Guilt-toy Installs Vipec V44 Plug In.. & Base Tuned
STATUS replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
nice ECU's hey, the base tune makes life a breeze (ie starting, moving etc). I've been using a lot of links latley (got to play with the new G4 extreme on a turbo bimmer) as i can get them cheaper than the VIPEC... has anyone else with the VIPEc had map sensor issues? ive got one here that flatlines regulary, hoping to hear back from ray soon on a replacement. -

Interesting Dyno Test On New Hypergear Turbo.
STATUS replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Nah i dont sorry. but here is the website http://www.digi-hardware.com/ i reckon this turbo on a SR20 would be sweet, this turbo may also be available in a 0.82 to suit RB25 which i would also be keen to test.... The hard part is finding cars to do the testing on, i dont use customers as guinea cops, and will only use proven products. Tao has bought a R33 which ready for testing in january so i cant wait. -
This is by no means a advertisement for hypergear (we do ALOT of product development for different companies), i just feel the result is quite impressive... and it has fuelled me to get involved with thier RB25 high flow and bolt on turbo. Which i hope to test in the new year. What impressed me the most was torque, it is very rare for me to see a 4cyl make over 420nm so when this pulled over 500nm i was floored... especially as it is on a CA18DET (if you look at the final graph i have overlayed it with a RB25DET with HKS GT-RS... I attached the graphs of the testing, each run was tuned to suit. Startting at 18psi and working up until peak efficiency (25psi) we found at 26 psi it flattened off. Bear in mind these are all done with the std internal wastegate and a turbosmart tee, so ever so slightly better results would be reached with an ebc (small drop in boost with the tee... only bout 1- 2psi) For those about to tout the the dynapck power differrence thing... we anticipated it and ran it on DR DRIFTS dyno (MAINLINE) first where it pulled just over 240rwkw, on the first tuned run here it pulled within 1 or 2rwkw (see red line) results 281rwkw and 502nm out of a built but stock headed CA18DET.

Tuned..... 1002hp R34 T88gk 18cm Monster!

there is ZERO way to fudge the dyno it has ZERO owner inputs which affect power output. Car saw the track a week or so and had a few issues apparentley so was unable to complete a full run but from what i heard from some of my other customers the cars was still sideways at 3/4 when it came close to taking out the timing box so hopefully they can fine some speed and put a decent time on the cards. id be happy fo the car to go to another dyno under my supervision and run by the owner of said dyno and if ames wnats to do that i wld even pay for the time, but at the end of the day neither i or the customer have anything to prove... it is his car and his perogative. i could post up another batch of cars making well over 700hp that have proven themselves at national dyno comps but that doesnt seem to make a differrence....... i dont need to prove anything to anyone other than the customer if they are happy then thats all that matters. -

car was on semi slicks..... been covered 100000000000000000 times already..... unfortunatley the owner though semis worked better on dyno... the exact opposit is true. -

well done boys, big effort well rewarded. -
To clear everything up this was at my workshop, i proudly stand by EVERYTHING I DO and is one of the reasons im happy to post this instead of hiding. In fact i went way way outta my way to help LIZ as it seemed she had been fleeced at other workshops (i even charged WAY under normal Rates) i took photos of the cams etc and sent via email explained everything upfront, but liz's car for want of a better term was a basket case and i tried to make the best of a bad situation for her. TO BE HONEST i feel as though ive been setup.... Posting this will no doubt bite me on the ass but it seems everytime you bend over backwards to help someone it ends in tears..... NOW on the first visit i refused to put it on the dyno as the engine was noisey in particular the head, the top end was thrashing itself to bits (engine was generally noisey)... (inlet cam was missing a lobe) we replaced the cams with 2nd hand low kay s15 units, new lifters and rockers and spray bars, did not have time to put it on the dyno so it came back a week or so later. Car came back for a tune, pulled the rocker cover to asses if cams etc were ok... did a full flush and oil change (including magnetic oil filter) to make sure any metal residue floating around from previous damage got flushed or caught. Put it on the dyno with stock ECU, AFR's on the dyno were 14:1 under full throttle (pulled power run early) .... dangerously lean... so this car was running lean for how long ? i pulled std ecu fitted PFC and did all the cruise and low end stuff, pulled a power run and noticed a rattle, pulled it off dyno and left it at that. this is the only complaint i have ever had and is is far from my fault.

Why in hell is the operator using flywheel KW?? i own the same dyno and have never used this feature.... your figure seems pretty low mostly because of boost, you should be able to safely run 16psi all day, ive done a few NA+t's pushing mid 200's and they often see track days...

i thnk you should read this..... make life 1000 times easier. http://www.nistune.com/documentation.html awesome product, they also have the best aftersales and purchase / delivery times of any ecu dealer ANYWHERE.
-
this was the particular turning point..... i was talking about. WHTSKY i have not used or had a TR43 in the shop yet... all have been the bigger profiles which seem to pull 220-240

yup ping is power.... obviously.

i was one of the early hypergear haters as i had a few fail (years back) and refused to tune or touch them but about 3 months or so back i finally bowed to cusomer pressure and i have had a bit of hypergear stuff come through and i can honestley say for vaue (kw vs $$$ )for money it certainly is hard to beat, customer service is spot on, they are also built locally in melb by probably australias 2nd best turbo tech shop (behind GCG) so the background tech and actual assy should be 2nd to none (or only one ). so if you cant afford a garret or boutique brand the hypergear is about the only thing i'll touch atm.

just block it, it needs vaccum at idle only. That is the carbon purge valve.
-
nitto have drag radials upto 20 or 22 now.... not that im saying they were running them... congrats on the 10.80 thats damn quick.
-
to be honest those chasing a dejtro have probably changed turbo and the vct is of little consequence wityh a bit of tweaking. that said i do a few AFM to pipe conversions, but usually cut the afm out of the housing as it tends to explode over 18psi there is a few people making alloy housings but they are overpriced.
