gtr box will fit straight in? I heard that the GTS4 box is a bit smaller?

hey guys, the syncros in my 92 R32 GTS4 gearbox were on the way out (crunching 3 and 4), so my mechanic took it out to fix it, he was trying to get parts for it, the guys from nissan say that my car used to be an auto, and was prob converted in japan. So now they got no idea which box is in it. Its a 4WD box, so could be GTR or GTS4, who knows what year. They said there could be 5 different types of boxes?? (i didnt know there were 5 types of 4WD boxes) Is any defining features from each box so that you can tell the difference between them? cheers.
