cheers guys. Any special type of grease??? I still have some of the grease left over from my Whiteline swaybars (the little sachets). Would that be suitable and not cause any trouble?

Hey guys. Currently trying to put my CAS sensor back in and its causing me grief. I've had it out a couple of years ago and it went back in with no troubles at all. This time around its giving me the irrits. I'm lining it up so the "key" bit goes into its spot. However after several nights of trying it always goes in to the point where about 5mm of gap remains between the cas and the Front engine cover. I've had a look down the hole with a torch and I cant see any reason why it wouldn't be going all the way in. (story of my life!! ). Nothing appears to be out of place or broken. Any tips that may sort this problem out??? Cheers. Luke

Which Suppliers Recommended For Hose Fittings
l_uk3y posted a topic in General Automotive Discussion
Hey guys Just trying to get a bit of an idea on what suppliers/companys people can recommend when it comes to buying their choice of brand when it comes to quality fittings for breather hoses and other misc bits. There appears to be a wealth of different suppliers and brand names out there. Just interested to know peoples opinions and dealings. Who do you recommend? Also what size hose/fittings should be used for general breather setups (i.e to catch can and back into intake. etc) Reason being I have previously used 1/2 braided line for my catch can and after looking in a russell brochure at Autobarn it appears to be a fairly uncommon size in terms of fitting availability. Cheers. Luke -
In our defense we opted for smaller capacity engines. Say the same comment on something like street commodores and it will have a whole new meaning. P.S. In terms of this rule. It really doesn't sound like she was selling for a friend. Just trying to find out a business whom can do a particular service. Hence a locally discussed topic makes more sense then a general topical discussion under the suspension banner. I don't really see the issue personally. Luke

New Updates. Connection between turbo and AFM is completed out of PVC (guide only). Just need to mark out where I want the BOV return and breather fittings welded on before I take that to a stainless mob to get made up properly. Also the metal pipe that goes from turbo outlet to intercooler (blue in the following pics) will be getting remade in stainless as well. All a bit of a tight fit but has a little bit of play. Most importantly I get to keep the factory air box which was a priority of the build. Next step after I get the Stainless pipework made up is to figure out what to do with the breather fittings on the Cam covers and what pipework to use on the BOV return line. After that I guess its getting close to time for me to bite the bullet and finally build up motivation to start work on that factory Plenum Also need to conjure up some Fiberglass covers for the back of engine bay (Ugly) and an air guide to the air box (to hide most of the vacuum lines around the boost control) Whilst I still have a fair a fair bulk of the parts out. I'd love to hear any suggestions of anything that stands out as being something I should do whilst its out to save pulling it apart again a month after its done. Cheers. Luke

This is roughly what I am planning at this stage. 3" reducer to match a short piece to connect the factory intake. This will connect me no worries to the turbo. This would be easy with a pod however it appears it will create clearance trouble trying to get it back onto the AFM. Also due to the new turbo being further forward the BOV return line will need to be modified as well to make that work as well. At this stage it looks like I'll have to chop the rubber intake from just behind the 2 offtakes with enough room to make it clamp then find a couple of metal bends to get me into place. Currently doing a quick search on here and ebay for a spare rubber intake as I dont want to hack up my only one. Lol. After doing the entire turbo install. This is probably the biggest head mess I've come across. Doesn't help that I can see the finish line.

Cheers guys. That helps alot. Although my heads been churning away all night and i'm thinking that heavily modifying the stock rubber intake might be the easiest way for me to go.

Hey there. Turbo install is just about finished on my R33 gts-t. Only thing left is reconnect the pipework. Now the Hypergear turbo I am installing has different sized inlet and outlet to the factory turbo. Outlet side is under control. Just want some advice on the inlet to the turbo. I am considering completely fabbing up a Polished stainless section to connect from the AFM to the Turbo as the factory rubber piece wont fit into place. Of course as part of this I would require welding points on to connect BOV return as well as the other line that connects into the rubber piece. Ive been reading that metal intakes could have issues with compressor surge. Is there anything else I should be aware of? I have very limited space as I am also running the factory airbox. I guess the other option is to hack apart the factory rubber intake to make it shorter then try and fit a piece of tube in that which a silicon reducer can connect onto to match upto the turbo To all the people running non factory turbos with diff size inlets. What did you do to get it all reconnected? Would you go for the full metal or adapt the factory rubber (future power level estimated at about 260 odd rwkw give or take) Cheers. Luke

If you drive a factory turbo equipped car or something odvious like a Non turbo Skyline or Suby RX with an aftermarket turbo added on then you are at a very high risk of being caught as they will see "Skyline" they will not see "GTS" hence they will have a look. If you drive something much more unassuming. I.e maybe an ol mx-5 / lancer / etc etc with aftermarket turbo with factory exterior and subtle exhaust. Then you have a much greater chance of getting away with it. Particularly if it is a low mount with stealth install in mind. (unless your silly enough to have an atmo BOV cuz they'll hear it from a block away and start searching). Whilst I don't believe P platers should be allowed drive high-powered vehicles. The concept is really quite simple and not hard to follow. "If you don't give them a reason to pull you over, and then pop the bonnet. Then you will be save Due to this rule. Even a stock skyline is a risk as it is a valid reason to pull you over as most are modified, hence easy target. Luke

I had a very interesting story for a little bit ago. On my way home from my parents place. Recently had been to the drags at Heathcote. Car had Mickey Thompsons on the back, no backseat, no passenger seat + all my actual mods. Blanket laid out in the empty space with my Dog sitting on it. Driving down the back road sitting on 50 in a 60 zone (lol I was in no rush to get anywhere). Unmarked SS drove past and did a U turn. I freaked a bit cuz I could easily think of a dozen things I could potentially have been in strive for. Got pulled over. "How are you going? I pulled you over because I saw the shiney intercooler in the front bar" He had a quick glance at the car and said "been on the track recently have we?". By this stage I was packing it. He got me to pop the bonnet. Had a look went straight to the boost control bleed. Said he could do me for it but wasn't going to. Just told me to get rid of it and that I may get something in the mail. Also mentioned that I should get the cooler engineered for safety reasons in case I was to crash. Proceeded to tell me how he pulls people up in Melbourne all the time that are Wankers and think they know everything and how he gives them fines. Waved me on and wished me a good weekend. Actually wasn't a bad bloke. Could have got me for a fair bit really. I guess because I did nothing stupid he didn't feel the need to make a big deal of everything. I can only wish that he was thinking that because I use a track that I was more responsible. But who really knows what another person is thinking? Luke

And "bigoted hate" of silver gts-t's Are you specifically after a 4 door model? I personally am a much bigger fan of the coupes. There's just something not as sporty about the 4 doors. I would have got a 34 coupe but at the time budget didn't allow. If you have the choice I would opt for the Manual over the Auto for resell and enjoyment reasons. Each to their own however

Which One To Choose From? Is It Worth Just Keeping The Rb20?
l_uk3y replied to Freddie's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Go a Gallo 24. You wont regret it Otherwise i'd say go with an RB25 unless budget isn't an issue. -
damn id love to have a go at this. Shame im in Victoria.

Another Ryco person here. Although never really tried much else for comparison

That is the repainted blue. (1st photo in my last post) although the photos make it look lighter then it does in person (close though). Need to sand back the roughness and buff it up so it has a shine. The idea of covering things with rags worry me. Dusty ol things that drop crap everywhere. Dont laugh but i intend on using something like a quick line of Al Foil or something similar as theres no risk of dust contamination. Then shutting the bonnet straight away. Only doing 1 piece at the time straight away. Then reinstalling before taking off the next bit. (just for those few more sensitive areas. Buff wheels and compounds arrived today. So peace out for the weekend everybody as I'm off to start a marathon of a weekend. Luke

On the positive regarding police attention. You wont have to worry about mods on something like that so defect risk is negligable. So as long as you cable tie to your right foot so it cant drop very far on the pedal. You should be pretty safe. The funny thing to me Lol at the $25 transfer fee

Hopefully not a repost. Mental skyline speeding on a jap freeway. (suppos 365km/h) Looks fairly accurate by watching other vehicles disapearing.

The 11 was actually from the right lane. I hate to say it buddy, but, You were in the left lane. PS. The wheels dont suit at all and I say bring back the wing (I like a good bitta wing ) Oh maybe that was you racing down that large hill with the bloke on the side of the road with the stopwatch

I accidentally got a couple of drops of the stuff on my new leather gear boot. instantly took the color out of it. Now on the blue leather there is a couple of white spots that I'm stuck with. Not looking forward to the comments that passengers may come up with I wont be using it again. Slightly Damp cloth FTW

Buy a good pair of shoes and start jogging.

Probably one of those guys that upgrades to a 1000kw atw engine package but forgets to upgrade the brakes and suspension.

Well. progress has been going a bit slower then expected due to my lack of control on my spending I've completely bitten the bullet and am polishing everything I had planned myself. Progress is at a stand still whilst I wait for my delivery of buffs and compounds. Got all the Silicon joiners I need now. I'm saving the cam covers and plenum until last so I have a bit more experience to get it all done quicker due to leaving engine insides exposed. Also as a shock move I got some harnesses. (hence no money lmao). P.S before the comments start. I have no intention of actually using them on the standard seats. Once the turbo install and re tune is complete seats are next on the agenda. (GTR seats in mind ATM) Whilst polishing I will be making up the new intake piping for turbo inlet and outlets out of 316 stainless which will also be getting polished. Hopefully that should get me over the line on what is by far the biggest DIY job I've ever attempted let alone will actually finish. Getting very toe'y to have the car back on the road though. Driving me insane. Although its just as fun working on it in the garage as it is driving it. Some new photos. - Some of the parts im working on painted parts still need sanding the clearcoat and buffing up metal parts are awaiting new buffs and compounds. - Interior Photos (camera makes it look brighter then it actually is ) - Engine Bay lots of work still to go - Lastly. Few of the fluids i've used in the car during the install/cleanup

With no rear seat I could hear my factory fuel pump whizzing away. Completely silent from cabin with the seat in though. My Nismo pump was a fair bit louder when I first installed it but it became fairly silent even with the rear seat out after 1 tank of fuel.

God. I wonder how many $$$ worth sitting there in that mess. The owner must be devastated. In saying that. I could only dream of having a shed full of broken ferraris. Luke

You Know You Drive A Skyline When .. ... .
l_uk3y replied to SAGTS-4's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
When all your traffic offense tickets were done in all your previous cars and since owning your Skyline for a few years haven't got anything since. Gone are the days of attempting to prove any points. Just get to sit back and watch everyone else trying to show what they have.
