  1. HPF 100% do it i saw some 350z graphs, saw some gains so i presume its legit. I have a turbo vq35 coming in 2 months so i need a solution before then
  2. i dont reckon there would be an issue... happy to ask the question from the horses mouth if you want?
  3. few doing flash on them apparently now scotty, im not one of them though not sure what system they are using... but ive been told there is a few now... that do all vq's
  4. agreed it is possible to get a lower it if you run it near the pod as the wind chill cools the sensor tip. should not inflate power at all.
  5. generally early 1jz wont do it unless its had 2jz injectors as the run out 220-230 same as rb25's, the jzx 100's are the same power-wise. I have had some so called 240-250 rwkw cars (jzx100 and soarers) come in from zxy here in vic and both cars made 220ish not 250. I'm not saying you cant make one super hairy pass and make the power but sustained running will end in tears.
  6. Hey stao, any sign on the piston crowns of the massive leanout and subsequent det fest when the afm lead came off @ 6800 and 25psi? It was the most evil noise i have ever heard emanate from my headphones (even for the maybe 1 sec it did it for)... did you find out who modified the plug so it could fall out?
  7. Oh bugger that is a slight oversight..... any answer from your mechanic mate?
  8. 220 at most safely though, 260 plain impossible.
  9. and you can set far more hysteresis for closed loop operation.... skys the limit
  10. knock sensors? if so i would look at the application, ie fixed or multi car setup. For me it needs to move from car to car daily so i would use new bosch donuts (which wire up different to nissan oem donuts) and this allows me to pick locations on various cars as they are easy to make adapters for.. If it was to be a permanent install i would look at the ecu, if it has knock feedback or similar i would fit up a secondary pair of bosch sensors. If the ecu is deaf to knock sensors i would remove the std ones and fit new bosch ones to the factory position.
  11. They are very good, ive had a few jap cars come over with them installed but bear in mind a quick search and you can now pickup the gizzmo one for about $500 (usa) and the wideband for $150 ish... market has dropped its pants in the usa if it is a permanent install in one car then the HKS unit is a nice one stop solution and its a got good ergos as a dash mounted unit. TBH i have been looking @ buying one and implementing it into our dyno (with longer flying leads for the dual knock and 02 sensors) as the unit also has a analogue knock output... would be nice to plot it against afr / lambda to have a visual as well as a audible warning. I had the gizzmo wired in to the dyno but it required a usb connection to function so im logging on two pc's.. one in the car the other was the dyno unit... no point as it was too bulky.... so i removed it and got the gibson developed knock box which is just as good as the gizzmo unit but has noise cancelling headphones, only drawback is it has no outputs... and is $1100
  12. i got the latest toughbook ($6500) ex army or popo from ebay $450.. its killer... gps logging, touchscreen etc i even reverted to serial on my nistune interface cable and it has NEVER dropped a connection with any tuning suite. I used to use $2000 asus, Toshiba etc but was forever chasing connection faults.... in fact lappy im on now was my old (1800 dollar) tuner laptop and it great for everything.... except tuning.... its become the most expensive net book ebay browser ever
  13. i had a r34 gtr that was getting hot in traffic....tried evrything then pulled the pump as a last resort and found it to an N1 pump... fitted a std gtr item and it fixed the issue.. put the n1 pump on our drift car and it worked fine. In a street car it just didnt flow enough at lower rpm... thats the only real work comparo ive done
  14. that whats what i was after
  15. Hmm these flow more than the T04Z as a pair if its the HKS kit im thinking of... think equivalent of the lower spec T88 and T51's.. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/308953-cams-to-use-with-hks-2835-52t-turbines/
  16. japanese one is easy enough to use.
  17. it must see a myriad of constraints before it engages, i will try find it as i have it somewhere.
  18. No no hard feelings at all, glad to hear your story from the horses mouth i was informed incorrectly my apology as is so often the case
  19. killer kits, i sold one years ago and it ended up on the jms drift car which was then rebuilt by mark phillips and used in da, big power and with the right housing super responsive BUT i sold the last remaining NEW housing from japan to mark about 4 years back so there would be little chance of chasing a new one nowadays. Run it as is from the pics it looks to be one of the smaller ones anyway so... yeah bolt it on or sell it to me. This and the blitz k5 are my two favorite turbos.
  20. explains all the trouble i went through with our name then.. i was told they were informed by someone off here.. bit of a shame really hardly the same trade...but could not be stuffed with the legal costs (our lawyer quoted up to 15k) as we could have won due to on prior usage... documents from early 90's predated the trademark... maybe oneday we will revisit the issue.
  21. i reckon the ignitor chip is damaged, the early ones were to close to the case slides and the board would be damaged upon removal and install. What letter is on the main board? look inside there will be a letter A B C D or later ones are E e-manages can fickle at the best of times and unfortunately due to the crazy factory R33 (most other cars dont have a timing map that goes from 9-18-5 in one load line) mapping the emanage is not the best solution even if it all runs sweet. We do alot of them and most we've been able to extract with one is around 410rwkw but R33 factory ecu makes it hard to tune nicely... its adequate but far from nice.
  22. i think we got a bung board No diag faults logged and weird delivered timing, swapped out the board tonight so fingers crossed its fixed... Very odd as we have never had a board fault in 4 odd years... always a first though.
  23. ^^ swap the wisecos for... anything else im a wiseco fan (all my bikes run them) but not a fan of their rb pistons.
