Yes that's pretty shit, Optus should be able to provide you 30mbps down 1 mbps up pretty easily - worth a phone call 30 down 1 up is considered 'standard' cable speed and 100 down 2 up is considered 'ultiamte' cable speed which you'll need to pay extra for but still possible on cable. For reference my Telstra cable gets about 30-35 down and 1 up Leeroy has a special situation where he has reasons for the shitty-er cable speed I'm sure Edit: Basically what Simon said
