no you dont champs... -
YES... THE GRAND PRIX CIRCUIT!!! We are pretty stoked to be able to bring this date to you guys. Those that have driven this track will agree that it is without question the best permanent race track in the country Those in the know also know that this track will 100% be closed at the end of this year and this could seriously be one of the last chances you will ever get to drive this circuit. * $250 per driver * Includes qualified driver trainers * Official timing * strictly 4 groups of 15 cars running 15 minute session There is really only five weeks till these event and we dont want to wait till the last minute to get numbers sorted. I also don't think that it will take too long to book this event out given that dates on the GP circuit are so hard to access. So if you want to experience driving this amazing and rewarding Grand Prix circuit... register for this event now and don't miss out! TO REGISTER... Yes, Lou had a moment in his 34 but we managed to get him back on the road after spending most of the afternoon under the car for him as he didnt have any real mechanical aptitude. After all the mucking around and we rebuilt his intercooler and front end with race tape and had him driving home, we got a call from him saying that he had blown another tyre on the way home and he didnt have a spare. Given that a towy wanted $600 to come pic him up... Anthony one of Autosports regulars pulled over and lent him one of his semi's to get him home. Poor Lou couldnt turn a trick! Hopefully we will see Lou at the next Autosports event at Wakefield Park on 9th May -
That is some quality camera work there... absolute top shelf!

I seriously thought different of you lotus guys... its pretty poor form to come out and be apart of something and then wipe your arse with it and bag it. Thats real poor form in my opinion. And to bag it like you have just shows what sort of stuck up yuppies you really are. Considering that there is very little on your cars that is infact OEM or from a performance package even associated with the OEM range i recon you should take your little yellow nugget and go and run it in ASSA open class and see how you fair with Hossack's Audi and the mega power Barnes pontiac etc. Regardless what number plate or what class you have a log book for, the only thing that the Lotus's with the blower VTEC combo that you had running there should be classed under is Sports Sedan. Regardless... man up and walk away if you are not into it, dont bag it behind a keyboard you poof! Not just the bigger dollar cars but anyone who has a passion about driving anything performance... i am sure that they would like to see any car that is considered fast out there. -

noise is measured at 30m from side of the track... -
Hey Everyone... Do you want to check out the new Marulan Driver Training Centre? AUTOsports Australia would like to invite you to come and check the place out for yourself. Come down and have a drive and see how challenging this gem of a little track is and how tricky it will be to master. FIRSTLY… REMEMBER, THIS ISNT A RACETRACK, IT’S A DRIVER TRAINING FACILITY. THERE IS NO OFFICIAL TIMING, THERE IS NO SPEED DEMON REWARDS When? Sunday 5th April Where? Prairie Oak Road Marulan NSW How Much? $50.00 (Yes you are correct, that says only $50.00) What do I Need? Helmet (you can also hire one) What time does it start? 9.00am What time does it finish? 4.00pm Can passangers ride? Yes for an additional $20.00 (Time to scare the wife hehe) Do you need to purchase a special licence? No, there are no other charges whatsoever AUTOsports Australia is passionate about introducing new people into motorsports scene. This is a great (and cheap) way to have a look at not just a new driving training centre but a technical and well thought out “drivers” facility. Anyway… the whole idea of this event is for you to come and check it out for yourself and learn for yourself. Unlike a few others I could have claimed to have infact be one of the first to drive around this new track as I did over eighteen months ago and now having seen these facilities come out of the ground and to life and if you consider yourself to be even half-a-driver, I know you will get to love the challenge of this gem of a little track. So what is the place like you ask? It is both tight and flowing series of equally left and right hand turns, it’s slightly undulating and it isn’t as wide as a normal racetrack though more than wide enough to facilitate its intended use. It will reward superior driver skill and precision yet forgiving and thought out to accommodate run of if need be. I would say that most cars wouldn’t get out of third gear even up the main straight. Like similar facilities in the country, Haunted Hills, Fairburn Park and others… this technical and rewarding track will test your nerve and skill. So if you are a seasoned trackday warrior or someone completely new to the trackday scene and want to have a look, you will get a lot out of this place. So in a few weeks time (Sunday 5th April) instead of sitting on the lounge, jump in either your stock as a rock road car or highly modified road registered track weapons cruise down the Hume Hwy about an hour from the Cross-roads at Liverpool and come check this place out for yourself! The format of the day is going to be; Sign on between 8.00am and 8.45am at the administration office Drivers briefing at 9.00am sharp. First group is on the track at 9.15am All cars marshal up to the starting area 5 cars will be allowed on the circuit at a time, evenly spaced out Each session will include an out-lap, 4 full laps and a cool down and in-lap Track closes at 4.00pm Lap times are around 45 to 50 seconds a lap. With 4 laps and an out-lap… each session will be shorter than the normal 15 minutes but keeping it rolling out all day will see you get plenty of time on the track as well as time to socialize with other rev-heads while you wait to head back out. There is an impressive canteen available as well as ample shelter for those spectators wanting to get out of the weather. Another great thing is that over 98% of the track can be seen from the general viewing area. Some of the other information that you need for the day is as follows; There is a 90db noise limit. This is strictly enforced… if your car is over 90db you will not be permitted on the track. Management check and measure the noise of all cars and there is no waiver. All Drivers and Passangers must have an approved helmet as well as long sleeve shirt, long pants and enclosed shoes. All loose items must be removed from your car. Cars with leaking fluids will not be allowed on the track under any circumstances. It is up to you to make sure that you car is in sound mechanical condition. Some others have suggested that there is an 80kph speed limit, this is not the case. AIM and Performance boxes are permitted. Facilities management will be strictly monitoring the standard of driving at all times. Rules will be explained at the drivers briefing and anyone acting outside those stipulated rules will be asked to leave the premises immediately. How do you get there? Check out this link > http://www.mdtc.com.au/directions/index.html I encourage you to come down and have a look for yourself and I am thankful to Garry & Natalie Willmington the Proprietors of the Marulan Driver Training Centre for the opportunity to bring this event to AUTOsports Australia patrons. Superlap 2009 Gets A Green Light!
Peddler replied to Superlap Australia's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Speaking from my experiences and yes I know Autosports trackdays and events are very different to this "Superlap" style time-attack format. I think that the hardest thing to consider when even contemplating any sort of limitation on car/class or driver is the simple fact that our local and extremely isolated market doesn’t have the luxury to ostracize anyone. Turning it into a “Jap” manufacturer only event would never work in my opinion; Australian motorsport even at a grass-roots level has a lot more going for it than the Jap scene. I also have to say that I thought it was awesome to see the Landcruiser ripping it up last year! I think more focus should go on making sure that there are not any muppets like the rotor last year that did the victory-lap smoke show Like someone said, I am sure anyone with a half decent or fast car would want to compete with other fast and even faster then them to then strive to get on top of them. Australia needs an event like this as a measuring stick for the industry and complete tuning scene and I think in time it will develop a much bigger audience on a National level and I wish Ian all the best and getting it happening. -
**ORAN PARK GP CIRCUIT** Well it’s been a long time coming but with a lot of time and effort behind the scenes we have been able to secure what we believe is going to be a popular trackday event on the inspiring Oran Park GP Circuit. Monday 8th June 2009. **Public Holiday/June long weekend** Now everyone knows that the closure of Oran Park is immanent. Speculation and rumor is never ending about actual when nevertheless this "could" be one of your last opportunities to infact drive on the GP Circuit. Autosports Australia is proud to be bringing this opportunity to the grass-roots motorsport fraternity. Many people describe the GP Circuit as "the best permanent racetrack in the country" and contrary to what a lot of people. Some say that to put together a fast lap around the GP Circuit is the ultimate and not achievable without skill and precision. Here is a lap of Oran Park GP with Autosports own driver trainer John Boston at the 2008 Superlap event driving another Autosports patron’s Elias’s highly modified Honda S2000. Now even though this event is some months away, I should remind you that our Eastern Creek event was booked out within 3 weeks of announcement. One would consider this event to be the same. Please don’t leave your booking till a few weeks out in hope that there is a position for you. Places are strictly limited and we will not be extending. This event will have official timing (will be up on Natsoft) This event will have “Qualified” Driver Trainers for you at no extra charge $275.00 per Driver 5 Groups running 15 minute sessions Must have current drivers license, long sleeve shirt, long pants and closed in shoes. Want more info, check out www.autosports.com.au OR give me a buzz on 0408255005 TO REGISTER, CLICK http://events.autosports.com.au/events/view/18
