  1. Quite easily by the look of it. My $5 bet says it will just make it to 9 pages then get closed. My opinion. Illegal or not I don't think it really matters in the end. If you ninstall it you run the risk of being defected. No different to a shiny front mount, low suspension, aero or whatever. It is your own car, modify it as you wish. If you want it to be high quality and not just another half ass'd attempt at a "perfect car" then you need to plan all your mods before you start and keep it all to a style/theme. You can't build a racer with neon's/leather interior/stereo etc. It just wont work as a package. Just as you cant build a "sex-spec" ride with a set fixed back racing seats and a stripped interior. It all comes down to what you want out of the car. You cant impress everybody, and you wont impress a lot of people here because the Skyline is known to be from the "racer" category. Hence people here will respect cars of that category. I say. As long as you keep everything you do matching, know that neon's wont pick up chicks and enjoy what you do. GO FOR IT. Cheers. Luke
  2. Just want to mention that this car is definitely as well looked after as the post mentions. They are good photos but still don't do the car justice. Absolutely immaculate in the flesh inside and out and just as good on the road. It'll be a shame to see it go. Luke
  3. One image to sum this topic up So its definately possible. But the results are "epic fail". If you need a Skyline. Get yourself a Non turbo 33 or 34, Get some coilovers, sway bars and a quality catback exhaust. Then save like mad to buy yourself a GTR for your 21st Birthday. My 2c. Luke

    My R35

I'm loving the look of that Exhaust. BTW those mini-ramps are ingenious. Ive never come across them before. Where abouts can you get them? Ive always used a scissor jack behind the wheel to get it high enough to slip the jack under. Looks like some pretty good design under there regarding aerodynamics. Must be a pain taking it off to do any work though.
  5. Before I did exhaust and cooler, I had previously changed my 33 to 7psi all the way through the factory boost solenoid. This was confirmed by an A/M boost gauge. When I added the Catback exhaust and Front mount IC (front half of exhaust came later), my boost increased upto roughly 9psi. However didn't notice any change when I completed front half of the exhaust. Luke
  6. Also agree. When I get the game I wont be impressed if a decently modified GTR doesn't sound realistic, likewise cars like the Ferrari engine notes, American Muscle Cars(Most games never get the V8 sound to work), Rotary's, boxer engines. etc You cant call yourself a simulation unless these things are accurate. I only play sound through the basic tv speakers but without decent sound you cant get into the moment. I am confident they wont be too far off the mark this time at least on a portion of the cars. Based purely on the GT academy's tuned car sound. Sounded like I would expect from that type of car without having heard what the real thing at that state of tune really is like. Luke
  7. I love that feeling when you make the decision. No. I will not stoop to that level and immediately they get busted. Just makes you think that decision just saved SOOOO much headache, my license and possibly a lot of work getting the car roadworthy, and in several peoples cases a license is also a job. So potential house repayments as well.
  8. Hey guys. Just wondering if anybody knows what sort of temperature I should be prepared for when reconnecting turbo water lines back together with a non metal section of tube (Just a short piece to use as a joiner). I have fuel hose at home rated to 150 degrees that I can also add a heat shield around to assist. It wont be resting up against the turbo. But will obviously be in the vicinity of the turbo and dump pipe. Any ideas if my fuel hose rated at 150 degrees should be up to the task of running coolant for a very short section around the turbo? Cheers. Luke
  9. I see the main hate against them is not actually the car itself, but the general demographic that drive them. Cheap rwd car that pulls a skid, easy to throw lots of power into them with the right engine choice. Lacking handling but once again it was produced to be used as a family car. Nice big barge to cart the family around in. Also, most VN people seem to be into skids and straight line stuff. I find the same thing with my 1999 VS Statesman. It is good for its designed purpose. Its a bit like a gts and a gtr. It can be made to compare to a much sportier car. But you will always be playing catch up.
  10. Stick with Silver. Little bit less Ricey.
  11. I believe the term is "Social Blowfly's" They always hang around and think they are cool, but they aint and noone likes them.
  12. Technically this particular one being 15yo was banned Made the front page of the local paper today. Didn't really have much useful info. Claimed the car was Daddys, failed prelim breath test, refused to go back to station for the 2nd test. Paper didn't mention the "found" plates. etc. Funnily enough also didn't mention hooning which was quite incredible for a newspaper. Too busy focusing on drink driving. Luke
  13. Probably the only option you have is to try and get a photo of each of the parts as well as a photo of your car. (all at roughly the same angle). Then start learning photoshop to edit it all together yourself. Either that or post up all the pictures you have in the computer art category on this site and someone might be able to do it for you if you dont have access to the program. Either way start finding photos of all the parts you want (installed or uninstalled- Similar color to your car makes it easier though) Hope that helps. Luke
  14. Yeah, we are focusing on our backyard for same reason. Very peaceful. Just need to make a few birdfeeders to encourage more to come visit. I'm not a big fan on most fences either. Rather do the job with plants. A few nice large thick shubs with some 1/2 metre steel bollards held in by a dollop of concrete. That way the thick shubs will grow over the bollards and conceal them so it wont look ugly. I think this is the plan we are going to stick with. It is better then my wife's initial plan (before this happened) of creating a set of spikes concealed by shrugs aiming upwards on a 45 degree angle like a set of spears to stop a cavalry charge. I told her she would end up in jail if anyone every actually ended up in the garden. Love those ideas that were never truely thought about.
  15. Unless you have your heart set on an S15. I wouldn't change. Especially considering in 5 years time you'll have the exact same argument you have now. Resell value etc. As for all the other running costs etc. It would be negligible considering you would have this new car and think. Ok. I need wheels, exhaust, stereo, turbo etc to be happy. Then all of a sudden your in exactly the same position you are now. Id stick with the Skyline. Get the Aesthetic fixes done first, install the power fc. Start saving for wheels. You say money isnt a huge issue. So I would focus your saving on the house loan. Maybe try and put $50 or so per week aside purely for the car with everything else you can spare away from living into the house loan. Do the car in stages so at least 1 section is complete for you to enjoy whilst you prepare for the next bit. If things get tight you have the turbo and z32 that you could sell if you needed to, otherwise hang on to those until you know your ready to take the plunge with the injectors and pump. You can do both. Just you wont be able to achieve everything with the same speed. Im not sure how old you are but my opinion is keep working on the car. As long as the house is paid off by the time your 40. (I have every intention of having a mid life crisis and a house loan will only hold me back. ) Luke
  16. Lol. So completely True They wont learn their lesson. Even the cop said they will get away with it. The courts don't do shit. Suspended sentence, maybe a half hour community service. Not to mention the street they come from is well known for throwing rocks at cars when they drive past as well as a police standoff with a dad threatening his kids a few years back. Not many useful individuals come out of that area. To the people that care. The tree is doing well. No falling sap, just lost a bit of bark and seems to be ready and waiting for the next challenger.
  17. 2 words. - Buy it. Probably at least half of us here would be running there swaybars at minimum, if not a mix of other odds and ends. Luke
  18. Hey guys. Just thought id do a quick post regarding the first night of the year. Last night about 12:00. Bunch of kids managed to get there VN/VP commodore sideways around the corner near my house. Needless to say, the tail snapped back and put there car off the road and lodged into the only tree we have in our front yard (thankgod it only got the tree). I was a bit slow getting out of the house (bit ugly on myself for not rushing now), by the time I got out a couple of neighbours were already out there. And the driver and his 2 friends had done a runner into the darkness. Car hit the tree on the drivers side roughly near the front wheel and crushed the dash against the windscreen. Shock horror. There was a beer can stuck behind the steering wheel on the dash as well. Driver odviously hurt himself however the other 2 were fine. Police came and after a short search the kids were found. Turned out to be a 15 year old driver. His own car. But he "found" the number plates on the side of the road (And put both front and rear plates on upside down), police said they had also pulled the car up 2 days earlier with diff driver hence why they had a good feeling they knew which way they ran. Either way. Tow truck rocked up just before 2 am to remove the car which the front drivers side was completely mangled. Definite write off. Luckily the damage for us was just some dirty black marks on the road outside our house, some dug up grass on our nature strip and the tree lost some bark. Lol at how little damage it took to destroy the car. Just need to pick up all the glass in our front yard now. Just a quick vent. We get so many late night hoons near our place. All they need is a few speed bumps but it will nether happen. Just another tick in the Bendigo Hoon capital of Victoria box to help hurt the people who try to do things properly. 2nd vent. God I wish I got my ass into gear quicker to get out there to throttle em. Quite shitty at myself actually. 3rdly. Thank god they got the tree and not the house. The wife and I were out there today considering putting in a hedgey garden out the front with the plants hiding Metal Bollards in concrete for a bit of extra protection. (She been scared this would happen for over a year now.) Didnt get any photos that turned out due to the dark. But just imagine a very old tired looking Silver VNish commodore with half the front and side mashed in and the number plates upside down. Luke.
  19. Now someone feel free to correct me if they want. But to my knowledge the coolant actually increases the waters boiling temperature above 100 degrees. (besides other tasks). Either way I've never heard anything good about running water only. That said I ran water only and lost my radiator cap on my old pintara about 6 or so years ago. Had no issues driving around like that (with no cap) for a week before I got a new cap (I don't condone this at all though). I babied the car the whole time though
  20. Sounds exactly what I need. Lol. realisticly 30cm's would be 2 much. Probs about 20cm's would do it. If you do have anything lying around I would'nt be able to pick it up. But let me know how much and I could do it. I'm sure there would be minimum quantities to order in from manufacturer. Cheers. Luke
  21. Lol I was going to say a Barbarian Grasshopper wearing a cockroach trophy helmet.
  22. Hey Guys. Just a quick question regarding the Turbo's Oil return line. On attempting to reconnect the Flanges back together. Im about an inch short. Now it appears to be a 3/4 line. Trying to find some 3/4 line that is garrentee'd to handle the heat that is a stocked item seems to be difficult. Any ideas on what I could use that will DEFINATELY be suitable? I have considered ordering in some braided line to go between the 2 barbs. But for the small amount that I actually need compared to the price by the time I get a metre or so. There needs to be another option. Cheers. Luke
  23. Not everyone has a budget for $2000 + coilovers. Not to mention if they are only looking cruising/street use and not circuit use they are wasting money getting "racey" suspension when just a simple spring and shock combo will suit the cars actual purpose better. Theres nothing wrong with being cheap when the result will be more suitable for the task at hand. If your ragging on the "has to be cheap" crew that are SO cheap they cut springs to lower the car as well as all the other very nasty "cheap mods" that are just purely unsafe as a result. Different story, because they bring us all down. If you get a set of lowered springs. Make sure you get matching shockers to suit. Cost a fraction more. But will be much nicer. This will still be much cheaper then a full set of coil overs and give a nicer ride.

    Autobarn

The Autobarn local here although there is a couple I wonder about but for the most part they are spot on. One thing is quite a few products they have are very poor quality. Although the salesperson I usually deal with, straight out said. If your going to be doing this. I'll order in the same thing from a diff brand cuz its much better (Silicon Vac hose and larger joiners). One of the other blokes there is actually looking for a part at home probs tommorow and letting me know if he has some spare bits at home because I dont need huge quantitys. (3/4 braided line is not an everyday product), and heat resistant material for under the bonnet. (dont need a huge pack). My opinions regarding the LOCAL autobarn. For general bits and pieces that arent going to cost and arm and a leg. They are good. For special orders. Ive found they are expensive on MOST items compared to internet. However they were very competitive when it came to whiteline products. (To the point I bought my swaybars through them compared to the whiteline website). (Same price) In saying that. Ive been in a few other Autobarns around melb, and thought this is alright at first. However as soon as the first salesperson opened his mouth I couldnt get out of there quick enough. Purely Terrible. Luke
