  1. Howdy all... AUTOSports next Wakefield day is only a few weeks away. Same deal as per usual, $160 per driver with John Boston and Paul Kemal on hand to offer driver training. Full timing provided. If SAU members want to get your own group together... just let me know. You just need to get a minimum of 11 cars or maximum of 13 cars. If someone wants to take control of it from this end and help put the group together, let me know and i will help out where possible. For those who want to register for the event CLICKY-} http://www.autosports.com.au/events/view/9 If anyone needs any further information, give me a ring on 0408255005
  2. The bottom line is, that there has NEVER been division or a handicap system based on driver ability. "It goes against every funamental aspect of what motorsport has been developed on" Encouraging inexperienced drivers to pilot big power and inevitably not set up correctly cars above and outside there capabilities on a racetrack is a recipe for disaster The entire emphasis on motor-racing isnt just about the driver or just about the car. Its a combination to see what talent the driver has to get the best out of the machinery that he is driving. Here is another one for you; You are saying that drivers who are either paid to drive or paid for driver training are not allowed to run in both classes. Where does that sit Paul Kemal who i know a few workshops are asking if he can drive there cars for these style events... yes he races in a national class of motorsport (Aussie Racing Cars) and that does have sponsorship that supports the cars but he isnt paid anything to drive. This being the case, there shouldnt be any limitations for him to drive in either class?
  3. maybe mods could move this to the correct section? thanks Chris

  5. I can not believe what I am reading!!! What difference should it make if a driver has more experience? Why is it different if Bozzy has been in the game for more than the average punter who might want to enter this event in any class? Seriously... are they going to stop my kid for playing under 6's soccer because he is better than the other kids? I don’t think so and if they did, there is not a court in the country that wouldn’t call that blatant discrimination! It makes no sense whatsoever. Motorsport is not just about the cars and to motorsport purists; it’s really about how well they are driven. You can not say to someone "you can’t play you're to good" Never before in my life have I seen limitations on driver’s ability; this will be talked about for a long time I can tell you now. I have been following this and looking at the webpage and it seems that the rules are being changed to suit a few people. That’s just going to totally loose the credibility this event deserves in my opinion. If people are worried about competing against someone with experience, they shouldn’t be driving there car on a racetrack! On the other hand if you are serious about your ability as a driver on a racetrack, having a measuring stick to aim for by looking at those with more experience would be a great way to look at it. Rant over... I feel better now.
  6. Hey Russ... long time no see champs! Great read about your recent effort in Japan and i have to say the new car sounds exciting to say the least. Look forward to seeing you out there again soon. PS; I want an invite to the next roast dinner up in the van at Waky!!!
  7. I dont want to get into a slanging match about it but if you guys think that you can put a closed day on at a Sydney track for less... please let me know! For the record... After track hire, insurances (which we take on our own), ambulance and staff as well as few promo goodies to throw around, Autosports made a grand total profit of around $200 after that day and infact that was the first time we infact made a profit, normally we loose money and given that we personally are running these events becuase we love to, that ment that the money we were short (at past events) came out of my own pocket. Gota remeber we also have the best driver trainers in the country there with us as well. Insurance is the big killer as most would understand but saying that quote "certainlysounds overpriced" is an uneducated and stupid comment that i am happy to debate when and where you want! If you think Wakefield is expensive... you try and do an event at Oran Park or Eastern Creek, this next event that we are doing at Eastern Creek is costing over $10,000 JUST FOR THE TRACK HIRE, not including insurances or anything. The main reason why we dont have "official" timing is becuase of the fact that poeple want passangers... this has been debated many times and its simply what poeple want. Further, most poeple who are serious about their motorsport and can infact drive have there own timing with them to use. Again... you tell me how you can do it cheaper and i will pay you $100k a year to come and run a National Calander for eveyone one else that spends every spare minute during and after business hours busting there arses trying to put these days on AT COST for you guys and becuase we love doing it... not for profit
  8. Hey Guys & Girls, Marty from Autosports here... Just wanted to drop in and say a big thanks for the support you guys showed with the numbers of poeple that turned up on Friday. The day was an absolute sucess and we simply love putting them on. In saying that... there is now a track day confirmed for Eastern Creek for Sat 7th April. It would be good to see some of you guys and girls there having a blast with us. Just so you guys know... we operate these days at absolute cost simply becuase we love getting crazy on the track. We dont make a cent out of it like other places who hold track days. PS: I am in the middle of a build on a Datto 1200 Coupe with a CA18 in it and i am looking for a few GTR brake parts for my drivetrain... if anyone has anything that they think might be of benefit, please let me know Cheers, Marty www.autosports.com.au
