Hey Guys. Just putting the idea out there to anyone interested. Test and Tune on at Heathcote Park Raceway on the 29th May (Sunday). Im taking my 33 out for its maiden voyage on the strip with its new turbo. There'll be a few friends coming along. (Nothing crazy out of my friends - one is even borrowing my standard V6 statesman cuz his corolla mightn't make it). Hoping to fly the import flag above the usual V8 1600kg+ cars that usually frequent the area. Be great to see some more Nissans make it there. Luke

Taken during Dyno run on Thursday. Cheers. Luke

Finally got to Racepace yesterday for the cars longly awaited tune. Results were a little down on what I hoped for, but im happy with the result nontheless. I got a bit of a shock when it started putting out a few flames from the exhaust. I didn't relise that could happen whilst running a cat. Either way. Final result was 245rwkw. Cheers. Luke

Having 2 cars for me is a must. I also have a 99 Statesman. As much as I dont like it, my wife doesn't drive and she hates "what the skyline has become" but likes the statesman. Keeping up with 2 rounds of rego and 2 rounds of insurance is difficult. ($960 due right now actually for the skyline on Shannons "drive part time"). That being said. I couldn't drive the Skyline everyday it hasn't been modified that way not to mention I am nervous as it is driving it once a week that I will get pulled up and not getting any lubicant If you leave the car fairly standard then they are a great enjoyable daily. Once you start getting it to a more track intended level then it'll probably start getting more and more frustrating. Luke

Does It Feel Like Your R33 Is Outdated?
l_uk3y replied to crazyr33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I myself believe that yes. The R33 is outdated. It also happens to be 15ish years old. lol. That being said. I also own a 99 statesman. Regulary drive a current shape statesman, and use a work car which is one of the latest shape wagons. Although they look newer and more current. They don't feel newer to me. There just seems to be no "soul" in them to actually drive. My wife always tell me off because I dont look after our statesman the same and gets angry when I say I hate it and it doesn't deserve the same treatment as the skyline It wouldnt help that you have a non turbo version as you wont have the power to keep up with the V8's. However you can easily fix that and put a turbo on it. Another option would be to look at an R34 GTT. They don't cost a whole lot these days and powerwise will hold there own straight from the shelf. They also dont look much more modern in the interior and exterior. I can garrentee to you though that with your non turbo R33, a change of suspension parts, lightweight wheels and a new exhaust to give it some noise, you will make them look dated on a nice windy road. Commo's feel like absolute Poo in the corners. Current model V8 = All engine and shiny paint. Luke -
Quick photo of the back seat. Its not that exciting. But gives a bit of an idea. The padding around the bolts for the harnesses is to reduce the noise everything I corner or hit a bump.

Just Jap. Took a lil bit of trimming and adding to fit. Otherwise it aint too bad. Just replaces the factory lip. Gives it more of a sporty look to the front without looking over the top whilst keeping the strength and fit of the factory frontbar. Luke

Hmm. i've looked through my files. Nothing of the backseat area atm. basically consists of the harnesses, no backseat. Sound deadening peeled off with a rough attempt at painting it in a matching silver color. Small Fire extinguisher behind the center console. Once the tune is done ill be looking at getting it to Heathcote park for a 1/4 mile pass asap. I also want to get to a Winton fun day to give circuit a go. but need a brake upgrade and oil cooler first Luke

For the BOV return line. Once everything was in place. I made a pvc dummy piece made up to match up to the new positions. Then took it to a stainless company to make up the new line in SS. Then just used little rubber joiners to connect it. The breather fittings are all AN fittings with Braided line. The new intake pipe (the one the BOV line also went to) I also had a thread welded to that so i could attach my AN fitting. Otherwise all the breather lines run exactly as standard. Except for the bypass to go to the Catch Can. As for the Front Lip. It has been bolted to the front bar near the front wheels. And underneath i made up a few metal brackets that help hold it to the front bar. It was already a fairly tight fit. And the metal brackets were an afterthought. The lip needed a bit of modification to fit. It didn't clear the pipework for the intercooler so had to be trimmed. We also cut it in half and added about 5-8mm of fibreglass to make it reach. My opinion on it being ricey is that it still uses the standard front bumper, and doesn't have anything odd protruding out of it. So it cant be too bad. Luke

The Cannon Exhaust is about to go though. Looking to cut the tip off and weld something a bit quieter on the end to try and get a crisper less droney note

Updated photos. Seats are now done, harnesses back in. Looks like I'll be waiting until march for the tune. Rego and insurance just came. lol. Feedback would be great. Also currently working on a photoshop verson of my car with the current front bar but using gtr guards and new wheels. With filled front bar to line up. Will upload for opinions once complete

Being an NA. I would look towards a 2.5" Catback system with a Sports muffler (but not a cannon). Its all well and good to go a cannon. Noise with a cannon is awesome when your on the power, but not that much fun when your trying to just drive around unnoticed.

I use them for day to day use. Not a bad tyre for street duty at about 180rwkw. Never put them through their paces on the track though. That said I will most likely be upgrading next time I am in the market to tyres to something a bit more track orientated.

Hey mate Whilst I'm no expert of this. Any removal of numbers sounds dodgy to me. Plus the disappearance of a broker sounds equally as sus. I would keep as closer eye on this as possible to make sure you get as much $$$ back as you can. Cheers. Luke

Whilst I'm not a huge fan of those taillights. After seeing that image they just got a lot cooler Luke

Lol at the fail. And here I was hoping there was a new import magazine on the way.
-
If I'm reading that correctly then that is a very harsh penalty. But who's too say that is the exact story as it happened. Impossible to tell with the media these days. Luke

Stick with something that comes with roadworthy for sure. Can potentially save sooo many headaches getting it on the road. Nothing wrong with the selection of car. Just incase though it wouldn't hurt to get it checked out by your preferred mechanic to get his/her assessment to look for any issues. Luke

You have a long way to go before you reach the "style" on that front bar. At least your aiming to be originall. Not my cup of tea but at least it would stand out from the crowd. Its your ride. Don't let the general reaction stop you doing what you want to do. For your purposes maybe airbags would suit seen as you want to drop it right down for photo shoots but lift it for normal use, as you certainly don't sound like you have track intentions. Luke

What Music To Listen To In R33 Skyline
l_uk3y replied to R33Keaton's topic in General Automotive Discussion
"I like big butts and I cannot lie" Lol. Seen as I'm an R33 driver I shouldn't stir them up. My opinion. Get rid of the back seats, get rid of the sound deadening. And enjoy the combined sounds of road noise, engine noise and Fuel Pump whirl. Its hard to beat. I just put the back seat back in the car to get my front seats engineered. Completely ruins the sounds of the ride. Passengers won't agree though. Luke -
New Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept
l_uk3y replied to dark-knight's topic in General Automotive Discussion
It is over the top. But so is Lamborghini in general. You shouldn't buy a super car (esp a Lambo) if you want something subtle. I thinks its awesome. -
It can definitely be done. Hardest part will be space and bleeding knuckles, and in my case I found the Coolant lines due to unforeseen issues. Luke
-
Very Cool. No idea where you would find a rim to suit it though. Look good on a Ford GT or similar.
-
I bought my 33 from them about 4 years ago. Was happy with them to deal with and would happily go back again if there was a next time. Only issues that ever come up with the car were related to the modifications I have added. Luke

Does Anyone Know The History On This Car? Just Bought It
l_uk3y replied to skylinessuck's topic in Victoria
I wouldn't worry about the Splitfire coil packs. Be glad that its one less thing you need to worry about changing "When It happens" Id certainly be getting it checked out by a trusted mechanic. esp in relation to the potential crash damage you mentioned. I would also try to give it as gooda test drive as possible. Testing the entire rev range to make sure it feels properly bolted together as well as testing its handling (within reason of course) to try and see if the crash damage as effected the handling at all. Certainly put it through its paces to make sure you don't hand over the money then find in a months times that its falling apart around you leaving you with a massive repair bill. Luke
