Maybe it was just quicker cos so few people on it at the time...?

Eh, been in lots of datacenters in my time - in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, & Adelaide. I guess comparitively to the *good* ones I've been in, it didnt seem that great - up to par with a *reasonable* level one, but just nothing 'special'. I was also a bit surprised they didn't really give much details on their network capacity on their site.

nexcess' facility doesnt look that great :S

Forum is heaps faster. <3 it.

.. thought 'what' would be a good idea in peak hour morning traffic? (*wonders if I'm the only one wondering what a 'PRE' is too...*)

The SA Transport website has a lot of information about what is and isnt allowed (steering wheels, tint, exhaust, ride height), etc. Also see the 'defect' thread in the SA area for specific questions (there's a lot of information in there already). It generally isn't too hard to keep your car legal, even in SA where they're a little more strict than other states.

I find Brasso works wonders (also awesome removing scratches from DVDs) - just don't get it on your paintwork!
-
First do a diagnostic - if you cant even get into the diagnostic (it involves turning the steering wheel), then maybe consider looking at the steering angle sensor. There are specific threads on diagnosing HICAS - use search.

From what I had understood, stock airbox setup is fine (minimal differences) up till approximately 300rwkw, but I may be wrong ..

How are you going to get the PowerFC and T78 past regency either?

As someone who's been reading technical articles by Martin in various car magazines for well over a decade and reading his posts on SAU - seeing him on a public car forum, giving his opinion, and relating his experiences is pure gold. He doesn't just provide information on development that Willall is directly, financially involved with - but his experience with R35 development in general. I would hate to see SAU lose such a valuable resource, and I honestly don't think he is trying to use SAU as purely a platform to sell products or make a dime. I trust that the SAU moderators and administrators aren't so closed-minded as to see it as some other people have in this thread.

The Stock R34 I Purchased May Not Be All That Stock ?
jrm replied to maddowse's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
They definitely have a solenoid; You can both see on the gauge and feel the power change on my R34 at 4500rpm (in the wet, I've had it cause the rear end to slide out as the boost increased at 4500rpm). With a 3" turbo-back exhaust and k&n panel filter, mine will do 0.5bar (7psi) up till 4500rpm, then 0.6bar (8.7psi) to redline according to the MFD. -
Sa: R34 Various Parts For Sale (beware 56k)
jrm replied to TUNED33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Are the sun-visors sold? -
*shrug* .. your loss .. I aint replying to some message saying 'Drop me an SMS on xxyyzz so I can pass it on to a mate', I don't typically hand my number out - and handing it out to someone who is passing it on? .. F%^k that.

Spoiler isnt interchangable - but you can easily fit a 2D wing to a 4D by pulling the lug and drilling a hole for the second bolting point (the first one lines up).

Read my tale relating to my experience with Regency and xenons earlier up the page - maybe some are lucky and get an inspector who doesn't care or doesn't notice - but I sure didn't
-
Not every car straight out of compliancing and off for sale gets converted - mine didn't, I'm the first owner in australia and my compliancing papers saying they were changed over- but they weren't. This isn't that uncommon from what I gather - they use a compliancing set to pass initially then just swap 'em back when it comes to sale time. TBH given what ive seen of the light output from converted xenons vs factory non-xenon I'll take the risk of getting defected and converting temporarily for inspection.
-
Uhhh .. wanna bet? I was defected purely for my exhaust (though the officer also added a bracketed side-note about my factory tint being too dark too - the regency guy laughed and passed it). I had the exhaust fixed (the inspector didn't even bother checking it - grrr), but they picked me up on many other things including my factory-fitted xenons, forcing me to come back and pay a re-inspection fee. They even called a coupla blokes over to check and double-check - they specifically mentioned auto-levelling and washers and my car not having them. Acting dumb and 'i bought it like that' didn't get me anywhere here. I ended up using a fog/spotlight wiring loom with relays, etc that I picked up at supercheap for maybe $20, wired that into the fuse box to activate with the headlight switch, then modified some globes to fit in the Xenon housing, and ran the wiring loom into each of my Xenon housings. It's all nicely fused in the fusebox, making it super-easy to change between xenon and regular halogen globes - maybe 10 minutes max (change fuse position, change globes). It was good enough to pass regency, but I gotta say - I tried driving it at night (night before the inspection) and I wouldn't recommend it as a long-term solution. Whilst the globe focus is in the exact spot as factory, the reflector housing makes the light output dangerously low at night (I honestly don't know how people with converted xenons manage - its horrible!). Total cost was maybe $40, including globes. I looked around for non-xenon housing at the time, but couldn't find any in good condition at the right price - so dodgy hack it was. I wouldn't recommend leaving them non-xenon, but perhaps running a lower K (I believe they were 4300K from the factory) may avoid you ending up in regency in the first place.

Site Hard To Load ?
jrm replied to mico's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
Funny; I was just trying to load this threads second page and it just did the same thing as people are describing .. haha -
Did you have to cut / trim your reo at all?
-
It'll be the input shaft bearing on the gearbox - it's very very common. Not very cheap to fix, however.
-
Should be a globe - that's how it comes from the factory; If it's been changed over - it should still be in a globe-housing. Just remove it. If it's been completely soldered/changed into LED - pull out the soldering iron. Dunno how it is in other states, but it's nearly impossible to engineer a car in South Australia to still comply with ADRs on a car that came from the factory with airbags (and was built to comply with ADR69, ie: Post 1996). I can't imagine it's that different elsewhere, but maybe you / your engineer has found a loophole (care to enlighten any of the rest of us?) For reference: http://www.transport.sa.gov.au/pdfs/person...port/info68.pdf Anyway, good luck with it! It shouldn't be too hard to pull the globe/LED (Most people have to do it when they remove the HICAS).

Hope the cops don't catch you - boy that's illegal...

Never quite understood why some drivers like to drive with headlights on during the day; As another driver, I just find it annoying and un-necessary. If you want extra visibility for your car, wouldn't mere parkers suffice? That said, I'm also a person who hates people who use headlights during that period when it's just getting dark, and they could just get away with parkers (Anyone ever notice almost nobody ever *uses* parkers then though?)
