I Went To See Fast And Furious Last Night
PM-R33 replied to lingeringsoul's topic in General Automotive Discussion
This is from Auto Salon. ASM: Back in 2001 you came to Sydney for the premier of the original The Fast and The Furious movie. Some of us from Auto Salon showed you the car scene here and sourced some Nismo parts for your R34. Do you still own the car and have you done anything else to it? PW: Yeah i still have that one, that's the white one. And then O.S. Giken set me up with a bunch of stuff for another R34 V-Spec, Sonic Silver, Tomei gear, full roll cage, sequential, everything. It's not quite done yet. So i have one for the track and one for sreet. He also talks about his Porches that he owns and talks about his car company he is partners in called AE (Automotive Enthusiasts) previously known as Autobahn Exotics. Was a really good article to read. The interview with Vin Diesel was good aswell. -
Rb20det Running Poor Sounds Like A Boxer
PM-R33 replied to SileNceR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
100% one of the coil packs or a spark plug. A RB sounds like a WRX when it drops a cylinder and runs on 4 or 5. Easy way to check, when the car is idling, unplug the coilpack on cylinder one. If the note of the exhaust changes it's not that one. Plug it back in and go to the next. Keep doing this for all six until one of them doesn't change the cars sound. Thats your dropped cylinder. -

Gtr Vs Gtst Huge Difference In Performance?
PM-R33 replied to boostin_r33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
That's comparing a R34 GTT to a R32 GTR. How about we keep this topic to R32 GTST vs R32 GTR, R33 GTST vs R33 GTR and R34 GTT vs R34 GTR. Just because R32 GTR's are cheap and are quick, doesn't mean people choose them over something newer. Age is a key factor here. Every one is different and a more modern interior/exterior some times outweighs peoples choices over straight out performance in stock form. Easy to make a car quick, harder to make it look more modern and be more comfortable/easy to live with. -
VCT solenoid is my guess.

Well that makes a lot of sense now. For the record, yes i was thinking the alfoil thing lol but figured you ment the vinyl stuff like the Autosalon S15 did as mentioned.

Gtr Vs Gtst Huge Difference In Performance?
PM-R33 replied to boostin_r33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I think this thread is a bit all over the place because no one is being specific with what they are comparing. In my opinion there is quite a large difference between a R32 GTR and R32 GTST (which seems to be the main point every one is arguing). Engine wise is what mainly comes into play when comparing the RB20 and RB26. Torque difference from the larger displacement is something that can't be over looked. However, between a R33 GTST and R33 GTR i believe the difference begins to narrow. The RB25 and RB26 are in essence the same bottom end. The differnce here lies between the turbo setup, the head and individual throttles. This is obviously comparing them stock to stock . The RB26 has more power, however it is also a lot heavier than the GTST. The thing is, a R33 GTST was always that much cheaper than the R33 GTR and it's only nowadays that R33 GTR prices are falling. The money saved on a GTST could easily be spent on matching the engine performance of a stock GTR. When it comes to handling the GTR has better coilovers from factory over the GTST, thicker sway bars and a better diff (unless you have a factory optioned Vspec ALSD model like mine). Once again, most people can put better coilovers and thicker swaybars on so once again nothing big. The main difference here is the 4WD system which is the GTR's MAIN ADVANTAGE. Thing im trying to say, obviously stock for stock the GTR is always better, hence why they cost more. Once they begin to be both modified, it depends what is done to both and the margin between them starts narrowing. Look at people putting twin cam RB30's in. Smashes a GTR's performance. The thing that can't be changed is putting the power down to the ground with ATESSA. This is what seperates a GTST and a GTR and is the main contributing factor to GTR's being so quick off the line or on a track when big power comes into play. (Unless you have a ATTESSA equiped GTST ) So i don't really get the point of this thread. Is a stock GTR better than a stock GTST/GTT.......Yes. Can a GTST/GTT be modified to smash a GTR........Yes. Can a GTR be modified to smash a modified GTST/GTT......Yes. The thing is, it's all a question of money. You have lost of money, you can make anything fast. Simple as that. -

Can some one explain what "foiling" a car is? Cause in my mind im thinking something way different...

High Flow Turbo Vs Stock Turbo For R-33 Gts-t
PM-R33 replied to blitz r33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
-Your used to the power -The car is getting older and more worn therefore could be affecting performance -Something could be wrong, blocked cat, oil build up throughout cooler, plenum, throttle etc -Needs a service, thick oil, bad plugs etc Number of things really that could be affect performance, or it's just your imagination He's an idiot. -
The more an oil burns and the more an oil is working the darker it gets. Don't worry to much about the colour though as an oil will go black fairly quickly.

The normal Royal Purple is a group IV oil, not a group V. The Royal Purple XPR Racing oil might be a group V but im not sure. Group V oils are those which use synthetic esters (diesters, polyolesters, alklylated napthlenes, polyglycols etc.) Such as Motul 300V which was the first oil in the world to use double esters. The ratings on the oil simply say "they meet these ratings or exceed them". These ratings were derived to seperate group I, II, II and IV oils; with IV being the highest. Once esters were created for use in 100% synthetic oils by Motul in 1971 and then again using double esters in 2004 in the form of 300V, they could no longer class them in a group IV because they were above it, therefore group V oils were created.

Base timing on a RB25 is 15 degrees from factory off memory. I doubt that would have anything to do with your miss though.

Very happy with the head work man and one of the best prices i could find. Most places wanted double what he charged. What workshop are you at? PM me if you don't want to post it on the forum.

Obviously the turbo shall be the limiting factor, it aint made for big earth shattering dyno figures, i just wanted the best possible power delivery out of the current setup. The car is bullshit reponsive and makes 1.5bar at around 3500rpm and pulls hard to redline (7500rpm), if i stomp it in 2nd gear it wheel spins as soon as it hits full boost, exactly what i wanted for a street car. I'm very happy with it and will most likely leave it how it is, only reason i'm thinking to do the MAP sensor upgrade is because it is still an issue and i don't like anything not working 100% on the car because it shits me. Like i said, got more important stuff to concentrate on at the moment, so for the time being the car is gonna stay the way it is for a while.
