  1. So many options, so many different ways to attack it...thanks for everyones input so far. I'm total newbie when it comes to stuff like this (as this is my first turbo car) and for me it's going to be first of many changes done on my car (gotta do exhaust system, intercooler (which i'm in the process of modifying - no need to go into it as i have stated on here before), suspension (hopefully SK's group buy is still going when i've got enough cash) but the turbo is the first thing that needs to get done as I have a feeling that's the first thing that is going to go. Basically I want to get my car around the 180 - 200kw at all fours with very minimal mods Quick question what is the flange on the stock Stagea turbo (so I know what to look for if i'm going to buy another turbo) also (though it may sound silly) should you buy a new turbo or a good - very good second hand turbo (obviously get the turbo serviced to make sure it's not completely wrecked)
  2. I Most likely won't - had a chat with a friend...told me more about them and how much of a hit or miss affair they are.. But I'm really stuck in terms of what I should do in terms of upgrading the turbo Choices are: Option 1 (sounds like the cheap option - but seems effective) - just basically service my current turbo and change the wheels to steel and possible change the actuator Option 2 (what my friends suggested to me) - high flow to GT2530 or GT28RS internals What do you think?
  3. I did read alot of turbo forums and got conflicting information....some say they are shit but yet some say they are good and had no problems I just wanted to see if anybody here has installed them...and what their experiences were
  4. Hey guys, I'm starting to look at turbo upgrades (I've got a funny feeling that my turbo is going to let go soon)...I'm looking at a billion and one different options... I have read the FAQ in the DIY section...and has given me good ideas I was looking at KKR Turbochargers (the KKR430 or KKR480) has anyone use this on their Stagea and how does it go?
  5. Well i got my greddy relocation kit installed. Thank god I had access to a hoist because it was a pain in the ass to install...the other think I found not so good are the Earl's fittings - though they look nice, they are the screw clamp type (like a normal clamp just inside the fitting)...all but 1 broke on me and just used normal clamps to clamp... The only problem I have now...is putting in my oil temp sensor. I've got a autogauge oil temp gauge with the sensor but the sensor doesn't fit in the hole. What should I do....has anyone else got this relocation kit and autogauge oil temp gauge and how do you get around it?? At the moment I have 2 of 3 autogauge gauges running (volts and boost) and set in the centre under my headunit looks good but the oil temp is off until I can get the sensor installed
  6. Hi guys, About 7 months ago I brought an intercooler on ebay that had the outlet pipes on the same end. To keep the story short I got a cooler that did not look like the one in the picture, got half my money back and kept the cooler. Problem is that I need to find new end tanks so I can repair it (what i'm thinking on doing is getting two standard end tanks, cut them in half so the to fatter ends go on one side and the tapered ends go on the other side so it creates flow - if I can get proper ones made up then thats a bonus) Does anyone know when I can get intercooler end tanks from and roughly how much
  7. Yeah I finally sorted it out, went and saw Adam at Stylin' in Boronia on Friday and it's all good.. He couldn't believe what a cock-up job GL Pro Sound did with the install. I didn't even know they did not install the 3rd immobiliser (fuel lines) and some (I'd say all) the wiring was stuffed. I believe that Adam has taken some pics and filling in Travis in as well. I'm going to give him a call tomorrow and see if he can e-mail me his report and pics so I can go down to GL Pro Sound and show them what was done to fix it and possibly get some (hopefully all) my money back that I had to spend to fix it for the moment - smiles all round. RBPOWA - What type of alarm have you got and who installed it??
  8. Thanks Chris, I did read your PM and I'll definitely take it to Stylin' as suggested. The Turbo timer function is on...so there is no problems there. It always sounded far fetch about the Turbo timer and it being the cause of wiring being burnt out. But then again this is coming from a "professional" installer
  9. *Update 2* Had the guy from GL Pro Sound come out and have a look at my alarm...He said that the Turbo Timer caused the wires to burn out. Now I remember having the same conversation with him when I got the alarm installed. The car is now mobile again but there is about a 2 week wait to get me car in to fix. He also said that what they will do is that they will install a bigger diode so it doesn't blow out again but he can't guarantee it would happen again. Now has anyone else had this same issue with their Mongoose alarm and turbo timer installed?
  10. *Update* Well I'm getting the guys from GL Pro Sound (who installed my alarm in the first place) to come have a look and disable the immobilizer so I can drive it. Here is some photo of the burnt out wiring....and tell me what you think
  11. It's a very nice for a ute. Imagine taking a Stagea ute to a country B&S Ball...lol How much you reackon it would lighten the car by with a mod like that
  12. I'll post some photo's tomorrow night when I bring the car home (gotta wait 24 hours for RACV total care roadside assistance to kick in so I get free towing - unlimited kms) and show the burnt out wires. It appears that about 4 or 5 wires were just tied and electrical taped (no signs of solder) and then put together (as in they are bunched up really close), I guess over time (6 months after install) they started to rub and touch and from my very basic knowledge in electronics, every time i've gone to start the car, the wires were starting to short itself out At least the best thing is my car didn't catch fire.. My next question would be...do you think that the guys who installed my alarm should come out and bypass the immobiliser then take it to them and get it re-wired properly this time and if you were in my position - would you expect to pay for it??
  13. Went to my car, changed all the fuses and still not starting. Found out what the problem is - the wires for the alarm have been burnt out. I'll going to get the car towed back to my house on monday and then call GL Clown Sound and yell and scream about my alarm (damn silly wiring)
  14. Hey Guys, I was leaving a friends place tonight after work. Did my usual thing....start the car and let it warm up (it's cold tonight)....As I went to drive off and turned the corner the car suddenly died. pulled over to the side of the road and went to restart...started for about 3 seconds and dead... When I go to turn the key the chime for "you left he key in ignition" is going off....have no engine lights (showing battery airbag etc.) and the car just turns over. Even the climate control doesn't turn on...so it's like the car is off and its not registering the key being at on. but my stereo and headlights are working I do have an alram (Mongoose) Installed but i have disabled it (I think - hopefully i did it right but i have a feeling i didn't).. Can anyone help...as it's really fustrating...I don't know what the problem is and i'm far from home Thanks in advance.
  15. Alright I just got my relocation kit today...But does anyone have English instructions for this? (damn I knew I should have concentrated more in Japanese class in high school lol)
  16. Well I decided to get the Trust/Greddy Oil filter relocation kit (not the one with the oil cooler)...Getting it from RMS Motorsport for $200 deleivered to my door. Well at least this has delayed my service by approx 2 weeks (waiting for it to come in) Does it use the same filter as the stock S2 filters or do I have to go something different??
  17. I always found funny when people tell me is it a Volvo and I respond back it may look like a Volvo but doesn't go like a Volvo... My brothers saw my car, they wanted to buy the SIPS stickers that the Volvo's have on the side windows to piss me off..
  18. Hmmm...just the relocation kit (no Core) is $330 from Just Jap...must consider....
  19. Congrats Andy on purchasing a Stagea, I brought mine in January this year and have not regretted it. Bayside Blue looks really nice on Stageas (is it Metallic aka Bayside Blue Metallic like the R34 GT-R). The Autech bodykit looks good and the rims suit the car.. The funny thing when you get your car is when people look at your car...they will scratch their heads and always ask "What car is it?" and when you tell them it's a Stagea they all say "what?" and the other they will say "is that a volvo?" - I get it all the time lol
  20. Hey Guys, I'm currently due to do a service on my car and I've just saw where the oil filter is located and all I can say is WTF!!! what a hell of a spot to put it...I gives me all the more reason to get a oil filter relocation kit. Now I don't know what I'm looking or should I look for (in terms of brands), one of my requirements is that I need to connect a oil temp sensor for my oil temp gauge (which is still not installed - being lazy) I was looking at the Perma-Cool oil filter relocation kit...Has anyone used them and if someone can tell me if you can connect an oil temp sensor Thanks guys!
  21. Hey guys.. how hard is it to mount the amp under the driver or passenger seats. The reason i'm asking is that I'm going to install my JL Audio A4300 Amp and thinking of putting it under the seat. How hard is it to take the seat (mind you i've got the leather/electric seat with the seat warmers) and does anyone have instructions on how so?
  22. Cool thanks...I'll keep that those part numbers in mind I got the globes from jaycar - thought they were just a solid wire when you strip the insulation off but its those thin multi wires (don't know the proper name). trimed them and put then in the holder (after cutting and fitting the plastic bit where the bottom of the globe/wires are) put the blue covers on and now i can't finally see my climate control at night
  23. can you remember the part number for it Ben (if there is one)
  24. That really blows that you have been waiting so long for you car...I really hope something good works out. Things like this should never happen
