  1. Try silicone lube spray on the window rubbers. I usually spray the window and let it go up and down a few times, then wipe it ALL off. (you're only really trying to get it into the rubber). This works assuming your electrics are good enough to power it all in the first place .. gl
  2. r31 bride seat rails, some choco flakes and drink holders.
  3. Ok. My gf's dad's project. 1. Take one 1946 Willys Jeep. 2. Decide it needs a makeover. 3. Buy 1980's Range Rover. Strip it, keep the chassis, drivetrain, gearbox for the Jeep 4. Buy a 350hp+ Buick v6 to scoot it along. So the issues/questions are: The current approach is to take sections of chassis of the range rover that need to be, and weld them into the chassis of the WIllys that way incorporating the strut towers and driveshaft etc while still retaining the strength of both original chassis. WIth this approach the range rover chassis needs 200mm taken out of the middle. The driveshaft needs to be shortened. The strut towers and supporting arms/link brackets etc have to be re-welded. Any engineers care to comment about the approach? Anyone care to comment about legalities? Could I just call an engineer now that all the bits are ready to go? Basically, the owner is waiting to cut stuff so he can get the engineering advice re: strength and legal/engineering issues etc etc. What would be the best thing to do? Pics below. The Jeep (with crap all around it, sorry no better pics) The range rover stripped and waiting to be used The range rover v8 comes out The motor to go in
  4. Welcome to SAU pics pls
  5. Ok I'm there. Thanks Adam and hunglo for thinking of me Is there a category for worst presented? I'll enter my car in it.
  6. Anyway so I don't have a job or time for car related stuff at the moment so project is sloooooow. Should have been long finished by now but what can you do hah. When I have time I will be installing things already purchased for the car. Tried to put in a (semi) proper racing seat today and found out that r32 rails don't fit r31. Some clown told me 3/4 bolts do.... Anyways then I started with the angle grinder. Ended up with this (trial fitted) When I get a chance I'll putty it up and spray the damn thing properly. Also reinforce the thing where the reo was taken out. ... Looks pretty ghetto but I'm hoping along with some fibreglass air deflectors under the hood from the rad it's the low cost cooling mod once I get to the track.
  7. Oops didn't know that was the budget. I want chilli willies!@
  8. Saw some SAU'ers cruisin last night down Victoria Rd. I followed Corinne maybe? DIF 32R?? down Roseville Bridge... couldn't see through the tints if it was you so didn't wave from the powerful holden barina I want my ceffy back....
  9. Saw a honda civic hybrid yesterday with uniformed police officer... and 2 bars of LEDs on the parcel shelf. He was (safely) speeding along just like the normal traffic as well. I reckon maybe police rescue or some other specialist stuff that might stop somewhere where you need red/blues on the back, but not going to try traffic pursuits in the powerful police honda hybrid.. heh
  10. I agree but youch Leichardt = $$$ ... Also on that side of tthe city owning any car that's a potential thief target you would need a garage. NEED. i.e. I think Glebe etc have the highest rate of car theft in NSW, also lots of housing commission.
  11. If you want stuff open Darlinghurst area might be the go. Kinda trendy but also can be ghetto. If you need more info lemme know, also I live about 500m from the cross and I don't think it's so bad, you just gotta choose the right place..... Getting a place with a garage?
  12. Legalities aside I wouldn't take my car out of gear to cruise at 60kmh let alone 100km+ - that's just sketchy.
  13. Sydney drivers are generally shit..- Elderly who should be in the left lane and left alone but end up the the right lane... also all the idiots in the 2 right lanes going 5kmh under the limit and won't move left... the pissheads who swerve around... wannabe gangsters trying to be hard and driving like tools, clueless idiots with no situational awareness and generally other jaded individuals and f**kwits and speeding coppers. MAKES ME WANNA BUY A HELICOPTER!!! I've only had about 5 cases of near-miss-by-idiots in the last few years but this last week I've had about 5, from people changing lanes into me 100kmh+ to idiots in roundabouts trying to go in front of you at full blast when you've already passed them in the roundabout.... terrible :|
  14. Just read the whole thread. D'oh to those who crashed - glad noone was hurt! Looks like fun lol silly autosalon earthlings, heaven forbid you actually use your sports car for what it's for.
  15. <snip> That cars im sure come along way in terms of other parts but that paint job looks a long way from the last SNS carpark O_o Looks great! Good luck (to enjoy) to everyone in it!
  16. Got a question for all you tech heads out there. Does anyone have any pics or diagram of a 1 into twin pipe setup? I've got the pipe and want to fab but unsure of how to get 1 pipe into twin pipes.. they are all the same diameters. I've sat with a bit of plastic pipe to try to get the angles but I can't seem to do it! :\
  17. RainX owns for rain/snow/foggy conditions when you need to see 100%%%. 60km/h+ with rain and don't even need the wipers. For actual random bug stuff (i.e. if you're in the country) the turtle wax/castrol additive/bug off etc etc is all the same. Personally next time I remember to buy additive it'll be RainX for daily duty I also think you can't underestimate how much difference the actual wiper blades make so keep em clean and fresh O_o
  18. What you're describing is technique improvement opportunity Try lifting off, downshift rev match prior to corner, use brake earlier, or any and all of those combinations and try braking at a different time in relation to where you're pointing the car. Also be more precise with the brakes so you don't lock up the front wheels. If you already know that and are pushing your car 9/10's on a track then fair enough get better tyres and suspension to stop dive and help pull the car up
  19. Not trying to put down your testing, but if you just had 2 radiator/thermo combinations then it's like lisa simpson's tiger rock theory to me I'd go with a twin thermo setup with a shroud. Typically on a rectangular shaped radiator you'll typically cover more surface area, therefor pulling more air through the rad. There's also the benefit that if one fails you can still get home. I think a lot of performance type cars have 2 due to these reasons. If you have a drag car or something, want to save the weight and have a square radiator then maybe... .... ... but agree probably makes no difference 9/10 edit: What Roy said as well x2, I'm going to be using really thin fibreglass.
  20. What do you base that on? Or are you joking??
  21. I'd be thinking the sensor should be before the coolant goes into the engine block. This way you know the effect of the radiators effectiveness. It's reasonable to expect that the coolant exiting the engine should experience a drop with a lower temp coolant going in, but that may not always be the case.. Also, I'd always run a fan with a shroud, infact 2 of them. When I had my cef it had 2 thermos with a ford EL(or EF) shroud.. when the second fan was turned on cruising temps were down 5-10 degrees on the street. Track wise it just meant when the temps got up to 90 from hard use they stayed there and didn't budge up. I didn't realise the stock radiator had that much trouble at that power levels.. anyway??
  22. If you get a rag and hold it against the tailpipe you should be able to hear and feel the pressure. If you hear it leaking somewhere else then exhaust leak. I'd also check the exhaust manifold for a failing gasket. Finally, your cat could berooted or non existent and or you're picking up all the nice sulfides/sulfates(?) in the petrol (eggy smell?).
  23. Nic. I'm gonna guess that your locked/shimmed diff isn't going to help. I'd also put an aftermarket sway bar on the front...
