OK... to clear up some speculation, i've had this very same problem for 8 months. Using a 5400rpm 2.5" hard disk in an external casing (been using this drive for YEARS). One USB connected = "NA USB" on the screen Connecting the secondary USB power to my laptop while the primary is into the head unit = "NA USB" on the screen Formatting (fully and properly) the 40Gb disk as FAT32 = "NA USB" on the screen Formatting as a 32Gb FAT32 partition = "NA USB" on the screen Connecting my 1Gb and 8Gb USB keys works instantly. Both of these are less than 32Gb, and are formatted as FAT32. I'm now looking into cluster sizes as a suspect. I'll be formatting my disk as 8Gb soon (the default cluster size should, in theory, be the same as my USB key)

Surprise Official Sau Mid Year Dyno Day 16 August
RANDY replied to Abo Bob's topic in Events Archive
Wowser! So for 10rwkw more than I have, it cost you somewhere around 3K? There must be something not quite right with the tune perhaps? I would have thought that kind of setup would get easily 200rwkw? Thanks for sharing though, it's nice to see what setups do what results. =-D -

Surprise Official Sau Mid Year Dyno Day 16 August
RANDY replied to Abo Bob's topic in Events Archive
Thought i'd share... 183kw R34GTT SMIC 3" Split dump/waste 3" Cat 10psi Everything else stock. I think I had the most quiet car there on the day! (which is probably why someone tried to start my car while it was already running) I was quite pleased with the result though! Overall the day went well, but I haven't been out on a Skylines meet for a year or so... everyone was quite new to me! Thanks for organising it! -
I know i'm a bit late to the game, but I was going to say "it's where your factory charcoal cannister should be!". I noticed a few years ago when I was shopping around for my Skyline that most of the cannisters had been replaced and relocated as part of compliancing. I think some compliancing places don't have the same-sized replacements, so they have to mount their bigger units somewhere else just to fit them in.

Powersteering Pump Giving Everyone The Shits
RANDY replied to Wacky Dee's topic in General Maintenance
Was it the pipe that I mentioned? I think it was the high-pressure side and not the return which was my problem also. -
Wicked! Good to hear, and you're very welcome =-]

Powersteering Pump Giving Everyone The Shits
RANDY replied to Wacky Dee's topic in General Maintenance
I used to get a low-pitched groaning noise when my reservoir was low. I had a leaky pipe on the drivers side (For the steering rack, near the oil filter... the rubber pipe that joins to the metal pipes.) Once I replaced that and topped up the fluids, the noise went away for good. I assumed that it was just low levels, and my mechanic at the time suggested that there could be an air-pocket in the line because of this. I guess yours has bled the system properly and all that, and there is no leak... so i'm at a loss too! =-o -
Powersteering Pump Giving Everyone The Shits
RANDY replied to Wacky Dee's topic in General Maintenance
I'd still want to check the belts... especially if they're new. Once they're all nicely worn in and stretched they should slip a bit and squeal... which usually means you need to adjust the pump. Well, unless the sound is DEFINITELY coming from somewhere else, it's a nice quick and easy thing to do! -
From memory, the SAFC requires you to cut the AFM wire, so that the SAFC sits inbetween the split. If the AFC is missing now, you'd need to rejoin the white wire back together until you replace the SAFC. As above, if your AFM is faulty you'd get that cutout effect around that rev-range. Cutting the wire from it to the ECU is the same as it being dead. (no reading to the ECU)

wow! The distributor wants $385 directly. That's some awesome buying-power! Thanks for the update though.. I sold it very happily for $250. =-]

I can't edit my posts anymore... Unit is sold. Thanks guys!
-
In that case, i'll better any proven price by 10%. I don't want to overcharge anyone. And it's still open to offers anyway. =-]

Serious? I've never seen anything like it in JB... got link?
-
I can't seem to edit, but it is actually a 4.3" screen, not 3.5... I just realised.

I bought it on eBay. There are plenty for sale there. Their selling price plus shipping works out to be around $400... I think I paid slightly under that. I think I paid $380ish all up, and the receipt is in the box for warranty purposes. I'm open to offers (as stated in first post), cause i'm saving to go overseas in a couple of months. Cheers!
-
I'd say a bit less than 1.5... It overhung my pocket by.. umm... 2cm? I could still put my hand in to get my smokes and mobile out! I'll try to get a pic up soon of it fitted. Cheers!

Yes... DIVX, XVID etc... I don't know about power output actually! It has rear RCA and front RCA outputs. One pair is on the harness, the other pair is built into the rear (all pictured) and there is another yellow one for sub only. (on the harness with the front RCA outputs) Oh I just found the output.. on the first picture above, the very right-hand side, bottom of the list... 4x50watt. I think there is a youtube video of someone using it to show it off. Search for 3.5" dvd or something? =-] Cheers!

Item: Regan RF-302B headunit Age: 1.5 months Condition: Like new Price: 330ono Location: Northern Beaches of Sydney. Can post. Contact: via only this thread please. Mobile will be given to the buyer. Comments: I bought this headunit in February, and I have the receipts for warranty purposes. It *just* fit in my R33, but my (supposedly lost) new headunit arrived shortly afterwards. Now surplus to my needs, it is up for sale! If there is no interest here, it will go on eBay. (where they sell for a bit over my initial asking price) I'm open to offers, and I realise that I will lose a bit of money because of my hasty/impatient buying... It's like brand new, and I don't think i've put any scratches on it. The screen is 3.5" widescreen, and I haven't even taken off the protective film! (it's a touch-screen and I wanted to protect it) The box and pictures show all the details... but at a glance: It plays DVD's, CD's, and VCD's. You can burn mp3's to a DVD and play them too! It accepts a 3.5mm stereo jack input for ipods or whatever you like. It is touchscreen, and there is an overlay that can control just about every function of the player. It has video input, video output, reverse camera capabilities.... etc etc It does BLUETOOTH... both for audio devices and for your phone. You can make and take calls through the unit, which auto-mutes the music at the same time. The faceplate is removeable, and quite nice to look at. It's also motorised to 3 different viewing angles (vertical motion only) It does radio, and has many presets available. Reception was as good as any other. It has a TV tuner built in, which needs an antenna. I haven't tried it. It has a USB input too, for external HDD's or a USB key. There are cables coming out the back of the unit, and the usual plug-in set of cables for speakers, power, more RCA outputs etc. As you can see, I have left some plugs on the ends of the wires... there is plenty of cable left, so you can remove them if you use a different sort. And here are the pics!

Oh man I feel like a tool... I bought a sorta "CarPC" kind of head unit from the States... it does DVD/CD mp3,wmv, bluetooth, with a 3.5" screen. It didn't have a dedicated antenna control wire, and overall the product seemed lacking in the basic functions and ease of use. I had a bit of a go at the manufacturer about the antenna wire, then spent a few weeks shopping around for a "standard" brand of HU. I just received my Pioneer DEH-P600UB which does everything except the DVD part... low and behold, no antenna wire! I could shoot myself! As "naga" said above, it seems that all or most Pioneer units don't control your electric antenna. =-/ My 10+ year old Kenwood unit in my first car did, my ancient Sanyo "CD-only" POS did, and my current 4 year old Kenwood HU does it. The two units I have just bought don't. =-[ I feel your disappointment... the antenna up all the time looks dorky.
