  1. Now obviously these aren't ADR approved? (not that i really care) Would you have to use bonnet pins with it or is the part where the lock mechanism goes pretty tuff? Also with the carbon fibre one, is it carbon fibre on the inside of it aswell? Sorry for all the questions but this is probably one of only a handful of bonnets that i have seen that i actually like for the series II.
  2. Thats more like it! Looks good, you got a picture of it on a car? How much you selling them for?
  3. Can only get a 250cc because im not on my opens yet (lost license for 6 months last year so pushed it forward) and i dont want the bike for speed, i want it for good economy, cheap parts (ninjas have been around for ages and the engines and parts havnt changed much so theres parts every where for them) and i mainly want it too look good. So a 250cc is the most practical. If i wait a while till i get my opens and buy a bike for $12000+ in a 1000cc i may aswell drive the skyline every day. Had a look at second hand bikes and honestly theres nothing for cheap that i like in a 250cc. I dont want a dirt bike for the road and in road bikes theres CBR250's, Hyosung GT250R and a couple of others that are fairly new (dont want an old bike). All cost around $4000-$6000 second hand. So for a brand new bike for only $6999 on the road that looks better than any other 250cc i've ever seend (might try to get it a bit cheaper if i pay cash or maybe get a demo model) its a pretty good deal. The reviews i've read about them are great and everyone says how nice and easy they are to ride so im really looking forward to trying one out.
  4. Me lol. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/08...0r-t226967.html Buying a new Ninja 250R. Dont care how fast it is, its to get me to uni and work nearly every day, i want the car for speed. The amount of fuel i go through in the skyline, the amount of money it costs me servicing it every 5000km with 300V Motul oil, expensive tyres, having to worry about it every time i park it some where suss etc etc. Its not so much just for the sake of buying a bike to save a few bucks on fuel, its also trying to not use the skyline as much with the prices of everything going through the roof and i wanna keep the skyline for a long time and do a lot more to it but it becomes less practical to drive every single day the more i spend on it and i hate parking it out the front of the gf's house over night or something worrying about it. So for my situation its a good idea and lets me experience something new again.
  5. Ok, to retain the VCT the maximum you can go is either a Tomei Poncam in a 256 or a HKS 256 (There may be others like Jun cams or something that still retain the VCT but these two are the most commonly used ones). Most of the cam companies dont actually make a 264 cam that allows you to fit the VCT cam gear, in other words the actual fittings wont allow you to put the VCT cam gear on. Now as for replacing lifters, springs etc. The only thing you should replace, regardless or what cams you go is the valve springs. Some people dont have any problems on standard valve springs if they are in good condition, but if you have read my thread you will see the amount of dramas i have had (which still isnt solved). We have tried everything known to man and the valve springs is the most logical answer that is causing my problems with either the valves not seating properly and being held open or something along those lines. I have the new valve springs in my room now, but i ended up putting the standard cams back in. It goes back on the dyno this week and if the power returns on the standard cams im f***ing the HKS cams and springs off.
  6. lol like a rex ay, hmmm i wonder if that would be a good thing or a bad thing haha. Let me know what he thinks of it when he gets it.
  7. Good idea mate. Car make/type/model : Nissan Skyline R33 GTST Year : 1996 Overall condition of car: 8/10 How is the car treated: 3/10 (normal day use to and from uni/work) to 8/10 (When i feal the need to thrash it up mt stuart) Maintenance level: 9/10 Modifications: Every major bolt on other then a rebuilt bottem end Insurance: Full comprensive (Shannons) Estimated power: 255rwkw last tune Estimated $ spent per year to maintain: $5000-$6000 annum on servicing every 5000km (motul fluids, plugs, filters) insurance, car care products etc. However i get stuff pretty cheap through Autobarn.
  8. What would you like to use it for........
  9. Pretty sure they mean off the cams.
  10. That value has to be wrong! That is a HUGE amount of force and why on earth would it be 3 times more than an RB25 one?
  11. Hahahaha Looks like im going to have to track down one of those heat shields now...
  12. The boys showed me the top gear ad at work the other day and i pissed my self laughing. Very funny ad.
  13. It's a 250cc and parts i can get cheap through work so thats not really an issue. Allready got a helmet etc. It's rated to around 100km on 4-5L of fuel around town. My car these days around town gets me 300km to a tank if im lucky. The other main reason is i need something next year that is going to always be there to get me to uni and back as if my car breaks down or something im screwed like this last semester had to keep getting lifts to uni from other people. For my situation its a good choice so dont try to talk me out of it Just more interested as to what they are like since i can't get too see one or ride one for another month or so.
  14. Where did you get that HKS heat shield!! I want one! Did it come with the kit?
  15. Any one that deals with NGK plugs can order them in. I seriously doubt you would need to go 9 or 10 heat range plugs. Maybe 8. My old mans blown ls1 Monaro has around 620-650HP and he uses BKR6E plugs with no dramas at all. If you start going towards 9 or 10 heat ranges you will barely be able to start your car on cold start in the mornings. Like i said, try the 7 heat range and if its a problem go towards a 8. At the end of the day its going to cost you around $18 for a set of copper plugs so if you get the heat range wrong its not the end of the world. Hopefully your coil packs are up to scratch, if not get a set of splitfires and put in a HKS twin ignition system and i seriously doubt you will have any dramas.
  16. With the cost of fuel going through the roof and me needing to get to uni everyday and to work i've decided to buy a bike for every day use and keep the skyline for weekends. I love the new Ninja 250R and at $6999 on the road brand new its an absolute bargain. The dealer up here will have them in stock in about a month so im waiting till then to have a closer look at one. I had a look at the 600 and the only difference visually is pretty much the exhaust. Gorgeous bike. So anyway just wondering if anyone has ridden one yet or own one and what they think of it?
  17. Start at a BKR7E at its standard 0.8 gap and see how it goes, if it breaks down gap it down a bit. If you still have dramas with this try going a higher heat range but i think your main concern is going to be the ignition system, maybe look into a HKS twin spark system if you have spark break down issues.
  18. The boost problem is in the stock engine management, i had a similar problem. Replace the ECU and the tune should fix it. You can't run bigger injectors on a stock ECU because you have no way to rescale them. Its the same if you put bigger injectors on an aftermarket ECU, it still wont run them unless you rescale them which you can't do on a stock ECU.
  19. I remember reading that article, was very well written and as others have said, at the end of the day everyone works their ass off for a pay cheque week by week for their entire life. There is no point dying with ten million dollars in your bank account and never spending the money to enjoy life. If there is something in your life that makes you truely happy, why not spend the money that you have worked hard for to make yourself happy and enjoy your life? At the end of the day what more do we have, but to live our lives and hopefully be happy.
  20. Yep, would have had a bit of air in the system and when it started evaporating the radiator sucked through some extra coolant from the overflow bottle. Just top her up a bit again and all should be fine.
  21. How are you running larger injectors on stock engine management?
  22. Hahahahahaha fair enough then.
  23. Lol trust me, that thought has been in my mind for a long time. The stock cams are back in there at the moment, going back on the dyno this week to see if the power returns to normal, atleast it will give us some indication of whats going on. If it goes back to 260ish kw's i think i might sell the cams and new valve springs and let some one else deal with it haha.
  24. U know im interested man keen to hear what you think of it over the GTRS
  25. Keep it set to the standard 0.8 gap and see how she goes. If your ignition system is up to scratch it should be fine. If it starts missfiring badly try gapping them down bit by bit.
