Rated power, so engine HP. I remember seeing the list a few years ago. Best bet would be just to call up QLD transport.

The funny thing is, putting a getrag in will actually raise the revs since the 6th gear ratio is actually shorter than the 5 speed 5th. It's the final drive diff ratio that makes the getrag achieve the taller gears.
-
Progressive fuel cut maybe? Not 100% on that one. I have hit the stock limiter in the R33 back in the day and yeah it is very smooth. In the Vipec you can choose what type of cut you want. You can also set up a 2 way setup for a soft cut and a hard cut so my actual limiter in the car is very smooth now, similar to what the speed limiter was.

Have you dropped the exhaust at the cat and checked that way to ensure there isn't an exhaust restriction (ie. collapsed cat)?

Yeah from memory the graphics on the N64 were way better than the PS1. Man looking at those photos is crazy. I remember the graphics back then looking good. Now you look at that and it is nearly unbearable lol.

Meh, I give up. This is worse than speaking to a child.

You are horrible at proper discussions. You remind me of people that are involved in debates that start losing and instead turn it into personal attacks. You don't address any of my points but simply say something like that. I'm trying to keep this civilised. I could easily do what your doing, cop a warning and get the thread locked. But what's the point?
-
Actually I gave him quite a lot of advice regarding his engine build. Also where was I giving him shit? I even said my post wasn't aimed at giving him shit but more addressing the fact he wasn't taking any ones advice. I didn't need to say anything about the gearbox since every one had allready summed it up. But fine, if you want a proper post from me regarding the gearbox to the OP here it is: OP. What every one has said in this thread (other than cannabiscorpse) is true. The cost of the exercise will be huge and offer little gain. Save the money for something else or rebuild the box/diff with the ratios you want if that is the reasoning.
-
Your post that I addressed was: I said the house renovation thing because it was equally as stupid as your post. The fuel pressure regulator comment was because it was atleast on par. People buy them for no real reason, waste money and get nothing out of it. Basically the same as the situation here. OP has no real reason for wanting one, will waste a HUGE amount of money and get nothing out of it. In the situation for the OP though he clearly had no idea about the costs (just like every one else that makes this exact thread). And therefore it shouldn't be done. As a general overall, sure it can be done and if some one has a huge amount of cash to spend and they have reasoning go for it. This aint the case here. Really? And you have? If anything every one here has given proper advice other than YOU. Stop trying to make the snide personal attacks. I'm not going to bite or drop to your level.

Also in case some people don't know. Nismo actually make a 6 speed conversion as a complete kit: http://www.nismo.co.jp/en/products/competition/mission/getrag.html Cheapest option is $11,000 with no freight or obviously any labour.

What are you on about. I was addressing your two comments which I clearly did. Also "all that time typing". Dude I don't know how long it takes you to type but that above took me like 2 minutes.
-
Well dude no shit. That is hardly the point. No one fixes a cars old paint job to new because they think it will give them performance. That's like saying building a bigger bathroom in the house is essentially useless performance wise for your car. I mean, what the? If you want to talk a proper analogy it is like buying an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator for a stock Skyline. I aint saying a 6 speed into a Skyline shouldn't be done. If some one gave me a Getrag and fitted it I would be fairly happy. The discussion here is about an average Joe thinking about putting a 6 speed into his NA R33, not about Top Secret building a $200,000 car with an open cheque book. Also if this was a discussion about wanting a stronger gearbox obviously there are a heap of gear set options for a lot less money. The discussion here however has no actual reasoning other than "I think a 6 speed would be cool". Well given that you will not get a Getrag box under $4000 delivered and then add to the fact that even then the boxes are pretty hard to find inside of Australia makes it a quite reasonable price including every single cost. I remember in highschool I worked at a performance workshop afterschool and we were trying to track down a Getrag for a Supra manual conversion. I rang up about 5 of our big suppliers in Australia and nearly all of them laughed at me. They said even if they did have one they wouldn't be selling it. But fine, let's say it wasn't $10,000, let's say it was $7000. Really doesn't change the point.

Pretty sure it is fuel cut. Most cars use a fuel cut on speed limit and on rev limiter. It doesn't damage the engine since there is no fuel to burn, therefore no combustion. Ignition cut is what the BeeR Revlimiter and antilag uses.
-
Not really.
-
ECU detects speed limit reached, cuts fuel, car slows down below limiter, fuel re-engages, car speeds up again and repeat. Therefore the needle will just bounce back and forth off 180km/h.

Good thread. I've actually been looking into this more and more with the Vipec. Definetely something I want to setup.
-
That pain will be with me for life.

See the main thing that I keep thinking is that maybe a socket won't go over it since they sit all the way inside the wheel and there simply won't be enough room? Hence why the Ray GTC lug nuts are open ended since that is all you will ever fit. Here a picture is worth a thousand words. Will explain the differences. After drawing that I really don't fit there is any other options than what I allready have.

This is one of my pet hates on SAU. Some one makes a thread for other peoples opinions because they have very little knowledge on the subject (completely fair, that's the purpose). However when the people with the experience and knowledge tell that person it is a bad idea and will cost $10,000 the OP starts getting cocky and having a go at people. I don't get it. Why make the thread then? I'm not trying to give you shit. I just don't get it. Obviously you had no idea on the subject so why not take peoples advice straight away? Also people comparing some one spending money on wheels/kit/etc. as been in the same boat as this gearbox conversion doesn't get the point and it is nowhere near the same. Also to this: This to me sounds like you once again have very little information. You do know that the RB26 turbo setup won't bolt straight up onto a RB25 head? If you wanted to do that you should have just started with the RB26 head. Would have been a lot easier. And as others have said. Start this with a GTST. All people that start these projects with a GTS end up regretting it because it ends up costing more than if they had started with a GTST and the GTST has a lot of extras in it over the GTS. Also how do you build an engine when you don't actually know what the setup for it will be? What CR have you built it to? And how is it 40% done, but running and being N/A? Is it in the car running but you have bolted all the NA gear onto it for the time being? Just my 2C.

You want this. Made by Haigh and available at any auto parts place.
-
So basically the same situation as me? As I said, I run those open ended ones with no dramas at the moment on my extended wheel studs. However I want some nice black closed ended ones.
-
Yep the same as my one. Will let you know. Ok cool. Just send me one and I will do a copy for Rob.
-
Holy crap Jono, can't believe your car gotten written off!!! Also what a cunt for saying that about your car! Also Callan if you want to wait a bit for that carbon cooling panel I will know of a brand new one available (no not mine) for cheaper than elsewhere.

The Megs tyre shine gel is the best I have used to date. Easy to apply with a curved applicator, extrememly high shine and one bottle lasts you a year or more. It used to be black and stain your fingers a lot. But nowadays it is clear and no where near as bad.
