The Skyline and HP...... debate and comment (PLEASE NO MUD SLINGING)
IMACUL8 replied to IMACUL8's topic in Western Australia
Yes Steve agreed.... But surely Steve you as a man in the industry must see people come in and tell you what they want and how they what to do it and wonder what the fark they are doing..... I made the mistake of buying a safc + ecb. They did increase the cars power - but a more sensiable and expandable soluton would have been to keep saving foe another $500 and bought an full wolf ecu of you for 2000 fitted and tuned. Car would go better, have room to expand mods and giving me more options (like runninf rotation idle, etc) Daniel -

Cam - i think the turbo is what MOST PEOPLE touch last. Out of all the R33 out there I bet less than 5% have modified/or complete aftermarket turbos. Most would be stock. What I'm saying( and I may not be right, its just a opinion)... Is i would buy the Garret TURBO first (after full exhaust of course), and not waste my time on safc, ecbs, massive front mounts, etc. I would do zorst and turbo first then ecu. With those mods and putting a little boost and putting a cheap fuel regulator on (i think they can be had for < $150) you would be into the 12's easy (even on stock ecu) - if thats what you wanted, and some suspension parts and you also have a great handler as well as a straight line monster. I think the biggest mistake is people are trying to overcomplicate things. So my mod path would be... 1. full xzorts 2. garret turbo 3. fuel regulator (cheap way of leaning out fuel) Daniel -

hahahahah steve ..... GTiR are awesome cars, love these pulsars on steriods. Is the gearbox in them the limiting factor as well. Do they run the same sr20 motor as the s13/14/15. Dont they have a quad throttle body setup? And Steve, some of prefer the lumpy sound of the water cooled VW's over the drony/hollow princes..... ;-> Daniel -

Exactly DCIEVE...... consistancy.... the R33 all with similar mods seem to be over over the shop with times.... I would love to see quicker times out of R33 (my favorite line), hense the reason of the thread.... Does anyone know that the stock turbo can flow on the r33 (eg what is its CFM - Cubic Feet per Minute of flow)...... Daniel -

You cant compare Denver to stardard driver.. he uses his car for all sorts of special events and the like. that kind of torchure would deem any gearbox useless.. hahaha Im not saying the gearbox is bulletproof, far from it its the cars biggest weak spot.. but clutch is fine, no different to skyline, i cooked two on the skyline, and im still on my stardard one with my rex.... hahahha... Rob I really dont want to get into want is quicker and what is better.. because you wont like my answer. If you want me to compare... well in terms of bolt on mods and performance for return... sorry pal rex wins hands down. with : new turbo 1200 (bolt on) new ecu 1000 (i picked up a second hand LINK with hand controller for that much) turbo back exhaust 1500 whiteline suspension gear 500 TOTAL = $4200 You have a car that will run 12.7 to 12.9 consistantly at the plex, and will out handle and monover a gtst any day of the week. My r33 had twice that spent on it and wasnt even close in handling or straight line speed. Sorry Rob just my observation. Daniel -

Summoner... Thats what I'm after some outside the norm thinking..... Thats the point im trying to make, everyone seems to be trying foe bulk hp, but the cars are not really producing the goods under these circumstances. Daniel -

Cam.. yeah suspension would be the first are that comes to mind... surely tires would make a big difference when it comes to the r33 traction problem. what are the gear ratios in a r33? Would there be any gains to be had here.... Daniel -
Guys, and in no way am I having a dig.. its just a observation I dont understand your infatuation with dyno hp figures... in the sceme of things it really means fark all when comparing to other peoples figures. I personally would consider any car running 12's or below to be a quick street car. So unless your building a dyno queen, i would start looking at other areas to increase the cars OVERALL PERFORMANCE, such as suspension, tires, etc..... Im seeing guys with 300+ hp and still not cracking into the 12's. Why would this be? This was the main reason I sold my car, because after all the fancy Apexi, HKS, etc stuff I put on there I still wasnt that impressed..... Please guys, I am not bagging skylines (I still have a soft spot for them), I am just trying to determine why people keep making bulk engine mods for hp and the car is still not that quick. Should we be moving our attention away from the motor and into other areas...... Please comment guys, I would like some serious comments and debate... NO mud sligging or bagging..... Daniel
-
Sorry... made new thread for comment Daniel
-
Soulja WTF is your point. I so are you saying that skylines are slow, or that these guys are shit drivers....... i dont understand. What shits me is retards who never race their car but have the ordacity to comment and belittle other peoples efforts. Daniel
-
angel... on my R33 with cat back HKS, stock turbo and stock cooler... running 12psi Before SAFC - 181rwhp After SAFC - 221rwhp ** and after leaving the workshop fried my clutch with 5 minutes. Danel

Cam Make sure you buy the little filter sock for your new pump, as they dont come with the pump. Daniel
-
Cam bracket needs a little jigging.... i dont think any new holes are required (I didnt need any new holes). Daniel
-
no 910 does not fit into standard mount.... you need to rweak it a little, its not hard at all. Daniel
-
Yes, coventry's morley.... I think the 910 is cheaper because of its shear size and age. They are bloody big and have been around for many years (just an opinion not a conclusive answer). Dan I have also heard that stock injectors start maxing out around the 300hp mark, so 370 sounds a little excessive. Daniel
-
Dan As Brett said the bosch pumps are sweet. I had the 910 in my R33 and will be putting one in my WRX, only thing Dan is they are loud. So maybe you should look at a Walbro pump, they are quieter. Daniel

Psiker read previous its all good....... No hard feelings. Daniel
