i think your radiator will need to be flushed and "rodded" (they will pull the tanks off and push metal rods through the core to push out any blockages in the core).

i think this is it: http://sixtyminutes.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=661236

Bike shops are good also checkout some motorsport stores. I bought mine from GMP racing in oakleigh. Cost $160 for a full faced helmet in plain black. Open faced helmets start at around $90. So I would say those are the minimum prices you would pay for an australian standards helmet. Make sure when you are trying on the helmets, wear them for a few minutes just so you can get used to the weight of the helmet. Some of the cheaper ones can be quite heavy.

you are correct about it being loud and droney without the resonator. however it is not illegal to remove the resonator as it is not an emissions item. the only thing that may be illegal is if you remove the resonator which results in the exhaust dB reading going above 89dB which would be an epa violation. removing the catalytic convertors would be illegal though. screamer pipes refer to a wastegate that vents direct to the atmosphere on a turbo car.

i read somewhere that they are using both Rick and Neal Bates as the stig.

most probably in for this one.

Vids Of Your Cars At Motorsport Events
Sandeep replied to super_s13's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Have some vids from DECA 300zx vs. 33 GTR 300zx vs. startlet turbo at NDSOC/FPV deca. -
you have good taste lol mine is nothing special though as i haven't spent any money on the exterior, all suspension, brakes etc but paint and bodywork is average. but i will invite some other zeds along for the drive.

black smoke indicates incomplete combustion/rich mix. generally the car will run abit richer on cold start ups, what is your fuel economy like (L/100km)? and how much black smoke are we talking about and is it mainly caused when you hit boost? i would be checking coolant temperature sender, spark plugs, fuel pressure regulator, vac leaks and boost leaks etc. run your car on consult or datascan if you can, just to make sure everything is running good.
-
I will be there if i don't have to work.

also inspect the fuel filler neck. during compliance they put in a new fuel filler insert to accomodate the australian fuel nozzles, sometimes they don't seal it properly and you will get fuel leaking when you turn left. mine used to do this when i first got it. pulled out the insert, cleaned up all the old sealant and put some Selley's "knead it" around the insert and pressed it back in. hasn't leaked since.

so the bolt head snapped off leaving part of the bolt stuck in the threads? you can try a thing called an "easy out", i think you can get them from bunnings. you drill a small hole into the remaining part of the bolt, then screw in the "easy out" and that will grab onto the broken bolt and might undo it. http://crustyquinns.com/tech/easyout.html

the smell you are getting out of the exhaust may indicate stuffed cats. both of my cats were blocked when i got my car and it gave off a really bad smell out of the exhaust and were blocking the exhaust flow. changed the cats, smell went away and got a small increase in fuel economy. i'd also be inspecting all your fuel lines and also the fuel filler neck (they change the insert during compliance and sometimes it leaks). also check your o2 sensor is working correctly, clean your coolant temp sensor and check for any error codes using consult or datascan.

you can try the resonator and if that doesn't work then you will need to try a small oval body muffler inline with your rear muffler. the resonator should take care of the drone though.

I am also a p-plater but lucky for me I don't have the no engine mods rule. But if I were in your situation, I would be spending my money on brakes, suspension and tyres. You will actually feel the difference in the way the car drives ie carry more speed into and out of corners (i am talking about track racing here), better stopping power so you can brake later into turns, better grip all round.

okay they say that they got a car from the US and kept it dead stock... so did they remove the 250km/h limiter from the USDM gtr? i have no idea about nurburgring but how much of a difference would the 250km/h limiter make compared to the 300km/h unlimited GTR? also they say that nissan were using semi slicks, what R comps were available at the time when nissan set the 7:29? (serious question, not being sarcastic, but i was thinking that they just used re070's or dunlops as 20 inch r comps were rare...) anyway it'll be interesting to see nissan's reply to this.

was a good day, thanks for running it Kev

Na Power Results - All N/a Engines
Sandeep replied to beersandwich's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Z32 300ZX VG30DE 134.1 on RE Customs dyno mods: Apexi pod, 2.5inch exhaust: front pipes, metalcats and catback. still running stock headers, harmonic balancer, flywheel and running stock tune. future mods: extractors and ecu remap. hoping for 150rwkw. haven't decided if i am going to go to lightweight flywheel and harmonic balancer yet. -
when i did mine i soaked the o2's in INOX every night for a week before i pulled them out. i then got a hammer and a breaker bar and smashed the tops off the o2 sensors and used a 22mm open ended spanner to take out the base. on another zed we tried this and it still didn't work (couldn't get the base to crack) so we turned on the car and let the exhaust get warmish (you don't want it super hot because you'll just burn yourself) and then it came out pretty easy since everything had expanded abit when it warmed up.

so if you're a newb to circuit racing like me (only done 3 deca events so far but have no circuit experience) should I put myself in the driver training group? i am just worried that I will get swamped by all the faster cars and I don't want to get in anyone's way on the track... but i still want to do the whole event... any recommendations? -
unfortunately a few people dropped out and we no longer have enough cars to run this event, we will be running another one later in the year so I will post up a new thread when we figure out a date. admin's can lock/move this thread if needed

i'd say it is due to your fuel maps. when you're in neutral and there's no load on your engine you'll be in a different part of the fuel map compared to when you're on boost, at 6000rpm, under load at WOT you'll be using alot more fuel which is why you end up with black smoke coming out of your exhaust (incomplete combustion results in Carbon).

any more takers? should be a good day, some decent power TT zeds coming as well as a few NA's, a few skylines and some other cars are also coming.
