pod filter exposed? strap it to the shell of the car with bendable metal or whatever works.....should make it road worthy id be taking it to another mech some are dogs about RWC's others are fair chill as long as you meet main safety requirements

+1 on manual different car all round if you dont know how to drive one then learn, will not regret it in the long run.

I feared of failing for my first time not because of having no licence but the fkn $200 that it costs to use the instructors car and the lesson before, luckily I got hooked up with a good examiner.

they dont usually have to be cased off with a huge heat shield around them, they just need to be physically attached to the cars shell in some way so they are not loose and easy to move around.

willing to spend 500 a night..f**k i dont understand how you are finding it hard when you willing to pay that much for a single night. I was paying 100 per night at USL at Bulla all food included. We booked a 1 week prior as well. Its not school holidays or anything either.
