  1. I've seen these before, you don't have to go through a Japanese auction to get one either, its just the newest infometer. From memory they are only small, about the size of an iPhone and plugs into your consult port.
  2. what do you mean its a pain though? i cant speak for the newer nissans, andy56b has said HICAS kicks in from around 40kph. but in the older models it only kicks in above 80kph. i had it in my old skyline, it was good for windy roads with 100kph speed limits. but shit for track/drift when you want the rear to be predictable.
  3. should be right, if you baby it that is. i wouldn't be too worried about the narrower tire, its not as if your going to be loading the car up. but the fact that its a bit smaller in over all rolling diameter, it could screw with the 4WD system.
  4. you've pretty much got it there. an ignition fault can either be, Coils (most likely), the wiring to the coils, the PT's in the ecu, or the CAS. best thing would be to pick your self up a set of Splitfire Coilpacks, put them in, reset the error code and see how it goes. coils are the problem 90% of the time in ignition faults, especially if they are still the factory originals.
  5. i'd say either one would be fine, they are both good companies with a quality cable. the only thing everyone is getting at is to get a usb one as a lot of the usb to serial convertors don't work. at the time i got mine they didn't have the usb ones so i got a Blatz brand one and use it with a belkin serial convertor with no problems at all with it.
  6. nope, S2 auto ecu is apart of the engine ecu aswell. its just easier to chip because it has a different chip type than the R33/S1 Stagea.
  7. yeah, all i can do with the software i have is, switch the auxiliary thermo fan on and off, raise and lower the idle, turn cylinders off, etc. but like kiwi said, its all real time testing that isn't a permanent change. the other major features of the software are being able to read and clear fault codes, and some of the software has data logging capabilities, good for looking at afm voltage or injector duty cycle vs rpm.
  8. yep, consult cables work, the plug is located with the in cabin fuse box. i've tried a few of the free consult software interfaces and don't remember seeing anything like cold start enrichment. the one i want to get is nissan datascan, it is supposed to be a bit more in depth than the free software getting around.
  9. Nope, you can't just pull a fuse. It causes problems with the power steering. Are you sure you have hicas?
  10. C34 stagea's don't have a transponder in the key. i'm running a cut key in my car without a problem. and it wouldn't be the O2 sensor, if it was the error code would say its the O2 sensor (i've had this error code before). we could help you out better if you could tells us the actual error code number, e.g. 21 did you replace all of the coils in one go, or just the one? if you just did the one perhaps another one is on its way out. another thing that pops into mind and would probably not be thought of is the PTU for the coils inside the ecu. this fault was discovered by user 666DAN, its for the R34 but S2 stagea's are the same ecu. if it is this fault and your no good at CB soldering and don't know anyone that is, it could mean a new ecu Link to Fault
  11. he's more after what is communicated between the engine ecu and hicas ecu. also i'm not sure the hicas lock bar from a R33 or R34 would be suitable for the M35, but it wouldn't be hard to modify one to fit, or even make one up. to answer the original question some more, in previous nissan models the engine ECU's haven't been hicas or non-hicas specific, the hicas runs just the hicas using a couple of signals and sensors from the vehicle. so if you are worried about any hicas ecu imposed ignition or fuel map changes to the engine ecu, don't be, there aren't any.
  12. i don't know about the M35, but on a skyline i sure the only thing a hicas ecu gets from the main ecu is the vehicle speed signal. the engine ecu doesn't get anything from the hicas ecu.
  13. Nistune don't have a chip for the R33 either. if you see a R33 that is running Nistune it will most probably have a chipped R32 or Z32 ecu running it.
  14. the M35 VQ25 is listed on the SAFC Neo and and SAFC II installation lists. but not the SAFC 1, which is probably not supported because the SAFC 1 would have been designed before the VQ25 was in production. i don't see why you couldn't get it working, its just a signal bender. what were the reasons behind not having any luck using them?
  15. it wouldn't be that the turbo is laggy it'll still come on full boost by 2500 rpm, with the RB25DET you don't start to feel the engine really pulling hard until around 4000 rpm.
  16. Why? Why not! lol. Besides, the old RB25 doesn't really open up till around 5k rpm.
  17. yeah for sure, i think the market for cars at the moment is pretty slow so you might not get a lot of bites. but with the mods you've done, anyone that knows abit about modifications would see that the price your asking is fair. the way i would weight it up is, i could buy a stock one for cheaper, then spend a lot of money and time to do all the mods you have listed, or just buy one with it all already done. sure its the more expensive car to buy, but to go out and purchase and install all those mods it would add up to be much more than the difference in sale prices.
  18. i'm sure the 4WD models don't have traction control, only the RWD ones so it wouldn't be that. when you say its holds at 5500 rpm does it feel like a rev limit of more of a flat spot? if it feels like a flat spot it could be a few things, could be the intake pipe sucking closed a bit, if you still have the stock exhaust or dump/front pipe you could be feeling the restriction. it also could be the slight flat spot experienced when the VVT switches off (around 5k rpm).
  19. isn't the stock waste gate only 5psi, the solenoid bleeds off air to get it to 7psi. or is it the other way around?
  20. looks like a good mild setup. but i wouldn't bother too much with an adjustable cam gear, while on the non-neo RB25's they can help get a little bit more out of it, the neo engines dont seem to respond the same way with almost no change in power/torque output.
  21. yep, i remember seeing this one when i was picking up my stagea from the coast.
  22. this wouldn't have been around march last year would it?
