  1. Cams etc etc etc (so many threads already on this topic) Unless they strip the engine apart on the spot.. they wont know
  2. Spend the money on a 25DE head regrinde cams remap
  3. cover the exhaust tip with your foot/hand or something that will seal, if its an exhaust leak.. you'll hear it. I have a feeling its something else.. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/t170221.html See if that shounds familiar
  4. Skit: well.. someone has done their research Yeah.. I should be getting it rebuilt: Balanced crank (anything else needed to crank?) Shot Peened connies (necessary?) RB25DET Forgies (laying around) And then a shave of block ~1.5mm - 2mm Port and polish head DET/GTR springs HOPEFULLY oversized valves (Ideas? DET Valves larger? cheap alturnative? Are RB30 Valves bigger than 25 valves? I could use two sets of 30 valves) And a set of re-grinded cams Aj. Cam gears Im thinking I can re-flash the R33 RB25DET ECU I have to run an appropriate map P.s Good idea with the ratshat Eug: Well there wont be any miss-communication, Ill be doing the work myself.. wish me luck. - check what thickness gaskets are available I think I will be using a new gasket I already have laying around, perhaps tke a little off that - is it possible to achieve the desired CR with the gasket + shaving, calculate - I need a maths freak to calculate my combustion chamber volume (top dead center - bottom dead center = Combustion chamber volume?) Im still in the process of aquiring all the info and parts I need to do it all in one hit. I will most likely do a write-up.. and most likely ask many MANY more questions (e.i port and polish, C.R's, Valve clreances, re-grinded lift and durations, timeing, fuels etc.) This will be on a strickt budget, so, anything that I dont need to take to workshop, wont be taken. If there is a cheaper alturnative (i.e, DET springs apposed to aftermarket ones, Regrinded cams apposed to new ones) they will be taken.
  5. Thats the Idea of it.. I just have to make sure that the increased lift out of the new cams will not cause the valves to hit the cylinders.. I just need to gather enough information as to make an educated decision.. I may just stick with 1mm or maby 1.5mm I Read somewhere that by going NA 25/30 the CR drops to something like 8.5:1 CR? Can anyone confirm this? Came accross this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compression_ratio
  6. Hay guys.. I got a question.. I want to know.. if I shave off Xmm how much will it increase my Compression ratio by? Has anybody haved their head? How far did they go? Will an RB25DE with CVT cope with a 12:1 CR? What is a safe amount of CR to run? Any info is greatly appreciated!
  7. Depends what you want to do to the car: Drag: You want a heavier flywheel to keep momentum (and hence revs up) between gear changes.. Circuit: Your revs will drop and climb quicker, shortening braking distances and reving out quicker.. Pros of lightened flywheel: Revs out quicker.. Revs drop quicker.. Cons of a lightened flywheel: Its harder to get car off the line quickly.. Harder to match up revs in double clutch, heal and toe etc. Heat is tranfered to clutch, preassure plate etc, because the flywheel is thinnner, so it cannot take as much heat as a stock flywheel so it transfers heat to things it is in contact with.. The price.. Plus the bitch of installing it.. Anywhooo.. thats my rant..
  8. NAH!.. if its one thing I will never do.. its leather interior.. Its cold in winter.. so you heat up the car.. then you get all sweaty and sticky.. and gross.. and leather dosnt breathe.. so end up sweating weight off And in summer.. its worse.. no matter what you do.. you will just sweat in a leather seat.. and get all gross.. not a good look..
  9. Spoiler-less love I quite like it.. Im pondering if I should get grafics or not..
  10. Renault Clio Sport!!! ABSOLUTE MACHINE! DC5 Type R Drop 30K into an NA R32 ~220 NA KW is freakin quick! Lookin at 12's!
  11. Yeah mate.. sounds good!.. Just a cruise or something.. something to keep me motorvated while im here and cant work on the car or anything!
  12. 33's have stronger boxes.. From what I remeber.. (and please dont take my word for it.. it was a long time ago and was just flipping through the manual).. but.. I think the 33 1st 2nd 3rd gears are SLIGHTY taller.. only by 2-5 teeth..
  13. Its harder to get cars with a light flywheel off the line.. and.. because its a thinner flywheel heat will be transfered to clutch and clutch preasure plate..
  14. Only "advantage" you will see on a dyno is that the engine will rev out quicker Advantage or disadvantage? Depends what your doing.. If your dragging.. disadvantage.. you want a stock/same weight fly wheel as momentum will keep the flywheel spinning during gear changes and you wont loose rpm when changing up.. If your circuit racing.. advantage.. revs will increase and decline faster.. this will mean your car will accelerate quicker.. and brake in shoter distances..
  15. All of $20 (if that) if you do it urself If you port too little.. you wont be acheiving all the gains possible.. Port too much.. you will loose flow.. is there any workshops that know about NA RB's
  16. Im pretty sure CR is acheived from pistons.. DET springs are harder.. and I THINK the valves are slightly are bigger.. I have to find the page.. bit I think there isnt a difference in duration or lift between the two. There may be an overlap in the NA shafts.. but not sure.. Will get back to you with that one..
  17. Yip.. already have.. The recomeneded gap from factory is.. between .035mm - 0.055mm The pistons would of been fine if the kooks from the "workshop" didnt bore it out by 0.05mm Shame really.. But.. free forgies something for my 25/30 setup!
  18. I want that in my girlfriend too
  19. Dead set mate.. I dont think I have heard you say one positive thing that isnt along the lines of "your a kook" on these forums..
  20. Well wasnt the gentlemans agreement of the 206KW broken sometime last year?.. Didnt the 350 break it? So Im hopeing its GAME ON! Things to look forward to: Evo X V35 GTR.. arnt the calling it streight and simple "Nissan GTR"? HOPEFULLY pushing decent amount of power.. Rumour somewhere has it there is a new NSX comming out? Hopefully we may see a new supra return?
  21. Well it has come to an end.. Rb25DET VVL from a 34 with a Power FC dyno tuned for 220kw.. Should make good fun a 1200kg car Engine is mechanically placed in over the weekend.. Electronics will be done soon.. Now I just have to get the power on the ground
  22. Ur mate dosnt drive a pulsar does he? Turbo N15?
  23. Yeah.. its such a shame though! Theres at least 5 33's.. a 4 door 32 a 32 GTR 2 34's and a STAGGY! Would make for a good cruise size..
