  1. How many hours went into that? 1000-2000hrs? I would hate to think of the total cost. $200-$300k? Friggin awesome. I love how integrated and snug fitting the roll cage is. Oh and the dash, how cool was it? Talk about the ultimate E30 M3 though! That one is a keeper!!! Love to see it in action at a track. From the looks of it, seems it was built with motorsport intentions. Possibly tarmac rallies but I'm only guessing. Was this built in the USA? It was left hand drive.
  2. I rate Alonso very highly. Let's not forget that he is a double world champ and beat the best of the best, a Mr Michael Schumacher at the time. I hope to see Alonso in a competitive car next year. It would be awesome to see the 3 world champs on the grid (Kimi, Alonso & Hamilton) all in fast cars next year competiting for the podium! I think Button is looking very good for the championship this year. I won't begrudge him winning it either. I think he's very talented and deserves a world championship.
  3. Brilliant photo's! I'm blown away at how hard they push the cars - 2 wheels up over the flip flop!! Awesome! If I ever grow the balls to do that, I'd want some awesome shots to prove it!!!
  4. Excellent job and well constructed car. Very professional. Congrats to your son for building such a nice car. I'm very jealous!!!!!
  5. Agree about Bathurst as well. Not that accessable to the club driver. I've been lucky to do sections of it during the East Coast Targa Rally in 2005. They held a special stage beginning just after hell corner (turn 1) going up mountain straight, they put in some bollard man made chicanes to keep speeds down, then we went up through the cutting, all the way up and over the top of skyline (my highlight), down through the esses, dipper, forest elbow etc, onto conrod straight, then they put in another bollard chicane and we finished the stage about half way down conrod. I remember that funny feeling in my stomach as we went over skyline, a bit like when you're in a lift. Priceless.
  6. I remember reading a poll on Australia's best racing circuits in a car mag and the top 4 results from race car drivers around Australia were: 1. Bathurst (yes it's that good) 2. Phillip Island 3. Eastern Creek 4. Oran Park GP
  7. Yeah the Isle of Man TT is just insane! It was frightening just watching the onboard camera let alone actually riding it!!!! Average speed of 130mph! Apparently 226 people have died on the circuit since 1907, but they just keep going faster and faster! How was the Aussie Cameron Donald setting fastest lap in practice, then he had a stack and dislocated his shoulder and injured his back which obviously put him out of the event. And then there's the side car guys!!! My god!!!! so awsome! Talk about having a death wish.
  8. Eastern Creek is up there also, it's the closest track for me to travel and I love the high speed on the long straight. Turn 1 gets the heart thumping as well. After Oran Park closes then Eastern Creek will inherit favourite track.
  9. 1. Oran Park GP for the win! 2. I've driven Wakefield, Eastern Creek, Oran Sth and Oran GP. Without a doubt I love Oran Park GP because it's so much like a roller coaster with little rest. It askes you to push it over the flip flop and begs you to not brake through the kink. It's a very rewarding track and I wish it wasn't closing down either. 3. Want to go drive Phillip Island as I've only heard good things about it. I've visited and taken the tour, watched a club super sprint, but haven't driven it.
  10. Fastest lap times for the race. It seems Williams are finally getting good race pace. Not much seperating them all really. 01 S. Vettel Red Bull 1:20.735 02 M. Webber Red Bull 1:20.915 03 N. 11. Remember on Top Gear where the F1 drivers did a lap in the "resaonably priced car", Webber, Hamilton and Mansell. Think that was all. Should make it compulsory for all current F1 drivers LOL!!!
  12. I had them on my S14, so it fits 280mm rotors direct bolt on, no adapter needed. From memory I think R33 GTST are 296mm so would need an adapter.

  14. And what's wrong with supporting your country's representative in F1? I'm guessing alot of forum members here are Australian, hence the support for Mark Webber.
  15. Yeah funny as! Brundle was saying "Hamilton now up to 18th! He's on a charge!" Yeah up one spot woo hoo!! On another note, the fastest laps of the race were: 01 F. Massa Ferrari 1:15.154 02 J. Button Brawn 1:15.190 03 M. Webber Red Bull 1:15.321 04 F. Alonso Renault 1:15.371 05 K. Raikkonen Ferrari 1:15.382 06 H. Kovalainen McLaren 1:15.672 07 R. Barrichello Brawn 1:15.685 08 L. 16. No I totally understand. I pasted the link to an open face helmet because the original poster of this topic had a preference for open face. I personally run an open face helmet but that was because I bought it when I started rallying as a navigator and the Terra trip intercom system/microphone attached well to the open face design. I also had to ensure my helmet met Snell standards and FIA standards in order to comply with the safety requirements of national CAMS events. Which is why I didn't buy a $40 helmet that only met ADR rules. Now that I'm doing circuit type events my next helmet will be a full face design.
  17. Whatever you do, don't buy a second hand helmet like you mentioned in your post. As said before, spend more than $40 on your head, if you are on a tight budget then try to go for something above the minimum spend like $100-$300. Anything ADR approved will be ok for club level events, but definitely buy something brand new. ERG have reasonably priced helmets, so do Bell and Arai. Just found a link on the net, typed in ERG helmets into google and found a nice open face helmet for only $349.00 Snell approved so it meets very high QA standards. link: http://www.mmsport.com.au/ERG_Helmets.php
  18. Love the shot of the Porsche coming through the esses! Nice angle and great action photo!
  19. Well done Michele. There always room for improvement at Eastern Creek, it's such a long circuit with quite a few different lines to take. Very challenging and high speeds! I've found sometimes at the creek the lap feels quick, but then the clock says otherwise! It's a great track, it was a shame there were so many delays yesterday. Makes it a long slow day and a lot of effort for 15 laps. I managed to shave another 0.5 secs of my previous PB. My goal is to get under 1:50 so I have another 2 secs to find. (miracle required, but will get there somehow!)
  20. Excellent photos by the way. OK, no worries. Thanks, I'll have to make sure I put on a good show for the Creek then!! I always tend to get a bit sideways coming out of turn 2.
  21. You didn't happen to be at Round 2 Oran Park GP on 19/4/09? If not, do you know of any photographers that were present that day?
  22. I say lets make a Jap only series. Divide it up into different categories like: Turbo AWD = GTRs, WRX's, EVO's, GTO's and the like Turbo RWD = GTST's, Silvias, Supra NA RWD = AE86, non turbo Skylines, Silvias NA FWD = FTOs, Integras, Celica, Civics etc... There's plenty of cars out there to fit each category. It would be cool, no bloody Alfa's, MG's and Toranas!!!! You could even go further and break up into engine capacity 1601-2000cc, 2001-3000cc
  23. Yeah it's a little ridiculous! There's definitely an advantage running an Australian delivered Nissan model and keeping it road registered as the freedom for modifications are greater. Especially turbo models. For example, type/class 3D - a road registered R32 GTR you can go to town on the mods, T51R turbo, Motec ECU, full house everything. Run 600+HP with semi slicks, coilovers, big brakes and take out the top prize. Where as a track only unregistered R32 GTR needs to be CAMS log booked, and can enter type/class 3D if it complies with improved production rules, i.e. turbo restrictor. End of the day, it's just a supersprint but some cars fit the rules better and have advantages over others.
