  1. If its anything like the gearbox he sold me then id stay away mate.
  2. Pm sent.
  3. Anyone got one?
  4. Hi guys, just purchased a gearbox but it didnt come with a gear lever. If anyone has a spare laying around please let me know. Im in Tas, will pay postage. Cheers.
  5. Check your tps. It sounds like its right on the verge of getting an idle signal, sometimes it does other times it doesnt.
  6. Hahaha funny. I thought you said you were a mechanic Kincrome? What sorta mechanic has to ask on the internet if coils fail under load? Just seems a bit strange thats all, let me guess, just started your first week at tafe?
  7. Do a search for Jim Berry Raceclutch. Its all been covered before. Wouldnt recommend Exedy from personal experience, useless imo. If you dont machine the flywheel you wont get full contact and run the risk of slipping it in the early stages. For the extra $50 odd its well worth it. The manufacturer doesnt always tell you but a clutch wont be covered under warranty unless the flywheel is machined.
  8. Story goes you lost your turbo, how much boost were you running? Sounds like piston damage, leaned out and bad detonation. Start pulling it out....
  9. You wont be able to move the CAS around a tooth, they can only go on one way. I reckon your cam timing is out, take the top cover off and double check your marks.
  10. Have you actually put a light on it and checked the timing? I know it sounds a bit coincidental but do that first and check cam timing aswell. Sometimes you need to go back to basics before starting to pull your hair out!
  11. Like you say yourself, some things are just not worth it.
  12. They work the other way. Open when vaccum applied thus reducing pressure in rail at idle. You need to get rid of it all together to use the malpassi
  13. If your really tricky try and get it to run without the intake on the suspect turbo for a short period of time and see if the compressor wheel spins, should tell you if theres an exhaust wheel there or not.
  14. Ive seen genuine HKS items without the adjusters aswell, came in a GTR kit and dont work very well at all, can only just hear them.
  15. They must have changed the design slightly, i fitted one quite a while ago and didnt have the fitting underneath for the auxilliary air valve to plumb in so i didnt use it, managed to just use the idle motor, lucky it ran haltech i guess.
  16. Yeah think he made that number on elf though, either way it would still be a fun car. Whats the plan for your diff? Spending the dollars or doing the cheap fix? Did you end up getting a bigger master cylinder to overcome the long pedal after travis fitted the big brakes?
  17. Yeah thats the one, any idea on his PB at symmons?
  18. Oh ok. Think from memory it ran a VL turbo box, didnt think it would hold up for ever. Yeah it had a few stickers on it. When i worked at Pride Autos it was down at Driveshaft City for ages getting the engine rebuilt, with all these goodies it should easily see 60's. I wonder if Cooper will have the torana out there, still havent seen it on the track yet but apparerently its doing mid 60's aswell. Everything seems to be getting quicker....
  19. Has anyone seen the red R32 gtst with GTR gaurds, bonnet and 25 that runs around the track lately? Last i saw of it was just after it was tuned, made 330ish i think but that was well over a year ago. Think it used to do 63's but would expect it to go alot quicker now. Everyone will see Brett O'shea's VH commodore back out there soon, wants to get under the minute mark. Did 61's aspirated with 315rwkw, just fitted a blower so that should be interesting.
  20. Why should i have to prove it? Do you have a problem with people knowing more than you? Dont get your knickers in a knot with me, im just telling you why brad prefers to use iridiums, he will tell you the same thing if you bothered to listen.
  21. No need to be a smart arse about it, the iridium plug has an electrode that is alot finer (around .4mm compared to 1.1mm) than a platinum plug which means firing voltages are decreased and spark output is increased. The melting point of the electrode is around 600-700deg higher which also means longer life.
  22. Geez mate i was only asking. I personally have never had any dramas. Theres no point bagging him out on a forum though, you would be better to talk to brad about it face to face. Word gets around quick in tassie remember. The reason he would have fitted the iridium plugs is because they require less firing voltage and coil demand to produce the same spark as a conventional or platinum plug, which at the end of the day is better for you. Im not trying to cause an argument here, just think you should chat to him about it.
  23. How come??
  24. You will need to bake the crank in the oven for 45 minutes on 180deg to make sure the araldite cures properly, that way you can reliably rev it to 13000rpm. Also use rb20 pistons so you have plenty of piston/bore clearance. Might rattle a bit but it wont sieze. Be sure to run an 85w/140 oil, the thin stuff can sometimes cause the araldite to lose its grip, cant rely totally on the electrical tape to hold it together.......
  25. Where abouts in tassie are you?? I work at chris colgrave automotive in launnie, i fitted WHITER33's clutch. The GTR's arent a 5 minute job to get the box out, you'll probably pay upwards of $350 just in labour but could be more. Jim usually supplies a rear main seal and input shaft seal aswell.
