowjacket Coilpacks IRIWAY7 sparkplugs Highflow turbo of unknown origins R32 10PSI actuator + R34 factory boost control -
I thought it was worth taking some more pictures of my car. It's been a 5-year labor of love, and I'm nearly at the end-goal of my original modification plans. The spot in Port Adelaide is a popular one with people taking pictures of their cars. I have previous pictures of my car there, both day & night - and it was time to take some more. That photo was taken by my other half with a 50mm prime lense on a Pentax K7 DSLR - the depth of field came out really well and gives it that almost 'miniature' look. Unfortunately the plates themselves have a few extra letters at the front which have been photoshopped out. Second picture we captured that day - closer to the water:

Main engine/performance modifications are 3" turbo-back exhaust, Blitz intercooler, nismo 480cc injectors, and a high-flow turbo I picked up second hand (don't know the full specs). Turbo has a 10psi actuator on it, and is using the factory boost control via nistune (which brings it a little over 12psi). Martin seemed very surprised at how well the turbo came onto boost, etc. Dyno sheet:

Car tuned at Willall this morning - 245.5rwkw at just over 12psi. Pretty stoked with the result..

Just fitted a nismo strut brace to my car, so I have two items for sale: - R34 front strut brace :: $20 - R33/34 Cusco Brake Cylinder stopper :: $60

34PSI sounds incredibly low to me - what you'd expect on a 185/60R14 or something. When I get new tyres fitted, I always ask the staff what pressures to put in. Typically the lower the sidewall, the higher the pressures they're recommending. 40PSI sounds pretty normal for a 265/30 to me.
-
Not sure what you mean by 'factory tuned', but for comparison I got 182.7rwkw when fitted with a 3" turbo-back exhaust/high-flow cat, Blitz return-flow FMIC with factory boost control on my R34 GT-T Sedan.

I gotta say - don't bother getting the nismo wheel valve caps. I had mine on about a week before they were stolen. I'd only thrown them on after I'd chucked them in on order from RHD with other stuff because they were so cheap - and thought they might set off the LMGT4 and nismo wheel nuts. Ah well.
-
My LMGT4 are +30 front & +38 rear too. During accident repair I had them roll the rears, but there's plenty of room there with 255's even without - I just figured 'what the hell'. However, even with 225 on the front I get some scrubbing - particularly on full lock, turning in driveways, etc. My car isn't super-low but I've been pondering raising the front to try and reduce the scrubbing some. I would imagine it would be worse with 235, but I guess you can always try it out. It will depend how low it is, obviously.
-
I have LMGT4 8.5 and 9.5 too. I went Bridgestone Potenza S001 225/40 on the front and 255/35 on the rear - handles amazingly Best thing about this size is it nearly perfectly matches the factory sizes, so no issues with speedometer being out, etc.
-
That's not any sort of nismo front bumper - it is the altia bumper, as you have surmised. A nismo s-tune aero bar looks like this: I've seen both the nismo s-tune aero and the nissan altia bar for sale at Japanese Import Spares before - so it may be worth giving them a call.

R34 RB25DET/Neo OP6 Turbo Minimal shaft play, car was running without issues/smoke/etc Car was running 10psi boost with no issues Only removed due to installing high-flow Came off motor with 110k on odometer $400 ONO

Punching your 97.6mph trap speed into a drag strip calculator - to only have ~130rwkw you would need to be weighing around 1315kg - the 300zx non-turbo (from my googling around) is around 1460kg without a driver. That's not an insignificant weight difference. Not questioning you - just curious

I'll give GSL Rallysport a shot. I cant remember if they're the mob I got my QFMs through or my RDAs - but I've definitely bought stuff from them before. I did find these ones on eBay - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/150477253998 (they also do a fitting kit http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/130521829126) - so that's my last option if I can't find anyone who's reasonably priced locally. Thanks guys - you all rock

Nope, handbrake shoes - as I said. Pads are great, already have QFM pads on there for a few years now - I love 'em Gonna give JIS a call now - thanks for the tip there Pete. I've found some places online in the UK selling drift ones, but I'd prefer to not wait that long (and I don't need anything special). Judging by how worn they are, I'm guessing they're still the original handbrake shoes that came with the car. Edit: Just tried JIS - no luck. Apparently they usually stock Project Mu, but none available at the moment Who'da thought handbrake shoes would be such a pain?

Anyone know a good source for brake shoes for an R34 GTT? I tried Nissan Australia and they wanted $330+ for the pair, local brake guy tried a few places and didn't have a lot of luck.

Have 3 gauge holder .. only part left from thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/375861-sa-various-r34-parts/

I have absolutely no personal knowledge or insight - but googling around it looks like it could be a lubricant additive in your oil - http://www.bobistheo...e-oil-analysis/ Looking a bit further, I found http://www.exxonmobi...UsedOilEval.pdf which talks about oil analysis, and mentions some negative reasons for titanium in oil tests: Don't think this is relevant for RB2X engines. The last reference I found at http://www.lube-tips.com/focus/2006_08_30.htm Anyway, hope I've found something useful.

It was around 10 days before the expiation notice number was accepted on their website last time I got issued a fine (albeit, not for speeding). I tried giving them a call, because I'd been concerned - and they told me to keep waiting and that it could be two or more weeks.

Over the last coupla years, I've managed to pick up nismo key, fashion lighter, paperwork case, floormats, clear front & side indicators, fuel pump, billet oil cap, high-pressure radiator cap, timing belt, LM GT4 18" bronze rims, s-tune wheel lug nut set, s-tune air valve cap set, 480cc injectors, solid shifter, dash cluster, engine mounts I did have the nismo 3-gauge dash cluster, but I've since replaced with a GTR MFD (non-nismo). All parts have seemed like the highest quality to me. I'm more than happy to buy Nismo. The key was probably the hardest - I nearly picked one up in 2007, but fell through - and recently managed to pick one up uncut. I'm always on the look-out for nismo parts
