  5. yes ok, i forgot about the fuel. but assuming you scored the gear cheap secondhand, chinese turbos no intake filtration etc, dodgy hack togeather plumbing, decent wet nos can had for under $400 second hand yeah? surely a clutch to hold it could be had for 1k ay? and all this only has to hold togeather for a short time... how many kw is needed to get in to 10`s?

  7. assuming you did all the fitting and tuning yourself... run big psi and C16 etc doesnt matter if the car dies after 1 pass etc. is it possible? (and, yes much humour)
  8. xr6t boys reckon it cant be done, i say it can! assuming you dont care at all about longevity, how could you get a gtr into the 10`s for less than 5k? i was thinking a ECU, big turbo/s, NOS kit, clutch and some injectors? thatd do it wouldnt it? all fitted by self, and no exhaust...

  10. you could search for the info, but ill make it easy for you... ECU , power FC is popular and cheap but theres heaps of others... you will also need injectors, 700cc sards are easy, fuel pump 044 seems the go... stock fuel system is only good for ~250awkw safe... you will also need air flow meters X2 to handle the increased flow. z32 or simlar, nismo would be my choice and if it were me, id go the garrett GT2860r -5 turbos... cams and cam gears, shoud see you to ~340awkw, without them, youd have to run high PSI boost to get there... ie. less safe...
  11. yep, but perhaps they open too late maybe, or not capable to release/flow enough volume perhaps? i thought it might be the bov`s, but read on here some people reckon they get less lag without bov`s at all. or block them off??? failing that, i think it might be the boost controller not closing the wastegate quickly enough after a gear shift? how is the wastegete(s) controlled on a 33GTR? new car, im learning still... what you think???

  13. flat bikkies mate, it does it even at 7000prm+... only time i can keep them spooled is if i dont shut the throttle completely, like when accel full boost, back off a LITTLE for a sec (small bov sneeze) then foot back down again in same gear. i get what id call `normal lag` to recompress all the intake plumbing but at least i can hear the whine almost immeditately telling me they didnt spool down... if i back off COMPLETElY in same gear fully boosted for a sec, (take right foot OFF) same prrrrrrr sound, and the turbos slow right down, when put foot down again, i can hear them spool all the way up again and i get my very laggy problem... is this normal?
  14. ok, just a couple quickies in relation to a modded r33 gtr... its running pfc, stock turbos with steel wheels @19psi, stock bovs and a bigger apexi intercooler... car was already modded when purchased recently so i dont know exactly how its all been done. also, im not sure if the setup is working as best as it could be... the car makes good power when turbos are spooled but lags more than i believe it should after a gear change at WOT. i have a suspision that the tubos stall (or surge?) when the throttle shuts when shifting, as i hear a `ptrrrrrrr' (slowing down) then spool up all over again, then feel the accel again...shouldnt they already be spooled and whine almost immediately? 1. how is boost controlled (by what mechanism ie. bleed valve etc) on a stock rb26? could there be room for better response with the $22 boost controller... 2. what does compressor surge sound like? Is it like a 'ptrrrrrrr' sound im getting?...(not just the ptshhhhhh of the bov) and how can i fix? BOV issues maybe? id love to eliminate some of this lag, any suggestions?
  15. ah found it!!!! the hose from the map sensor has fallen off! now i have no idea where to put it back on the plenum???? can someone describe where this hose connests to the plenum please!
  16. ok im not entirely sure which is the map sensor your talking about? can anyone tell me how to fault find the source of this problem? none of the hoses off the intake plenum look perished... there is an electrical sensor at the front of the plenum? what does it do? i pulled the dash apart and checked the wires and connection at the gauges, looks fine... no busted hoses under the bonnet... what next??? someone please help me out!

  18. oh btw, its a nismo center cluster... how do these work, electrically or mechanically via vacuum? contacted the guy i bought the car off, he said he had a new battery installled day before i picked it up and it was working before this??? hmmm...
  19. so does the guage see a voltage signal from the map sensor? or does it see a physical vacuum signal all the way back to the guage?
  20. can someone describe where the boost guage gets its signal from so i can fix? its an rb26 r33 gtr... new car so still learning where everything is...
  21. so the twin stockers are 65mm i think, at what power will this diameter become restrictive? what about the fuel pump? can i achive my goals on stock cams with timing adjustment?
  22. ah yes, the exhaust has been done already, turbo back 3.5inch... so the z32 are best replacement for the stock afm`s? there is 2 of them remember? i have been doing some more reading and it seems that the voltage is the problem??? or is it the diameter??? was gonna hold off on the cams, thought id get there without em? will i really need em to go over 300awkw? one other thing, i think the tune is very rich as i get alot of soot on the back of the car from the exhaust? is this normal? i know its safer, but can you still have a safe tune without the soot?
  23. hi folks, have just aquired myself an r33 gtr which has been moderately modified and tuned, running 240awkw or 357kw at engine. i want to achieve 300-350awkw on stock internals. the main mods so far-its running 19psi on stock turbos with steel wheels, big apexi fmic (125mm thick i think), power fc, stock fuel system, stock afm, big cold air intake with k/n filter, cam timing has been adjusted and a bunch of other supporting stuff like blasted intake manifold, oil cooler and catch cans etc etc... it goes nicely but of course want more... from the tuners report/comments he says he has taken the engine to a point where the air flow meters and injectors are a problem if you wish to go for bigger turbos. so, i want to get a pair of gt2860r or similar, turbos and want to make sure i have the other supporting stuff covered. the main question i have is about the airflow meters and what to do here? whats the problem with these and how best to overcome? how many hp will the stock r33 gtr fuel pump handle and what size injectors should i go for keeping in mind my power goals? do i need anything else apart from a tune once the above is completed? cheers...
