basically look for any leaks! even engine oil can smell like gearbox oil in the right circumstances.... once u can confirm there is no leaks.. then maybe you should look further. good luck mate.

Same with BP... the pricks.. its annoying when ur on E and u have to drive from one BP to the next.. and they arnt close.. and they all dont ahve the right petrol I rather fill up on sundays now...

smell inside the car is not normal.. maybe you dropped some on ur exhaust? go wash it out at the carwash... with the oil.. give it about 200-300kms. if it is still notchy then there is an additive called Nulon G70 gear treatment... if its compatible with your oil then you can give that a shot. i just did a full service on mine and my gears felt notchy for about 2 days.. so drive gentally.. its now smooth and soft.. i guess it takes a while for the old crap to come off the gears.. hope that helps buddy. i had the same issue and changed my oil.. watever oil u use. just make sure its not to thin. and it will take abit of driving before you can feel the difference.
