And noobs are supposed to know all this? I think not. The average noob will come along proud as punch of his new line and ask how to mod it. He or she doesnt generally ask the compression rate of the valve spring on the exhaust side of no# 3 cylinder on an rb25.

Its real secret squirrel stuff eug. The only way i found out was andy (bunta) saw it on a billboard near gatton and he Anna and Shane went yesterday. I looked shane up this morning and he said it was on again today so we meandered out for a looksee. Glad we did.
-
And what a wonderful tool the search function is. I typed in...."modding an rb25" and look what i came up with http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...modding+an+rb25 Whoretown Central coast thread sictown etc. etc. What an amazingly wonderful way of introducing new people to the forum. Why didnt i think of it.
-
Yeah, the boring stuff. Like asking questions about skylines etc. How dare they!
-
And then the bastards key you car.
-
Shall we go to whoretown and define "garbage"

If someone comes to your door and asks, May I use your bathroom? Do you A. say find it yourself. Or B. say of course you can. Its the first door on the left down the hall. It is simply a way of breaking the ice with a potential new member and making them feel at home.

Car. R33gtst Turbo. stock date. 17/3/07 time. 8.17 Track. Willowbank Output. 173 rwkw temp. 23 degrees track temp. 34 degrees humidity. 72% Reaction time. 0.621 60 ft. 2.06 330 ft. 5.834 660 ft. 8.955 1000 ft. 11.617 et. 13.869 mph99.25 Comments. My best run of the night but my mph was down by about 3mph. Maybe i backed off a bit early. I couldnt break the 14 second barrier due to bogging at the line so i upped the launch revs to about 4800 and it stuck. The track did seem sticky as, Hope it stays that way

Its really quite simple anna. do you want new users or not. What you whine about having to put up with is precisely what i am telling you noobs shouldnt have to put up with. As for a donation. Well. if someone were to ask me instead of trying to get in my face with it i would be only too willing to oblige. I am not that short sighted that i dont understand the cost of running these forums. But tell me, Is anybody out of pocket as a result of this forum, and, If they are then they should speak up and say so, I am sure i am not the only one willing to contribute to the running costs of our board. As for becoming a mod. Do you think that would work, after all i have been quite open about my attitude to noobs and my willingness to let them have their say. Theres an old saying anna. You will catch more flys with honey than with vinegar. Noobs learn soon enough the lay of the forum simply by being allowed free rein to get to know how it works. Caning them for asking an old question will not encourage them to stay around and and get to know how it really does work. As for wasted bandwidth, I can think of sections of this forum that are a waste of life. Can them, not the potential long term contributor in the form of the noob coming on board and wanting to share his smiles with fellow liners. The one you can may well be the one who could have contributed plenty in the long term but we end up losing them by shortsighted and impatient moderating. Sure if a noob persists then by all means take steps to remedy the situ but telling them to go search is not in any way conducive to making them feel welcome or wanting to stay in it for the long road.
-
No probs anna. Noobs wont even have to register. Just "search" and be on your way. Nothing to see here. You just dont get it. The secret to keeping new people is to make them feel welcome. You wont do that by not intercoursing with them. "search" doesnt cut it in any way shape or form. If the thread isnt to your liking there is a simple answer. Dont read it and, certainly dont respond by saying "search" Believe me their isnt a bigger turnoff in the whole forum scene than that one word.

Picked up shanef this morning and we wandered out to gatton to watch the second day of the street sprints. A very well attended and well organised event by all accounts. what it really bought home to me tho was just how effective a weapon the gtr really is. The colour printed programme they handed out boldly boasted the best ever time for this circuit as 39 seconds. We were fortunate to witness a 32 gtr smash the shit out of that mark with a blistering 36 second lap time. Think about that. 3 full seconds on a mid 30 second track. That isnt a beating, That is an absolute and total mauling. And what a car it is. the straightest cleanest 32 i have ever seen with the most detailed engine bay and mods you could wish for. Is it any wonder the rear wheelers hate them so much. Even the evos and lancers were days away from the times the gtr was posting. The gtr deserves all the kudos and respect that those in the know bestow upon it and then some. GTR FTW

1 time or 11ty aquillion, Who are they hurting. Noobs want to feel part of the scene but nothing will turn them away faster than being told...GO SEARCH. You may as well come straight out and just tell them to f**k orf. Who are they hurting by asking repeat questions. As i have said before and you concur, There is no question re a skyline that hasnt been asked on these boards. So, Lets just put a sticky on every sub forum right across the board. !DONT ASK....JUST SEARCH. Lets see how long the forum lasts then. Is this forum a commercial; venture, If its driven by profit then come right out and say so and we will all stop using valuable bandwidth. Once again it will soon disappear along with the profit. If you want it to continue to grow then encourage the noobs to ask their questions. It may seem old hat to you but to them its an exciting new world of skylines and related matters. Be happy for them, Be happy that you as an old schooler can answer their questions and make them feel wanted here. As for devils advocate and the treatment he recieved on his thread, i think that was an outrage. Here is a guy trying to inject some new enthusiasm in to sunday cruising and he gets the rug pulled out from under him. I would be pissed too. Particularly at the response to his query as to who did it and why. I have been on forums basically since the beginning of the net and i have seen them come and go, Those that stay tend to display a far more mod tolerant atitude to new folk than what i have witnessed here.

Backtrack your route and see if you can find the offending section of road spooky. Take some pics and do as toy did. I cant believe they didnt have a wet paint section cordoned off.
-
I have no idea Dino, BUT> I believe the price of 32's is going to go through the floor over the next few months as the new P plate laws start to bite. Could be some good cheap track cars available.
-
WTF!....WOOOOOOOOOT, DO IT DO IT DO IT
-
I am not arguing with you dino. If i wanted an engine I would go that way too, However, If i wanted a car the line owns it for me.
-
ROFL, I remember it well. Traitor.
-
Which was your line dennis?
-
thats a good call Col. The last 30 minutes was like happy hour. Just go round and round as quick as you could and get in about 4 runs in 30 minutes.
-
Wednesdays rock Ben. I think we maybe should try and organise at least one wednesday line night a month. i am definitely up for it.
-
yeah it was busy courtesy of a harley day but once they f**ked off it wasnt too bad. Toward the end of the evening you could get about 4 runs in half an hour if you wanted.

13.38. !!!!KEEEWWWWLLLL Ben. you gotta be happy with that man.
