Aussie Supersprint 2011 Eastern Creek
nismoman replied to R32 Stuart's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I'm in! Just sent my form yesterday and paid the entry fee. Not too bad at only $330.00 for 2 days at the Creek! (including Dorian hire) Great way to finish off the year and hopefully a chance to post some new PB's! -
Well the rules say, "must retain standard shock tower", says nothing about using them. Seriously, I'm curious as to what the prize money for winning Superlap/WTAC is outright? Would it be more than winning an Aust. Champ Sports Sedan Championship? Do they have prize money? Do sports sedans even have prize money State or National level? Maybe it's for no money, and just for the glory....

Then go full house S-Chassis with SR23VET simliar to Scorch S15. I still think it didn't go close to it's potential at this years event. Plenty more to come and was fastest Nissan there. Added piccy cause everyone loves looking at hot nissan racecars!!!

That is gold! So great to have it all together on one page. Very nice!
-
What about an S-Chassis with AWD. Say S14 with GTR running gear! Didn't FullRace build one in the USA for time attack? Interesting to hear how it went against EVO's and the like.

Top Trailers - Cardiff. Nice and handy if you're a Novocastrian! I got mine for $3k. Isn't galvanised but they make em to order.

Will barriers or witch hats be used to make the corners/chicanes? -
^^ huh? Who here is calling Schumacher the C word? You are implying that Senna is only considered the greatest ever because he died young and at the wheel of an F1 car? That's a pretty twisted perception you have! It's not cool calling anyone the "C" word and definitely not cool speaking ill of the dead. BTW, I like Schumacher and respect him as a driver. I think you should show more respect for those who have passed.
-
^^ that's a bit harsh. Especially speaking of someone who has passed. Not cool.

MBS206 - Manufacturer's are basically the only ones with deep enough pockets to advance or develop new technology. And they are only going to invest in technology for financial return, i.e. road cars for the masses. What products on a time attack car are really relevant for road cars? I'm with hrd-hr30 here, i think you are expecting too much from this event.

If these cars with the extreme aero don't clock an incredible time, they are going to look even more silly.

Agree that SV rules are a joke. "street registered vehicle with unlimited modifications" Talk about an oxymoron!!! -

Some of the quotes on youtube "Payback's a bitch! and "Racecar road rage!" My thought's exactly. Looks to me like the Aston driver wanted to show he was upset at the GTR, but just screwed the pooch big time! Luckily no one was hurt, just millions of dollars and lots of pride. -
I went for a BA LGP Falcon Wagon. It is an absolutely awesome tow vehicle and doubles up as my family car. Cheap to buy, service and own. Lucky for me it already had a HD tow bar fitted. I just recently added some helper springs to the rear to help prevent sagging. Very happy with it, does everything with ease.

Thanks Harry! It's not too stripped, still lots to go. It weighs 1082kg without me in it. It sounds loud/good (I think) due to the side exhaust I'm running. You're correct with the diff, nice pick up! Stock viscous lsd. It's starting to open wheel and costing me a little time on exit of corners. I need to shim it and get better drive/power down. Only recently has it started to loosen up. I set a PB in the session after that vid with a 1:44.19, finding a further 2 tenths of a second from driving better. It's amazing when you think you found the limit, then you go abit quicker. I hope to go a little quicker next time so maybe 1:43's are on the cards next time.

Cheers mate. S13's rule! Spot on with the gears. I never use anything lower than 3rd gear. Same at Wakefield too. The car has good low down response thanks to the small disco turbo, it is faster using 3rd gear for me. 4.3 ratio diff helps

Eastern Creek Supersprint 22.5.11 Onboard the S13 for a 1:44.4 lap.

The Kumho's are an excellent tyre. The V70A in particular is awesome. I beat plenty of yoki and dunlop shod cars. Definitely worth considering given they come in the correct sizes and perform well.

That's a tricky one. Best thing is to call the Chief Scrutineer for the series: Kerry Butchers on 0412 718 135. He'll be able to confirm. When I first rocked up at beginning of 2009 series, I didn't have a log book and they let me run for the 1st time. I then organised a log book inspection with the scrutineer to be carried out at the next round to get my log book. So it is possible. It's just of recent times the scruitineers have been so anal about anything and everything that I can't say for sure they'd allow it now. Some of the things they have been picking on at scruitineering: Checking gloves to ensure they meet the FIA 2000 standard - we aren't required to wear gloves at a supersprint level. Even though I think it's a good idea to wear gloves, it's not a requirement so I don't know why they hassle people over it. Checking driving suits to ensure they meet standards - we only have to wear non-synthetic ankle to wrist clothing at supersprint level. Again going over the top. Checking that all four tyre valve caps are present and secure. They won't let you out on track without them. Harness's that are mounted from the bottom rear seatbelt mounting points - even though I think it passes the 40 degree angle from the drivers shoulders, the scruitineers don't like it and most probably won't let you run. This one happened to my brother and he told them he'll just wear the standard seatbelt instead. All suction cup devices such as camera's, performance boxes, gps's etc are banned. Whether they are mounted outside or inside the car. Whilst I understand they are doing a job to ensure a high level of safety, sometimes they get carried away! Just giving you the heads up so you know what to expect. -

Free mods: Seat time - practice makes perfect As much front camber your suspension allows. Any extra weight you can pull out. Cheap mods: Plywood front splitter Not much else I can think of without spending a bit of money e.g. frp/carbon hood and boot, camshafts, retune etc.. -
Last year the winning car in clubsprint ran Yokohama Neova AD08. Good start I suppose.

Slicks Vs Semi's - Need Some Help With Tyres
nismoman replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Slicks generally like around between 32 psi to 35 psi hot, so I'd set them at 30 psi cold and adjust from there. -

I think if the ARDC could excavate more land and make room for a tyre barrier on the inside wall of turn 1, it would save alot of cars being written off and also alot of broken bones and concussions. I too have seen too many cars and people broken hitting that wall. -
Time flies for sure. I haven't even gotten around to visiting circuits in other states so you are ahead of me there Harry. My track exposure is limited to: Oran Park (RIP), EC and Wakie. I'll have to save up some money and brownie points somehow and get my bum down to Phillip Island, Winton and Lakeside. QR dosen't really appeal to me. Thanks for the compliments, the car has come a long way since 2008. Progress is slow but it's progress nonetheless. New PB at EC yesterday: 1:44.19 And Stuart, sorry I temporarily hijacked your thread!
