  1. Cheers guys! After a great deal of stuffing around....ive manage to pull it all apart and put it all back together again (drying everything as best i could in the process)! Other than the water found previously....there was a 5cm-10cm well of water sitting under the ignition coils! Its been a long day...i really need to sit down...so long story short it started...blew a little white smoke (water in the exhaust?...oily film in the intake?) and seems to run ok! However there are still some unresolved issues :- 1) I can hear a whining noise coming from the engine bay...perhaps a bearing? but dunno what one? 2) occasionally i can hear a kind-of-belt-slipping sound 3) When i run it through the entire rev range....up high (around 5-6k)...occationally it hesitates a little. Not sure if this is water still effecting electrics? or perhaps some crap goin through the intake? 4) Seems to run intermittently smooth then a little rough? (maybe even missing a cylinder occationally?) 5) Dunno if all my sensors and electrics are ok or not?
  2. Hey everyone, I dont know if you guys have heard yet, but Newcastle got hit by flash floods yesterday! THe water levels rose so high....cars were floating down the street. Unfortunately i was stuck in grid-lock traffic, with no choice but to drive through a rather deep section of road....1 metre 'rather deep'!!!..... I was lucky to get home! As a result my pride and joy is misfiring and carrying on! It idles ok....starts to rev ok....then, all power just drops out/cuts off...then trys to pick back up again! ....not happy! I obviously figured, i managed to get water in the intake (seeing as though water was washing up over my bonnet!!!)....so i started to pull a few things apart to see how far the water got! The air box had a fair bit of water sitting in the bottom!.....the piping from the air box to the turbo was damp!....the piping from the turbo to the intercooler was damp! (which means the turbo must have got water in it! F$%K)....the intercooler had a bit of water sitting in the bottom of it....it also has a greasy/oily film through it! (im thinking oil from the turbo!).....the piping from the cooler to the engine-intake was only slightly damp....and fortunately (and about the only fortunate thing about all of this mess!) is that the engine-intake (just before the throttle butterfly) looks relatively dry! Ive taking everthing inside...in an attempt to dry it all out....but i really need some expert advice -> 1) what damage may have been caused? 2) what if water is still residing in the turbo? 3) what should i do with the intercooler? How do i clean it out?....i put a hair dryer through it and the air velocity seems to slow down from one side of the cooler to the other....is this normal? 4) What do i do next? How will i know if there is damage i've over looked? I plan on putting everything back together this morning....so its kinda urgent....any expert advice would be much appreciated! Cheers
  3. It appears as though i have lost my copy of the DIY guide pushead posted about removing the instrumentation cluster! Ive searched though the entire forum and cant seem to find a link that works (there is a DIY post with a link to pusheads guide - but the link doesnt work!) Just wondering if anyone could re-post or re-link the guide....it would come in very handy, as i was planning on having a play with it tommorrow. Cheers,
  4. cheers guys i think ill take a look at it myself first...see if i can work out why its playing up, then go from there.
  5. cheers guys i think ill take a look at it myself first...see if i can work out why its playing up, then go from there. p.s. im not sure why this post appears in the DIY section as well - the first time i tried to post it, i accidently posted it in the DIY section and a message came up saying i couldnt post it in that section (the post was cancelled!) So i decided to post it here instead . Now its appearing in both??? I dunno?
  6. Hey guys, After months of intermittent flickering/bouncing of my tacho needle....its seems as though my tacho has finally had enough and wont run past 2000rpm any more! I've read the DIY guide by 'pushead' on removing the instrumentation cluster and it seems to be fairly easy.....btw awsome guide (lots of detail an great pics)...cheers. I still have a few question though - 1) The guide finishes with the cluster coming out of the dash, but still connected.....what happens next? Are the wires running to the cluster - soldered? or do they use connnectors? 2) When replacing the cluster, do you need to calibrate it? How do u go about this calibration proceedure? 3) Does anyone know where i can buy a 'new' cluster? or can u only buy 2nd hand ones? How much am i expecting to pay? 4) Do you know of any instrumentation experts where i can get the work done? How much roughly am i looking at? (I dont know if i will do the work myself or not? It depends on how much stuffing around is involved and how cheap it is - to simply get the work done by someone else.) Cheers,

  8. Hey everyone, Just a quick question for the R33 GTS-T owners/experts out there. I've noticed the fuel gauge remains ON (it still idicates the fuel level) even after turning the igition off. Is this normal? Should the fuel level drop to 'empty' when the igition is OFF and return to the 'current fuel level' when the igition is turned back ON again? Cheers,
  9. Hey everyone, Just wondering if anyone knew how to get the instrument cluster out of an R33 without destroying it? (my tacho is jumping around a bit and i need to see what the problem might be) Ive had a bit of a look in the DIY/Tutorials forums but no such luck. If anyone has instructions on removing the instrumention cluster that would be great! Cheers
  10. Hey everyone, I was just after a left-hand side (passenger) slimline weathershield for an R33 GTS-T Skyline. Does anyone know where i might be able to get one? OR have one for sale? Any help would be much appreciated, Cheers
