Looking For R34 Wheel Bearings
ewhs replied to ewhs's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
On my way home, i drove at 80km/h and the whirring noise is still there although its drowned out by road/ tire noise etc. As mentioned earlier,it is most noticable when i engage in D let the car roll and noise seem to be coming from the rear wheels. It shouldnt be from tires since the car is going like 5km/h. Dont think its HICAS related since my car doesnt come equipped with it Tried driving side to side but couldnt find notice anything extraordinary but weeks prior the car made groaning noises when i turned left into my drive way. Wondering if its related Is the sound coming from front or rear of the car? What bushes are u changing? -
Looking For R34 Wheel Bearings
ewhs replied to ewhs's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi my r34 is white as well =) At what speed do you hear this noise? The sound is loudest when the car is rolling in 1st gear but disappears when i accelerate ( prbably due to road noise) but its quite irritaiting especially when im stuck in traffic. I am trying to identify if the noise is coming from the front or rear. Was told the rear bearings are very expensive but no luck finding the part code so far. Do you have any luck finding bearings so far? Lets exchange info =) -
Hi everyone, Car started making a whirring and clicking noise at low speed. Brought vehicle to a mechanic and he reckons its the wheel bearings but he didnt mention front or rear. I would like to do some homework before getting a quote from him. My car is a 34 25GT sedan (non turbo), are there any differences in the wheel bearings between a GT and GTT? I was told by a mate the model the front bearings are :NTN-4237 or NSK 4574 but hes not sure about the ones in the rear. Can anyone confirm the correct model number for the wheel bearings? Also where can i buy them and how much will they cost? Thank you

Irritating Noise From Front Passenger Side
ewhs replied to ewhs's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I believe so, the tires came with the rims though......so do you think the noise is a result of them scrubbing? -
Hi everyone, My car has recently developed some irrititating noises and just wondering if anyone can help me out a) Clicking, clunking sound at low speed, usually heard when accelerating and braking, sound disappears at higher speeds (30+) but i believe its drowned out by road noise. b) Intermittent groaning sound when vehicle turns left, noticably louder at lower speeds, if turing into an elevated road ( driveway, parking ramp) there will be an accompany scraping noise, sounds like the tyres scraping against the guards. Car in question is a R34 sedan with - Bilstein Shocks/ Lowered King springs - super pro camber and caster bushes - using 245/45/17 Bridgestone Potenzas on a 8 inch rim in the front Power steering belt and fluid replaced weeks ago during 100k service. Wheel alignment was completed in January. Please help me as I have to drive an hour to work and the sound is driving me nuts! Fingers crossed this is not an expensive repair Thanks in advance

I drive a R34 NA auto sedan, I tried in vain to accurately measure my fuel consumption but based on my estimates, i get around 430-450 to a tank in Melb city area...best consumption i got was 530ks when i did some highway driving I noticed that the fuel gage is not very accurate so I noted the KMS when the fuel gage reads half full (approx 30litres).. My reading varies between 220-270 kms.

Thanks for the feedback...to be honest im not sure wat causing the globes to blow so frequently...was told by my mech it may be due to excessive vibration....but changing globes once every 2 mths is simply unacceptable and way too expensive for me....if switchin back to HIDs will alleviate the problem, will do so....do u know if i can still switch back to HIDs after the modification? i read in the forum i will need to ensure the ballasts are still in place or something like tat...but im not too much of a technical person...not really sure whats that about...how much will it cost ? Thanks heaps...

Thanks JI34GT...Contacted O'Briens to take a look at the windshield...=) Anyone who can help me out on the headlight issue? Its driving me nuts Cheers
-
Dear all... Facing some problems with my R34 and wonder if anyone can help me ( Sigh..more $$ down the drain) 1) R34 LHS headlight The globe has blown twice within the space of last 4 mths. wasted over 80 bucks just on new globes alone... my vehicle had factory Xenon lights but was replaced with Halogens during compliance.. I read somewhere online that the problem lies with a washer in the converted headlamp...apparently, excessive vibration causes the filament of the globe to burn out....is this true? If so, will a switch back to Xenon headlamps solve the problem? Any recommendations? How much am i looking at? I want something that wont attract excessive attention from the police... 2) stone chips on windshield Caught a few chips on the windshield on my way back from Mornington peninsular...the largest one has slight cracks surronding it... Is there any way to fix it? or do i have to replace the entire windshield? How much am i looking at? the car is insured with Just car but apparently I still have to pay an excess fee to replace my windshield.......wat rotten luck..=( Appreciate any help or comments Have a Merry and safe Christmas everyone !
