Transbrake and th400. Problem solved

Dont buy bearings until you know what clearances you want to run. If you are using stock rb26 rods install the rod bolts, torque to spec and check the sizing. Most of them need to be resized with arp fasteners. Same goes for the main studs. Install, torque and measure the tunnel. I highly doubt you will have a dial indicator setup on a bore guage small enough and long enough to accurately measure it. Bearings dont score journals. Poor clearance and assembly does

Rusted on nuts, how to remove
33GTRV replied to tridentt150v's topic in General Automotive Discussion
As in the cam sprocket or the balancer? If its the cam sprocket it may need a gentle heating to get off. If its the balancer bolt its factory torque is VVFT -

Hi Dirty3092. To give you an idea on how easy it is to make more grunt with near standard response, we have a 32 i have built here in regional qld where the average temp is mid to high 30's. It has an 8374 efr on it at 19psi and makes just shy of 575hp atw. It is a stock bottom end, oil pump ect, just a basic port on the head and drop in cams (my old head) . Thats on shell 98. Twins are purely for nostalgic purposes these days.

33GTRV replied to 33GTRV's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah doo doo. Deff the 3/8 fine.pretty odd that its like this. I went and grabbed a new stretch guage just in case and its not the guage. Might be sending a few back to arp by the looks of it -
Bolt stretch spec Spool rod L19 3/8 1.6"UHL
33GTRV replied to 33GTRV's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah. I went with the 6 thou at the start but to get that stretch was over 85ftlbs so i was asking. Spool were not in the slightest helpful with the issue, just a copy paste from arps website was recieved -
Go to a reputable engine builder, no offence but it sounds as though you arent too familiar with rbs or engine building.

Short block build costs basically go something like this. Strip clean and measure Sonic test bores and cracktest deck Bore and hone then line bore if reqd Deck or finish the head surfaces Crack test and check crank for straightness repair if required Fit oil restrictor Drill oil return holes and deburr oil return galleries at rear of head Fit crank collar if required Clean everything again Fit new freeze plugs Paint block Fit studs if requested Test fit and measure main bearings and measure journal sizing Test fit piston ringless and measure deck hieghts and block twist Size rods to new pins and file fit rings Dummy up short assebbly and recheck bearing clearances Disassemble and clean components. Final assembly and full torque of short engine. Fit ancillary items as requested such as oil pump, sump, heat exchanger and oil filter block ect So. Suddenly you need to add parts onto this and the cost of the machining. This is why some people who build engines charge what they do. Reliable, fast, cheap. Pick 2.

Performance 82lb springs. -
Have you drilled the block oil returns to 10mm? Have you enlarged the rear right hand block return passage and chamfered the edges on the return passages? Ill be venting my new engine from oil cap to sump but i have large clearancea for a gas shot in the future. If you are planning on caning the crap out of it i suggest it. And re read the oil control thread

A good 3.5inch mild steel custom job from the turbo back shouldnt set you back any more than 950 dollaroos with no cat. Add the price of your cat on top if you want to be legal. It will flow great and if you spend the right coin on good muff you will have a ayatem that will pass the noise test
