  1. Do you have a oil cooler with a thermostat in it? i have now seen 2 cars (owner built and installed) lose engines due to incorrect hookup of the remote mount and cooler, oil pressure is fine until the oil reaches temp then the thermostat opens and bang no oil pressure or minimal pressure. Proved with a pressure gauge on both occasions to unbelievers. Make sure the lines are all running in the correct direction, oil flows into the engine through the oil filter thread and into the filter from off the the side of the filter thread... many think oil comes out of threaded section on the block then into the centre of the filter.
  2. BAHAHA its a known fact that bush bearing are far more hardy than BB.... dont post crap.
  3. i like to use a rpm switch and a tps mounted switch, RSM is perfect for the job if you already have one.
  4. wear. incorrect assy, not pre-priming before starting, no oil pressure etc....
  5. yeah but its nice to condense the resolution near peak boost torque areas or where fast increase in boost and rpm occur to get a nice fuel and ign curve etc. Nothing worse than having big steps and relying on interpolation on big hp cars. Had a tubbed pro street car making 700rwhp in last week with a "?????" ecu and the resolution was a real issue.... lazy high nine 1/4's on street rubber but i know it could make more power, run quicker, be more driveable (as its a pro street car) and use far less fuel with a different ecu.
  6. yeah i prefer not to use them either and if i do i supply my own rings, cp's are good but definatley not my first choice. Most of my comp engines running jap pistons (cosworth etc) are set around 2thou piston to bore, ring gaps vary depending on application, even the cp's and arias i set up tighter than they specify.. not quite 2thou though . No machining should be done prior to having pistons micced up and on hand. Machine to suit then hone to suit indiviual fitment... dont ever buy say 20thou ups and just bore the block 20thou..... it will end in a clunker that breaths its ass off..
  7. bottle heater is a necessity IMO as it keeps the hit and therefore the NO2 tune consistant, i ran a heater but no purge as i used most of my gas on the street just being a jerk the softer hit without the purge helped cushion the shock on my auto.... for the first hit anyway i ran a 200hp kit on my old clunker but have done a couple of setups on NA 300zx's and supras lately usually 80-150hp.
  8. remmeber the turbo swings down abit, GT3082R fits in there with a 20mm spacer.
  9. You car seems to be well thought out, the only is get rid of the china coil-overs and fit something decent, the racelogic stuff is junk... a few of the drift cars sponsorsed by racelogic dont even run them. ive played with them in customers cars and cant stand them, G4 or k-sport. Forget the rebuild the R34 GTT donk can play all day @ HIGH 200rwkw's and 17-18psi if tuned well.
  10. 160mm
  11. i think 12 pages back we all agree it is good, ive used both Vipec and Link G4's with great success, but as said a page back if you have a PFC and expect to get more power just by changing over you are wasting your money.... check over the options and if you need extra functionality and are reaching the limits of your current ecu then i cant reccomend the LINK or Vipec enough as they are great to use and driveability is as good as a well tuned PFC remap etc, far better driveabilty than any microtech etc..
  12. yeah brett supplies all my garret gear, never had an issue with GCG unlike other places. Plus i do some weird shite and they are happy to send them out all clocked up and so forth. ive attached those two post's, one has pics of the kit and dump. Kit was a piece of piss to fit. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Rb...&hl=gt3082r http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Dy...&hl=gt3082r
  13. on oil cooler yes, but BAD idea on radiator.
  14. a set of gizzmo inlet gaskets makes a world of differrence.
  15. GCG do a dump to fit. I fitted one of these kits a few weeks back and posted up the results.
  16. haha dont be too harsh on the LINK as the vipec support in melb is ZERO, up in qld i think you guys get a bit spoiled, Rays backup is second to none and many other ecu companies should take note.. Here are the products and the equivs. G4 plug in for R33 GTST, GTR, EVO, S14 etc is $1260 +gst (this is the equiv of the plug in vipecs i have bought.) G4 extreme (wire in) $1890+gst (i believe this is LINKS equiv to V88) G4 Storm (wire in) $1290+gst (i havent used one yet)
  17. send them to wade or ivan tighe and get them repaired.
  18. haha our shop runs fine i just like to go the extra mile for our customers and provide a service others dont, i figure a little backwards step for the right person is always rewarded at least double in return business (which proved correct) the fact we are booked for months in advance is enough re-assurance for me, we have two new guys starting in coming months (both well respected in thier fields). In fact i have no regrets from moving on and selling our multimillion dollar a year business to concentrate on something smaller, more personal and more niche. Somewhere that the dollar and bottom line does not dictate how to treat our customers... In the above case all i was saying i could have fitted the G4 extreme (not storm) which has far more features that the plug in V44 VIPEC unit for the same money.
  19. Roy give chris a call on he was chasing some 57's for a customer 0405 703380
  20. this is what i was asking from the start but no one gave a str8 answer... hence my dissapointment when i fired it up and it was the same as the G4's i had tuned previous. The G3 LINK does plug in via the adapterlink (no wiring) not the one i posted above... G4 plugs in as per vipec. i do have a clue, and have independant unbiased experience ( i am not a touting puppet for a particular brand and never will be) tuning every make of ECU available here is aus. The problem is i can only base my views on what i see and hear and in the case of the VIPEC i was fed conflicting shit, yet still at the end of the day was extremely happy with the product... just not the supply chain or the fact the dealer here in vic is so useless they dont even hold stock..... $1650 was only the start as i had to buy it retail + freight so i made nothing on the unit, i offered to tune it for nothing so i could learn its all new features..... but i need not have worried as its the software is the same as link's. All up i was out of pocket $2000++++ to help out a customer in a jam. I could have fitted a far superior G4 extreme for the same money was my point.....
  21. the operator has just printed the wrong torque graph, he has printed tractive effort not actual torque. as for 280rwkw out of a GT2871R..... there is no way i can think of to crack that power without E85.

  23. i must admit i hated the link until the G3 came along, now that i have done a few G4 and plug in skyline and SR20 ecu's im a 100% supporter hence i was a little dissapointed when i went out and payed a small fortune for a vipec only to find out i could have just used the LINK as i buy them better. i should have researced it better than just taking DIRTGARAGES word for it that it was a NEW ecu as it isnt. BUT my experience aside whether you choose to buy the LINK /VIPEC it is a definate winner especially for those looking for a great PLUG IN ecu that offers great plug in driveabilty and tuneabilty... i rate it 9/10
  24. ive been thinking of having a play with these as both are hi impedance, the plugs are differrent and im pretty sure the tops are larger on the XR6 injectors... so not drop in though.
