  7. Okay, here's the go, Lazy Jess didn't take out the Thermostat on the weekend.... BUT I've noticed something that might assist in pointing out what the problem is! As you all know my car gets HOT, first thing is, if I'm driving at 100kms constant it will sit at around 97-99 degrees but when I'm driving at 70-80kms an hour it cools down to 93-95. Now the biggest thing I've noticed is, when my car gets above 97 degrees I now turn my heater on, I put it on 32degrees full blast and within 5 minutes my car always cools down to 90degrees or sometimes lower and just stays there, does this say anything in particular????? Any thoughts are appreciated, I think my overall answer is to just upgrade the damn radiator, I'm not intentionally being lazy, just have a lot going on and I guess I am big time procrastinating too but hey if the heater is cooling my car down when it gets really hot then its not too much of a huge problem right this second as such (just trying to excuse my laziness! ) Thanks Guys!
  8. Thanks so much for your assistance Guys! I did the flush at home last weekend, I enjoy doing these things myself I am going to take the Thermostat out this weekend and see whats going on and from there if there are no improvements I'll try some of the other suggestions. I'll keep this up to date with where it all takes me, hopefully it won't be too complicated or expensive to fix not that it really matters cos after all it is my life, my pride and joy :laughing-smiley-014: Cheers once again!

  10. Hi Guys, I have done a lot of research and I still feel that I need a lot of assistance on this please so I am ever so sorry if this has been posted somewhere and I have missed it. I have a R33 GTS-T with a HKS GT2535 and plenty of upgrades running at approximately 235rwkw (safe tune). Back when it was a bit cooler a few weeks ago my average water temp was 85 - 90degrees and now that the temperatures are in the 30's + it is now running at 95 degrees on average and has gotten up to 102 which is the highest I've seen it. I'm getting this temperature from my Power FC hand controller. My stock temperature gauge has never budged above 'average'. On the weekend I did a radiator flush and put in the best coolant on the market hoping that this would assist in cooling it down a bit thinking maybe the previous owner had diluted the concentrated mix a bit too much however this didn't assist. I have read that the coolant is safe up to approximately 137 degrees and my oil (10W - 40) is safe up to 148 degrees and with the oil temp being an average of 35 degrees hotter then the water temp my car should be pretty safe still at the moment on the basis that it does not get any hotter! I do not have an upgraded radiator and I am aware that the front mount intercooler does reduce air to the radiator causing these cars to be hotter then normal. I would prefer not to upgrade the radiator if there is another way around cooling my car down quite substantially. I haven't replaced the thermostat yet but it is on my to do list this weekend as well as taking my radiator to be properly serviced in case it is seriously blocked. I have read that an Oil Cooler will divert the oil through the cooler once the oil reaches a certain temp and will cool the oil and the whole car? If this is the case then would I need to upgrade the radiator? I do not know much about Oil Coolers and wouldn't have a clue where to start to be honest. I have read about them but nothing has pointed me in the right direction. What is better, getting an Oil Cooler that only diverts the oil once at a certain temp or one that is flowing the oil through all the time? Does anyone recommend any particular brand or 'type'? What real difference does it make as to whether I buy a 19 row, 25 row or a 50 row? Will it cool my car a lot more to get a 50 row or is it really about the amount of space I have in the engine bay? I apologise for all the questions and would really appreciate no one bagging me out for 'not knowing enough' or doing enough 'research' as I really have tried my absolute hardest and I don't particularly want to get ripped off by some mechanic trying to bollocks me with unnecessary expenses. (the negative attitude is from people giving me crap before for asking questions! Any assistance on this matter is GREATLY appreciated! Cheers Guys!

Front Mount Intercooler K & N Pod Turbo Back Exhaust Turbosmart Blow Off Valve Manual Boost Controller Running 10psi Heavy Duty Clutch Full Alpine Sound System Body is series 2 kit but has GTR Wing Car has been lowered Roh Drift R 17" Rims with 235's all round with 80% tread I estimate that my car is running 170rwkw and I get 500 to 550kms per tank of petrol (approx 55litres) which is the best thing about having this beast! Very responsive for a stock turbo! Interior Immaculate.   14. Found out what the problem is............ Need to replace my exhaust manifold gasket.... don't ask me how it was causing all of those problems especially the pinging but thats the only thing wrong with my car!!!!! Thanks for everyone's help!!!!! P.S Now I have to buy one, where do I buy a manifold gasket from???

  16. I've checked my oil level, I changed it about 3000kms ago I believe, I double checked my oil last night and its gone darker since friday night??? does that mean anything? The oil level isn't low at all though! What else could cause the tappets making the noise? not enough oil isn't the answer and I don't feel that the oil is that dirty??? It nearly needs replacing but not that bad. the car has barely been run, but for the short amount of time that it has I wouldn't have thought it was enough to change the whole colour??? the car drops revs very rarely and very randomly, doesn't happen often anymore in comparison to a month ago and I haven't changed anything. It mainly drops to 0rmp and bounces back up when I do a short burst of acc and then placing the clutch in to stop all of a sudden??? Never when the engine is cold! The car starts fine, the car drives fine, just makes this damn noise! It is no longer pinging as far as I can tell! The noise I believe I can hear sounds like the injectors when car is stationary and not in gear, when I start driving it the noise becomes louder and faster??? Sound stays the same just louder and faster??? Driving me nuts! I'm driving my partners old skyline now, nearly put my foot through the floor from his ridiculously light clutch!!! haha! I want my car back!!!!! Anyone think it could be a particular sensor failing???
  17. Generally I don't drive my car below Empty as who wants to break down which usually takes 52 - 55L from empty to fill it up for me! The other day I drove it way past empty, fuel light came on, drove it with the fuel light on and it took 61L to fill it up... still had 4 left!!! It sure is a 65L tank! So weird how it is set up though, 10L plus after empty!!!
  18. I've already got a AFC Neo and I'm waiting to book it in to get it tuned at 12psi but its not safe to do this until the car is no longer making this noise?! I think it's no longer pinging.... I believe the noise I can now here is something else coming from the engine. I am thinking whatever had caused my car to ping was water in the engine or petrol tank?! There is still a very violent noise coming from my engine and when driving my vehicle you can hear the noise coming out of the exhaust as well???? I am going to put meth in my petrol tank tonight to absorb any water that could possibly be in my petrol tank... I am also going to clean my injectors.... My car drives fine, my car starts fine, everything else sounds normal its just this one noise!!!!!!!!! (I believe I might have been driving my car for a couple of days whilst it was making this noise at the start of last week! It hasn't made any damage yet but just to be sure I will get a mechanic to have a look over once I have solved this!) I am determined to solve this problem before resorting to taking it to a mechanic! I'm being quite stubborn!!
  19. Thanks for your contribution guys! Really has ruled out a lot of possibilities for me! Haven't solved the problem as of yet however if I can't figure it out for myself after another 24 hours I will go take it to a mechanic! Any type of mechanic??? Should I just have it taken to Nissan or does it not really matter??? (I've never taken my skyline to a mechanic, I service mine myself every 5000kms) I really don't want to drive it, my partner can hear the noise coming out of the exhaust as well as the engine! Really worried driving will just make it worse!!!
  20. I can't drive it, well i can, it starts fine, it drives fine but you can hear it..... I think I will just have to take it somewhere.... I'm really worried I'm going to do it more damage by driving it though, I jumped in it a minute ago to take it on a short drive cos its running better today then it was yesterday and driving up the street I could hear it coming from the engine but my partner could also hear it coming from the exhaust....... does that cut down the ideas of what could be causing it??? In neutral its barely making a noise anymore, it still is making a noise but no where near as bad as last night or this morning, but the second I put it in gear becomes loud, through first its not too bad, the second I put it in second or third its way too loud and I think this is it still pinging????? Really have no idea!!!!!!!!!!! Any ides would be really appreciated as I can do lots of different tests here before I resort on taking it to a mechanic!!!
  21. Its most definitely coming from the engine. No smoke coming out of the exhaust. Its not the oil It does rise with the revs It was really bad last night, still there today but not as bad, appears main banging noise is only slightly still there however there are still a lot of unusual sounds coming from my engine. I'm thinking it might be sensors playing up as it is so random and has come out of no where??? It makes the noise in neutral and when driving, higher revs faster the 'noise' becomes. I don't think its pinging anymore, however still sounds very rattly and like I said its making lots of usual noises and the exhaust now has a deeper 'grunt' / 'note' to it which wasn't there before. I really can't explain much more then that as its too difficult to explain. Really need someone to come have a look at it!

I have a 1996 R33 Series 2 GTS-T with fmic, full exhast, k&n pod, turbosmart bov, manual boost controller approx 10psi, also run on 98 octane which was running great until I got in it tonight and revved it to 1grand before releasing my clutch as normal and my car immediately started pinging loudly. It sounds like two metal objects banging together and doesn't stop until idling. Before I continue, my car does suffers from a minor stalling issue where the car drops rev's dramatically when I put my clutch in and either dies or bounces back off 0rpm.... (this is only approx once a week, not a very frequent occurrence, I drive my car approx 75kms a day). My car also has a very low idle approx 600rpm. I have already put octane booster in the fuel in case I had accidentally put in regular fuel however this did not make a difference. I have left my car for 5 hours in a garage (so not exposed to the rain as I has been raining all day) thinking that possibly the pod or anything had gotten wet and caused it??? Hoping the best I start my car up and it immediately started pinning just above idle. That is the story so far, it has had some changes (noises are different and responding differently) but I need someone please who lives south of the river (or north of the river if you don't mind driving) to please come and have a look at it and hear it. I live in Beeliar and most definitely would appreciate it if someone could diagnose the problem without me having to take it to a mechanic!!!! Please help me I am really stumped!!!! -jess

I recently purchased an Apexi AFC Neo and don't quite know who I should go to to get it tuned, (I'm going to install it myself) Can you guys please let me know who you've been to and if you recommend them and What type of power gain you got? My R33 Series 2 GTS-T currently has FMIC, K & N Pod, Turbo Back Exhaust, Boost Controller running 10PSI, It appears to be running really rich! I'm hoping I'll be able to achieve at least 200rwkw on 12psi with the tune, how realistic is this? Oh and does anyone recommend tuning it to 13 or 14psi? Its a stock turbo! Cheers! -jess
