  13. Yes they don't look VERY different. They are however solid and have the settings and the GTR ones are hollow. When your mechanic takes the standard ones out hold them both to notice the difference. However, you can get even more solid/stiffer ones from Japan ...... The settings you should use depend on how you want the car to handle. I had both settings set to hard and the car would understeer to no end. Since then I have softened the front sway bar and without going to the track, it does seem more towards neutral/oversteer. Let me know how you go with the front camber as I will be getting it done soon.
  14. Hi there.... Just going on the original topic for a sec.. I'm probably not one of the "more knowledgeable" ones out there but I found myself in a very similar predicament to you only about 2 months ago. I had a stock system in my 33 GTR and had no idea what to do and went on other peoples recommendations TWICE and ended up with systems I didn't really want TWICE. I went from: 1) stock -> 2) JBL Splits + Fusion amp +Pioneer deck + stacker + Sony subs -> 3) Same splits + same amp + JVC MP3 deck + JL 12W0 sub. Finally I've found what I really want and its just clear punchy bass, really crisp sound quality. So in this sense it sounds like you want something similar.... I decided I didn't want the sub anymore (removal for track days, wanting my boot back) so in the end I have taken out my sub and head unit and I have what I consider "a smaller number of quality parts I can compliment later when budget allows". Now I have the Alpine 9835 I imported from overseas and its an excellent deck. I recommend it highly. And no sub. I gave Marty (FHRX) a call and he came up with the suggestion to overpower the splits and run full range while sound deadening the doors. While this is nowhere near a "complete" system with loud sub-woofer bass. I find it quite clear and the mid-bass is punchy (enough for me). And it fills the front seats perfectly. There's still a few things left to do and I actually would consider more sound deadening but I thought this may be one approach you may consider esp. if you can get some good splits and amp with your deck. But they are the same aren't they Anyway free plug for Marty, if you're in doubt just give him a call. Marty has been more than accomodating for me and has made every effort to answer my (probably stupid) questions as well as let me and a friend listen to his demo car etc.
  15. Yeh it was hehe. But there are so many everywhere..... remember the episode of trying to explain to the guy we wanted to buy tickets to TAS there haha. Anyway back to your topic as I want to know this info too. Might as well add if anyone in Japan knows of any job websites that are the equivalent to www.seek.com.au etc. but that are in eigo so a stupid gaijin like me can understand??
  16. I was tossing up between the OS Giken twin plate or the nismo G-max twin plate for my GTR and decided that due to having to convert the clutch type and also paying the bit more I'd go with the Nismo. I have tried to drive a car with a OS Giken twin (pull type) and the main difference I found was that the OS was a LOT harder to push in. Apart from this the two clutches engaged really quickly when u lift up. I think it's probably the pull mechanism that has something to do with this because I've driven a 33 GTS-T with a Nismo Gmax twin (push type) and although it wasn't as obvious as the OS Giken it was still harder to push in.... I found that after about 2/3 weeks of driving the nismo twin its easy to get used it. It rattles a bit and in fact gets more rattly the more it's driven but it doesn't really bother me..... sometimes I get some weird looks when I'm moving slowly to park the car and its so loud...
  17. Transport would be similar to the way we travelled. Mainly by subway/train. But your rent and transport would relate... rent would drop possibly further away from the city (if you're working there) and transport would increase. And Franky... its AM PM and Lawson.... not 7/11
  18. It costs more at performance shops from shopping around. Coventry Auto parts in Sydney sells it for $90 for about 3.9 ltrs. and $25 a litre after that. Check the redline website for distributors. Dunno about GTS-T. GTR boxes are a touch over 4 ltrs I think.
  19. Fwanky - I bought some redline shockproof lightweight on the weekend. It's going into the car this week. I've got the same issue as you and Duncan - always a bit notchy when its cold and even sometimes when it's warm. I'll let you all know how it is after I put it in. I've got castrol (grade unknown) at the moment. From reports I should expect a good result.
