Yep that's fair enough The purpose of this kit was something that would bolt straight on, not cause brake bias issues and be a good quality affordable upgrade for most of the cars on this forum that are used for street or track work. Obviously it aint the best brake kit money can buy for a race car; the top of the range Wilwood kits go for triple the price of what we are aiming for here.
-
One thing no one has mentioned is have some money put aside for new factory coilpacks or Splitfires as most likely the old factory ones will not be up to the task.

Cheers for that Roy. As I said, i'll speak to my engineer about this whole dust seal thing aswell and see what he says. As for the insurance question, pretty sure for you to have a problem with it, the insurance company would have to prove that the accident you got into was a direct cause from your brakes not being legal/approved/engineered/having no dust boots or what ever the exact reason for this whole Wilwood legality thing is about. So the only way I can see that happening is if your brakes failed as a direct results of the Wilwoods and you couldn't stop the car and it smashed into another car. When have you ever heard of something like that happening? Guys just remember, Wilwood have been making brakes for around 35 years in their California factory and also do a lot of brakes for the US Military. They are not cheap and unsafe brakes.

The main issue is the dust boots and the fact in Australia it makes them not legal (but really, who is going to know that?). Obviously they are not ADR approved, that is pretty much a given. Neither are most Jap brand brakes. Calling the brand cheap and unsafe is utter bull. Plenty of people run "cheap" Taiwanese/Chinese built brakes and even those don't cause problems. If people don't want to do the group buy that is fine, hence the purpose of this thread, to gauge if there was interest
-
Yeah I haven't had any dramas with them as they are.
-
Yeah I'll do a third one, got plenty of mates that keep bugging me for some.
-
Well I suppose if we do the group buy I will list it as 18" minimum and then when I get the kit I will try to fit some 17" wheels over them and see how close it comes. If it fits, at least people that would want to do another batch could possibly get some to clear 17" wheels. Also regarding the final price, I will post it up in a short time once we finalise the freight costs. As I said, the price I initially gave of under $2000 was a rough figure just to see if there was interest.

Has any one finished the Zombie Arcade yet? I got up to level 36 where the Hell Hounds come out and got owned, so close! Level 40 is supposibly the last one and you fight the boss.

Righteo so I have been researching this whole dust boot thing and why nearly all Wilwood calipers don't have dust boots. Here is some good info I found from this site: http://www.350zbrakes.com/ Now legally in QLD I believe a big brake upgrade requires an engineer to check over it (pity I can't sign of on it myself ) so I will go see a friend and have a chat to him about this whole dust boots thing and see if he will sign off on it. So what are peoples thoughts on it? Personally it doesn't bother me to much.

I sent half this morning, hopefully have the rest sent out this afternoon before work.

Carbon Fibre S2 Front Foglight/indicator Surrounds Group Buy!
PM-R33 replied to PM-R33's topic in Group Buys
Here is the DIY on how to install them - includes plenty of pics http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/348458-diy-carbon-fibre-s2-foglightindicator-surrounds-install/ Also just a heads up for any one reading this considering purchasing some. I have a spare set available ready for shipment for the same price as this group buy (I had to order two kits to get the numbers to get it to go ahead). So just PM me if you wish to purchase them. Thanks. -
The rotor size is the largest we can go with the caliper/bracket setup I have been told. I will definetely ask regarding the dust boots. I am not sure if the DBA rotor will fit the Wilwood hat, I just ment a DBA 2 piece rotor. However it is once again something I can look into. For most people, the rotors will last longer than what they will keep the car; Having said that though, I still think it would be cheaper to just get replacement Wilwood rotors from the US when the time comes. Yeah I looked at that kit, but for the extra $700 or so, I would prefer the larger 6 piston calipers and larger two piece rotors. That kit is something that I wanted to look at for the rear.

I will start getting them ready today and hopefully post them out tomorrow or Thursday

Here is a quick DIY on how to fit the PSI Parts carbon fibre foglight/indicator covers that I organised to get made in this group buy: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/337956-carbon-fibre-s2-front-foglightindicator-surrounds-group-buy/ The install is very easy and only requires basic tools and basic mechanical skill. TOOLS REQUIRED 12mm spanner Philips head screwdriver Flat head screwdriver First of all use a 12mm spanner to remove the two bolts that hold the entire housings onto the front bumper: You will find the two bolts located in these positions: You will need to remove it out at an angle because there is a clip on the outside that holds it in place and also remove the electrical plug. There is 6 screws that hold the cover onto the housing, remove these screws: Now simply remove the cover and put the new carbon covers on (with one of my covers I found that the factory screws were a bit to thin to be used on the new covers so I simply purchased some slightly thicker ones). If the screws don't perfectly line up with the mounts, just use a flathead screwdriver to gently push them into position. They shouldn't need much of an adjustment though: Put it all back together in the reverse process and you are done I'm very happy with how they turned out and the fitment is virtually perfect. The carbon weave is gorgeous and it definetely gives a unique look to the series II factory front bumper. Cheers Phil
