Drag Racing Wheel & Tyre Combo Questions
IanH replied to 2rismo's topic in General Automotive Discussion
275/45-15 or 275/50-15 would fit but 275/60 is too much side wall Use this to figure it out by putting in standard size and your new size. It'll tell you if the ne one will fit http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html -
Cheers for the advice, I've never done anything like that before so didn't know about lowering the tyre pressure etc. I'll have a look to see if theres any other advice for a newbie !

I broke my Drag Strip cherry today at Santa Pod in the UK :headbang: Started off at 14.6 @ 105mph (170kph) and did a best time of 14.08 @ 99mph (missed 4th gear) with a best overall at 14.1 @ 106mph Heres the slip times It felt like I was spinning the wheels until 60ft too! My reaction times are crap and I was constantly wheel spinning though out 1st gear. I'm going back soon to try some 2nd gear starts to avoid traction problems. I'm running around 220rwkw and didn't alter my car from how it is on the road (tyre pressure, boost etc untouched) and the temp was about 3'c all day (bloody cold)

If you got to 4 channel monitor and select AFM Voltage, Knock, Inj Duty and anything else (mines water temp) and select Peak hold (press right) then take it for a blast until the light flicks on. Pull over and check the Peak figures to see if they're higher than - AFM - 5.0V (5000 mV) Inj Duty - 95% Knock - over 60 which ever ones are above those limit's is the problem. If you increased boost it could be all 3 if your unlucky
-
If you have the Hand Commander you can see which item (AFM/Knock/Inj Duty) is causing the light to come on (the number of flashes tells you which item and you can check the peak numbers in Monitor).

HELP with Blitz sbc id boost control
IanH replied to Hiroshima Screamer's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
http://www.r34gtt.net/r34manuals.html about 1/2 way down. Hope that helps -
Hiya Dan - I've got som e on my website but it was after some minor work (310bhp), hope they help a bit
-
Sorry, bad choice of words, there's just one tank, just got 15L left which is alot!
-
The GTT's reserve tank must be huge then, I can only get 48-50L when the light comes on which means a 15L reserve!!!
-
I'm using a z32 AFM with a Power Intake on a GTT and I ordered the GTT intake. Sounds and looks great!
-
As far as I know it's fine becuase your trying to keep the overall circumfrence the same but the rear is wider so it has to have a smaller sidewall. Click here for a tyre calculator to help you see what happens when you put the same profile on both front and rears. Just type in your front and rear tyre sizes and see the difference.
-
That sounds good to me as well! If I had 230rwkw + 62= 292rwkw*1.34 = 390bhp which is almost what I'm running (according to a Rollin Road dyno (385bhp) now 230rwkw is more like the figure I was hoping for :headbang: eriktufa - YHM
-
This is the sort of thing I'm on about. My car is producing over 100bhp more than standard (276 Vs 385) but a GTS-t has the same amount from only minor mods. There has GOT to be something going wrong in the way I'm doing the conversion. There is NO WAY a a GTS-t can produce over 100bhp extra with those mods so that means my rwkw figure MUST be too low! Can anyone make any sense of this as it's doin my head in!
-
Opps, I meant 190rwkw not hp anyway, Heres the list - Engine Trust TD05-18g Turbo HKS S-Type FMIC Blitz SBC-iD @ 1.2bar (17.5psi) Nismo 480cc injectors Nismo Fuel pump Tomei 1.4mm Headgasket NGK Iridium Plugs Apexi PowerFC & H/C HKS Downpipe HKS De-cat Blitz Nur spec Exhaust z32 AFM Trust 13 Row Oil Cooler Stock Air Box but with a Nismo S-Tune filter in (Ive bought an Apexi PowerIntake filter which arrive next week) Other R33GTR Brembo Front Calipers and discs with Ferrodo DS2500 pads R34GTR Clutch Lots of carbon fibre bits HKS SSQV BOV Cusco Catch Tank R34GTR Rims Top Secret copy Front bar & Bonnet Tomei Kevlar Timing belt With all that I'm making a little short of what I expected (which was 200rwkw) but the induction kit should help that out. It just seems odd that people are making a lot higher rwkw figures but with less engine work being done, which was why I wanted my maths checking!
-
Well, I've had her dyno'd in her current state and got 253rwhp, which works out to 190rwkw (not far off the 200 I'd guessed) but again this seems low when other people mention their 230-250rwkw figures for GTS-t's in the wastegate thread. I've had a lot of work done on the engine (new turbo, FMIC, bigger injectors pumps, Boost to 17.5psi, clutch etc) and wonder what other GTT owners are getting for theirs? Cheers.......................................................................... .....IanH

If the key looks like this then there is no immobilizer/security chip etc and you can get a blank normal key cut which will operate the central locking and the ignition etc.
-
I've got the Apexi too with the same AFM/PFC, sounds great. I wanted the super suction kit (hard pipe from AFM to turbo to prevent plastic pipe being sucked closed) but it was really expensive .

Urgent: Picture of R34 injector
IanH replied to 666DAN's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hiya Dan - have my injectors got a different number or have they been broke in transit etc? -
Hiya all, after reading the wastegate size thread I noticed that some of the rwkw figures seemed very high when compared to mine (we use bhp in the UK so I'm not too sure of the conversion). This is how I think my conversion works I have 400bhp at the flywheel, which is 300kw at the fly, which is 200rwkw Does that rwkw figure seem low? Here's my maths, 400bhp/1.33=300kw and rwkw is 2/3 of fly kw so =200kw Anyone got any idea? Going from the numbers SydneyKid used in the wastegate thread I should have around 250rwkw? Cheers for your help......................................................IanH

I had the same thing on my GTT. It turns out that the oil I was using (0W-40) was getting too thin at high temps and leaking past the seals in the turbo. A change to 15W-50 Silkolene Pro-R race oil sorted this out and my pipes have been clean since.

Apexi Power FC Commander Instruction Manual
IanH replied to Muz's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I have a a PFC in my GTT and used the RX-7 manual as a basic guide on how to use the monitor, Etc and a few settings selections but if you want to alter the settings section fully (ie Mapping) then there's no english guide for the GTT. I haven't found it that difficult to use as most of the RX7 version is either identical or similar enough to understand what each function does. Hope that helps, although PM if you need any help............................IanH
