  3. Thanks guys. Sounds like the PFC is the better bet. I've heard that the PFC boost controller module is not that good however and some people I've seen seem to be using the PFC and a AVCR. Is this just really high end stuff? So the general consensus would be stay on the less push side of 12psi? I don't want to kill the turbo till I get an aftermarket one or upgraded one. Mate i'd be happy to get a intercooler for $150 - Justjap said $650 for GTR cooler and micks metalcraft $1000 for pipes. LOL thats total and utter garbage 'retail' prices but i hope it's not near what I'd be having to pay. Other than getting custom FMIC pipes someone must make knock off cefiro pipes surely. Okay. so PFC + boost controller module is circa $1500 i think. Plus tune.. hmm I'd say that's very much dependant on the availability of a cheap cooler.
  4. Heh heh. That thing is disgusintg.. makes me wanna puke.. sorry. If you're getting an auto get a shitbox to learn to drive. Don't bother getting cars that aren't meant for auto cos you're only spending the extra money for no reason. Almost everyone dings their first car so just get a crappy gemini or corolla and it will cost you little and get you from a - b .. if you stack it into a pole in the car park you won't cry. Then save up to get a better car. My 2c.
  5. Gday, Engine = RB25DET Car = Cefiro Limitations = Stock turbo Considerations = Engine reliability Goal = 200rwkw+. Mod path 1 1. GTR intercooler 2. All air stuff (filter, dump, exhaust etc) 3. Apexi AVCR 4. Apexi SAFC (or SAFC II whatever the different is) Mod path 2 1. GTR intercooler 2. All air stuff (filter, dump, exhaust etc) 3. Apexi PFC (no boost module) 4. two-stage boost controller solonoid thingy (cheapie) This will be street car with occasional track/drift use. I probably won't be upgrading turbos (if at all) for a long time. So the 1st path has the advantage of inital small outlay. On the other hand the 2nd path has flexibility. Which one is better and why/what for? I guess what I wanna know is in the meantime (before getting bigger turbo, injectors etc) can the PFC justify the money in performance? Thanks.

  9. OH MY GOD - you didn't count on these things when you got it? Don't do something you'll regret - and shop around for cheaper compliance or do it yourself if thats whats killing you. Otherwise if you must and do end up selling it in parts I'll buy the cage ... BUT NOOOOOO!!!
  10. Cereal - currently my exhaust is about 2cm thick going to a 2.1cm oval shaped tip. It's made by opel sports.. err i mean the barina is sick. The car I asked was the one on the boat which is straight through. -=> I don't wanna kill trees and kill our planet.. I take long enough showers as is so I wanted to know what the dillyo. Guess I'm gonna have to call justjap every 2 weeks till a kakimoto cat back comes up. Suggest any other places likely to have one?
  11. yeah i hear ya.. i hate that low rpm drone. Funny thing is i have a mate with rb20 straight through .. sounds sweet - quiet as and sounds deep and quiet at low rev, gurgly thick mid and with that little bit of RB raspiness in high.. really nice... I also have a mate with a rb20 with kakimoto cat back (don't know about the front pipe) with cat, resonator and muffler it sounds just as good if not better.. has that nice touch of kakimoto muffler (love that sound).... who knows! I hope kaki's flow well - that's what ima have to pick up methinks.

  14. V opt is the sponsor sticker. Single wiper is illegal as far as I know. Proper conversions I think MAY be ok but may require engineering. I know people who take both off, then put their wiper at a different angle on the stock driver side bolt that turns the wiper. This results in the wiper being in the middle of the passenger side screen most of the time - i think its stupid. I would spend the money on doof doof or power
  15. That's true. Thing is I know someone with a straight through and it wasn't that loud. My 351 straight through wasn't loud either. I'm just worried about the environment and I can take care of my ears.. things is it's not that loud. Anyway - in the end I'd like my car to be totally legal and engineered thats why i asked.. i was kinda hoping not to have a muffler.. I just didn't realise you need resonator as well.. this is getting expensive. Back to hunting for that kakimoto straight thru!!!!

  18. Whats the disadvantage of not having a remote thingy? Does it make it harder? Also got one with braided lines? (Probably don't need it till putting out major power anyway right?)
  19. Gday, Just wondering if in NSW you are required to have a muffler? My import will most likely have a straight through. I will be putting a high flow cat on it but if I don't need a muffler I won't get one. Assuming it's not loud enough to attract attention, and other than noise pollution requirements, is there any legal thing about not having a muffler? EPA or other? Thanks.

  22. In this particular example its a combination of too much boost and low-oc petrol. Thanks for the info guys this helps a great deal !!! Each one of those posts was excellent in helping me understand. Great link too. I realise it's not a disease, I was just wondering if it's worth buyin an engine I know for a fact has been subject to detonating due to overboost and low oc. Thanks! I think I'll skip the tests and just stay clear.

  24. outta interest is that little thing thats already there? is that the resonator? i've seen it on a few cars I've always thought that was the cat.
  25. i've been pondering this recently also. if its straight through cant you just buy a generic high flow like in the for sale section, then just cut the pipe at the place (or disconnect the joins if its got joins there) and put the cat in between em? With clamps off course so you can replace it when it gets smelly. Or have I just missed the point totally?
