  1. Has anybody else noticed that the USA have only 1 car entered now? What happened to the Scion, NSX and others? No show?
  2. Yeah, stick on Carbon look. A guy on nissansilvia has virtually covered his whole car in it!!! It would be perfect for what you want it for. The look of carbon, without the $$$$ or weight saving.....
  3. I enjoy seeing Vettel brimming with frustration at post race interviews after he has been thoroughly out driven by his team mate. You can almost see the smoke coming out his ears!!! Go Webber!!! BTW- Where's TALBO these days. Been abit quiet now that Webz is finding form!!
  4. I find Eastern Creek more challenging than Wakefield. There are alot more corners to get right (or wrong) and the average speed is much higher and my car is twitchier. Personally, I felt I struggled a little to put in a really good lap yesterday, even though the 1:47.5 was a new PB. It's so challenging, there was always a corner, apex, braking zone etc. I got right in some sections, but then I'd make a small error in another section. It's so hard to put in a perfect lap there! Highlight for me was gunning it through turn 1 sandwiched between 2 sports sedans at around 200kph seperated by a couple of meters and dialing in opposite lock twice as the car squirmed under me grappling for traction. Then heading into turn 2 braking on the limit in close company. Big smiles! Decent turn out too with lots of fast cars. Very competitive series and the lap times keep tumbing. I just want to go faster!
  5. I remember hearing a story about the hotel above the tunnel a while back when someone left the bath running and the water flowed out onto the track? Don't know how true it is, but it's crazy how close to the action you can get at Monaco. I had a friend attend this GP some 5 years ago and he said trying to get around the track to different areas was a nightmare! But he still said it was the best!
  6. Lucky bastard! Always wanted to attend the Monaco GP. Do you have grandstand seats? Whereabouts? Enjoy!
  7. That picture is gold!!! I wonder what has caught his eye? Must be her hairstyle... not! But yeah, I agree. He has to be focused and work hard to keep up with the hamilton's, alonso's etc.. If you got a drive for one of the lower teams like Heikki with lotus or Senna with HRT, you know that you're not going to get results on the race track, so you may as well live up the F1 lifestyle and shag as many hot chicks as you can!
  8. I still can't get over Webber's girlfriend/missus. Seriously, what is he thinking!!! Surely there's gotta be a few babes he shags on the side while on tour? He needs to take a leaf out of Eddie Irvine's book. Remember he spent some time in a Jordan. He also drove for a F1 team named something similar. haha. There's no way I'd be going near that thing in my everyday life, let alone if I was a F1 driver. What a minger!!!
  9. Perhaps the Club class goal of 1:44 is too low? I've done a 1:49 there on semi's with 190rwk's in my Silvia so maybe 1:48 is more realistic? I don't know what type of power and mods the best of the club class cars have? Any ideas on who might be at the top in Club class? Any specs or details on the favourite in Club Class? Only time will tell......
  10. ^^ I reckon that is a good starting point for lap times. Are you talking about the fastest car in each class with those times? There are alot of street registered cars with plenty of mumbo, they could get down to a 1:44 in Club class. Sub 1:40 should be achievable in Open class and I think we may even see a 1:30 in Pro class
  11. One word for you Duncan.... ebay Should be able to flog off any old tyres you don't want real quick and make some room. Plus, you GTR deserves a garage at night!
  12. I know the vdubs can be made quick. I was chatting to Rudi Frank in his sports sedan beetle last weekend and he is not slow. But sorry, I'm going to Eastern Creek to check out all the overseas built time attack cars.
  13. A bit unlucky this clashes with Superlap.
  14. I heard rumors that they were keeping the main straight as one of the streets in the estate, but pretty sure photos earlier in this thread showed all the tarmac being pulled up. I doubt there will be anything left to remind us of one of the best tracks in Aust.
  15. Yes the S13's don't have alot of room, but having a sunroof model makes it worse. There are low mount seat rails available that provide more headroom also. I'm 6ft tall and have no problem but I imagine anyone over 6ft 2 would face difficulties.
  16. This is going to be good. Can't wait to see all the different cars battling it out for lap time supremacy!!!!
  17. I'm way too embarrassed to show any pics of my garage and shed at the moment. Only moved in 4 months ago. I have a double car garage which is roughly 6 x 6 mtrs in size with concrete floor and double sized roller door. It houses the wife's car and car trailer with race car on top. After these two items are in the garage, there is hardly any room for anything. Just some book cases for storage down the sides. I have a tin shed further around the back which is a decent size roughly 4 x 3 mtrs which is yet to be converted to the "workshop". I plan on putting 240v power to it, install power points, fluro lights, benches and shelves. Badhairdave mentioned some excellent points about lighting and benches. This thread will be excellent to get some ideas from to set up my shed properly!
  18. Thanks mate. Tyres are Kumho V70 245/45/17 and I'm using the cheapest, nastiest coilovers available (G4) with drift spec spring rates 12.7kg/mm up front and 9.5kg/mm on rear. Obviously not that great. Suspension is the next thing I'm looking at changing, but it all costs money. I'm happy just to turn up and compete at the moment until I can afford some upgrades.
  19. Thanks Duncan! Yes I actually tried a different line through turn's 3 and 4 like you said in the next session (4) and found it quicker. Less change of direction and smoother. It's the first time I've had in-car footage and it is a very useful tool to improve driving skills. I see so many mistakes in that video!!
  20. Here's the link to youtube video. Session 3 of the day. Last lap was the 1:07.8 Unfortunately I didn't get footage of the 1:07.4 I did in session 4. But I think it's still ok vid to watch.

  22. Cheers guys! It's a new PB for me and it feels great to be setting some semi-decent times in a car my brother and I built from scratch on a very tight budget. I'm slowly climbing up the order and rankings but will never be able to match the might of the R35 GTR's!!! The Silvia has more in it as I didn't have a perfect lap. I ran wide on one apex and out braked myself on the last corner causing understeerbut was still my fastest lap. We could not have asked for a better day really, it was fine, sunny and 21 degrees. The first session of the day was extremely slippery with almost every car in my group running off or turning themselves around. The track came to us later in the day with increased temperature and better grip levels. MX5 club run a very well organised event and I can recommend going to any event they hold. Met some cool guys yesterday and can't wait to catch up with everyone next round at Eastern Creek 16/05/10. I have some in-car footage with me chasing a Torana SS and Brian's R100 but I've got to work out how to edit and upload on youtube and link it etc.
  23. Found some more pics of the world's best garages! http://www.luxury4play.com/automotive/3656...ad-50-pics.html Might be a dream, but you can at least use it for inspiration! Some pics below fo my favourite:
  24. Well I've got a supersprint this weekend at Wakefield Park and I will try running a bit more pressure in them to see how it goes. Previously I've only run a maximum of 35 psi hot in the V70A's and the tyre wear was nice and even. I don't have a pyrometer so can't comment on how hot the tyre was getting in places. If it means I'll gain a bit in lap times Duncan, it's worth a try.
