  1. The Import Monster SAU Nationals - 28th-30th Oct '11 has been unused for well over a month and doesn't seem all that relevant anymore. Time to remove it/archive it somewhere?
  2. A location would be useful
  3. never heard that said about Adelaide before haha I love Adelaide, I've even recently bought a house - but I have to say this -- One of the first things I thought when I moved to Adelaide nearly 7 years ago now was how badly it was laid out and that the civil engineers needed to be shot. Major roads with no room for growth, no real highway structure, clear bottle-necks that were going to bite it as the population grows, major roads that are bisected by railroad tracks. I also quickly learn't that trying to logical 'shortcuts' between places is not something you want to do - stick to the main roads, or you'll get caught in the rats warren of back-streets. Perhaps that was designed to keep people on the main roads, but when they're often single laned, backed up in traffic during peak hour or full of road-work, it's a difficult situation to be in. I'm honestly glad I haven't had to submit to Adelaide's public transport system either. Of all the places I've lived, it looks the most undeveloped I've witnessed (of the capital cities). I won't even start on the South Rd Superway. What a waste of tax dollars.
  4. R should be an easy pick-up for someone too.
  5. That's not what it says about tinting: For the windows forward of the rear of the driver’s seat luminous transmittance must not be less than 70% when measured through glass and film together unless the laws of a State or Territory allow a lesser luminous transmittance. The lesser transmittance must be above 35%. (Figure LZ-G2 illustrates the window tinting requirements in terms of luminous transmittance for passenger vehicles. It also specifies the different requirements currently in force in the Northern Territory); For windows behind the rear of the driver’s seat the luminous transmittance must not be less than 35%; Reflectance in the visible light range must not exceed 10%; and The coating must not be wrinkled, blistered, bubbled or discoloured such that visibility through the glass and film is impaired. Which basically says 70% unless the state allows a lower transmittance - in-which case the minimum is 35%. South Australia allows for 35%. http://www.transport.sa.gov.au/pdfs/personal_transport/light_vehicles_pdfs/MR430_Window_Tinting.pdf For full information on South Australian laws regarding tinting - which includes information on 'body tinting' (which many of our cars came from the factory with - mine has AS3 rated rear glass).
  6. My R34 GT-T has done the down 10cm thing after using auto-up button randomly (maybe once every 30 uses) since I bought it. For me, you can hear the window squeezing against the rubber seal at the top, and I always put it down to too much resistance on the seal causing it to think it hit something and go down. I wouldn't mind hearing if there is a proper fix though. Might try what BarbsGTR suggested.
  7. Internode & iinet are soon to be basically the same thing http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-12-23/iinet-internode-internet-broadband/3745066
  8. It was already pointing at an alternator problem, changing the battery pretty much proves it. Could be the wiring to the alternator, could be the alternator itself. Taking it to an auto-electrician will be the quickest way to tell.
  9. So who wants to start the 2012 wasteland thread? SLED? Nightcrawler?
  10. Anyone know what the quality of ISC is (SAU trader) in comparison to the eBay alternatives? Much of a muchness?
  11. I really should go get some more pics of my car since I got it back... Haven't had any taken since full respray, fitting the factory bodykit & bronze LMGT4's
  12. What sort of a stupid comment is that I know for my own MFD install it was a case of either: i) find an electronic device that displayed multiple gauges. A few options here none of them particularly cheap. Still left with triple gauge cluster - what's the point? ii) Replace triple gauges, install additional gauges to try and get a good idea of what's going on iii) Simply just install an MFD - a device which hooks up perfectly, doesnt cost the earth, isn't defectable and displays multiple gauges without any dramas. Seems like a pretty obvious choice to me. Feel free to explain why you feel so strongly about this view.
  13. They're $999 brand new. http://store.apple.com/au/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone/iphone4s Think you've overpriced it by well over $500. Edit: Really don't think 'swarovski crystals' are worth that. Nope: http://www.iphonecaze.com/iphone-4-swarovski-crystal-case.html $200 Good luck with the sale.
  14. I used to have 'em in my car before I replaced with an MFD. I really liked 'em. My only gripe was the lack of vacuum display on the boost gauge. They look good during the day, and light up red at night. To really compliment them - get a hold of the nismo dash cluster as well
  15. Pretty miserable weather for it.
  16. Every IP on the internet is constantly getting attacked and scanned - typically automated by bots/viruses/worms. They infect machines and then use those to scan even more hosts. On my home router, I record tens of thousands attempts a day - what you're seeing is pretty normal to me. Port 445 is SMB over TCP - so basically people trying to access shares. Port 1433 is MS SQL - worms looking to attack Microsoft SQL servers Port 23 is telnet - people trying to login to your router Not sure on 2386 or 48623 but google lists them as ports people scan for stuff, so probably some service that can be easily attacked. Another common port you'll see accessed is port 22 (SSH), people trying to login to UNIX routers and certain routers. When attackers/bots/worms find ports like telnet/SSH open, they'll then try and attempt common username/passwords to try and break in. I'd probably ignore those logs as nothing to worry about either way. Have you tried calling up Adam yet - they may have some clues and be able to provide plenty of trouble-shooting advice
  17. Really wanna stick with an R34/OP6 high-flow if I can - my power goals are only 240-250rwkw. More chance to get through Regency without me needing to change back to a factory turbo .. Do you know what sort of turbo Shaun has?
  18. Yup, I already have a nistune fitted, unfortunately it's just still on the factory maps - I haven't had the $$$ to get it tuned yet. Plan is to take it to Boostworx or Willall in the new year. Given the 182rwkw I hit on 7psi, with the 10psi actuator now in - I'm hoping with a retune power should jump to low 200rwkw, with better economy. That's the aim/hope anyway. My '34 is finally getting where I want it - few major things left on my list are fitting the nismo 480cc injectors, fitting the HEL oil cooler w/thermostat (sitting in garage), and highflow the turbo (probably MTQ). Thanks for throwing ideas and help out guys
  19. Yup, I understand why my fuel economy is poor - stock ECU - and it'll compensate with extra fuel. Which is why I ask if Jap_Star has a stock ECU. I'm guessing not, which gives me hope that I might achieve good fuel economy with a tune
  20. Is that with or without an aftermarket ECU right now? Cos that sure seems pretty economical to me. I'm currently getting like 15.5L/100km (320km or so on 50L) on an untuned R34 with 3" exhaust, 10psi - just regular driving around town (It'll get 600km+ on 50L on the highway though). Planning to get it down to get retuned early next year for economy if nothing else. If I could possibly achieve that sort of economy around town I'd be stoked.
  21. Why not at least use one of the many available public IRC networks?
  22. Didn't you move interstate? What happened? Did you end up selling the car?
  23. Anyone know anything about air compressors for home use? Mainly looking for something for general car use (impact wrench, tyre inflation, etc) - but wouldnt complain if it could also be used for light painting duties. Unit I'm eyeing off is 2.5hp 40L unit capable of 200L/minute - am I better off 200L/minute 'high-flow' unit like that or one with 120L/minute? Is higher flow better? Man I feel totally out of my depth with this stuff
  24. Feel free to explain why you feel that way.
