So what! After seeing what they get up to i reckon I'm one too.
-
Dont really hate them zeb, Just dont have any respect for them. Too many mates spent far too much coin rebuilding the rotten things while I hammerred the crap out of a 350 small block and the other cohort wailed away with his 302 windsor. Sure the clevo could make the fat easy enough but it just wasnt worth it.

Research LS1 crate engines, No turbo required to rip skids. Good hp n/a engines are available straight out o the box.
-
You can buy 4/500 hp crate motors for way less than the op is figuring on spending. Wouldnt mind a buck for every 2 piece clevo crank I saw back in the day. (doddery old man voice)

Yeah I'd like to see pics of the TI Sorry about your dad op but thats how it goes. You did ask for opinions and you got them. From where i sit you chose the worst possible option to achieve your goal. As far as showing people how to drive.... ripping a friggin great skid requires absolutely zero driving skill. Get it to a track or a motor k, or hill climb or such and then impress people with your mad skillz. Matter of fact you will impress the shit out of me if you can cut decent times in a skyline with a woolly mammoth under the bonnet. Under steer much.

Dont know about most of them but number 2 is a winner. The old clevo was famous for making good power but notorious for shitting itself due to a crap oiling system. Hanging it out at a burnout comp is going to see it under more load longer than any drag engine. Even Ford eventually gave up on the useless pos but hey, Daddy has a goss so it will be fine.

Why dont you pick the heaviest lump of cast iron available for 350 somethin cubes. Dirty old cleveland could anchor the queen Mary. Windsor or LS1 would be a far better proposition.
-
I Like the idea, They do have quite a heavy pay load and are a full chassis vehicle so I guess the only question would be Power. Do they have enough.
-
If anybody pays those prices for fronts only they are only after the name. the brakes theselves are not worth it. I know plenty of people have asked for more but how would we know if they actually get the asking price. I just sold a set for 1750 but I believe they were good value given they have top spec pads with at least 90 % left and slotted rotors. And you are correct re amateur drifting, A good handbrake would be enough.

Are they a franchise? If so then try and find head office and contact them.

Careful, You could end up in the wasteland with statements like that. Comparing a 15 minute mountain run to track time is like comparing dame Edna to angelna Jolle. I used to think like that until I actually started doing track. the leap from hill runs to track is as great as the leap from street to hill run. Believe it! I do agree about the pricing, I would not consider paying that money for a standard set of gtr brembos, the 34 version is an even bigger snow job, same brakes with gold paint and they think they're worth an extra grand. I would however pay twice the price of a going set of sumi's, I believe they are at least that much better and if you do the same mods such as good pads and slotted rotors etc they simply murder the sumi's kitted up to the same spec. 500 bucks is about the going rate for a set of 33 gtst front and rear brakes and rotors, Start getting custom dog bones etc to get the rotor size up to that of the bremmbo and you are already getting close to what I consider the going rate for said brembos. I paid 1100 dollars for a full set and considered it a fair price. I wouldnt pay any more unless they had upgraded rotors or pads etc. Stock for stock or upgrade for upgrade they are a better brake than the sumi. How much you value that "better" is up to the individual.
-
They hate stopping and cornering...Dont do it. Even the larger brakes on the 4.8 arent confidence inspiring enough to warrant a huge increase in performance. Go the old school route with a nice header/zorst system and a tune on an aftermarket ecu. A handy but not ridiculous power increase and way better economy.

It aint the northside but just get your butte down to dan at Elite racing developments and you will get the answers you are seeking.
-
Got me stuffed why you and other continually can the brembo conversion ash. fitting larger calipers and rotors to a car weighing 250 kg less is all kinds of win from where I sit. I could get the sumi's to give in no probs even with good pads and fluid but the gtr brembos never showed any sign of fade or soft pedal. I highly recomend it based on my experience.

Bang on Marlin. I am on my 7th patrol and boy am i glad I avoided the shitbox 4 cylinder. Biggest mistake nissan ever made. Fwiw Mark my current patrol is the 4.8 petrol variant. Paid plenty for it when I first bought it but you can pick them up for dirt these days. Initially I couldnt live with the fuel economy. It was shit but some minor mods saw a marked improvement. A good header system with a 2 & 1/4 inch exhaust , and a dyno tune with an after market ecu saw not ony a huge improvement in fuel useage but a nice gain in grunt to boot. Mine is the TI variant so it has all the frilly bits to make it a civilised place to spend your time. Seats are marginal but other than that it has all the fruit. As my work vehicle it works its arse off most days towing my tradey trailer and some heavy loads and when it isnt working it gets its arse thrashed off. Nothing slows it down to any degree including a heavy arsed hire trailer with the skyline on board and economy doesnt vary by as much as I thought it would between towing and non towing. The tiptronic box has never complained in 5 hard years and like all my patrols before this one all you can spend on it is the usual service items and a brake pad change at around 80 k intervals. Highly reccomended.
