  1. No they are the original lifters for that head and rb20 red top cams, I have no rattles, they exact opposite the lifters do more than taking up the lash between lifters and cams they over do it an start opening valves when they should be shut
  2. hey all so ive built an rb30de ( will turbo it later but for rwc no turbo cos its in a aus r31) the build consists of. -r33 rb25det vct head with non vct cams. -rb20det red top cams. -standard rb30 bottom end. -rb25det oil pump. -series 2 ecu/coil packs and loom. my first problem was a rattle in the top end at around 3500-4000rpm, and a missfire that would only occur when the motor was cold and the motor was given a little rev it would drop a cylinder and pick it back up when the motor had a bit of heat in it, so i pulled out the lifters and pulled them apart and cleaned and primed them and got rid of the vct cams because thats where the rattle was coming from, fixed that rattle but its now an absolute nighmare to start from cold, what seems to be happening is that the exhaust side lifters are pumping up on cold start and holding the valves open a touch, it starts up perfect but a few seconds after it starts when it gains full oil pressure its dies and when cranking to start it up again it sounds like only half the cylinders have compression. the only way to get it going is and soon as the motor fired bring the revs up to about 3.5k (the combustion pressures must be enough to keep the valves from opening) till it has warmed the oil a bit and then it runs absolutely perfect, no issues whatsoever. Im starting to run out of ideas as to what could be wrong with the damn thing so if anyone has any ideas id really appreciate it!
  3. price drop 8k, common guys this has all the hard work done! also forgot to mention hicas had been removed by reolacing the rear subframe with an s13 item and all lines have been removed, it also has a C's short shift kit.
  4. Hey all I have decided to sell my Cefiro, I am in need of a 4wd and it has to got to make room for it Here are the specs/mods. Year: 1988 factory manual Km: 155,000 Motor: R32 rb20det silvertop Engine mods: Impul ecu, Rb25det NEO turbo running 12psi, east bear intercooler piping with r32 gt-r cooler, catch can full exhaust with 3" cat not bashed out strait through no mufflers (will sell car with road worthy friendly muffler, bosch 040 intank pump, pod filter with 2.5" intake pipe. Diff: nismo GT lsd 2-way. Gearbox: R32 rb20 box, with nismo HD clutch. Suspension: Cusco Zero 2R coilovers (no leaks) front spats strut brace, rear cusco strut brace, front and rear whiteline andjustable swaybars, front kazama castor rods, generic rear camber and toe rods, JIC rear castor rods, Drift shop subframe aluminium cradle bushes, Project MU rear brake shoes, has solid steering shaft bush. Wheels: Volk racing "EMU" mesh wheels 17*8 & 17*9 with nice offset. Interior: ok condition, door trims have a few splits in the covering, seats are the stock rears with R32 gts-t fronts carpet is in reasonable condition, dash is reaonable but has lifted slightly around the gauge cluster. all electrics work, has a missing air con vent surround, no air-con but can supply all parts minus compressor, has 4 autometer gauges mounted in the passenger side dash section above the glovebox (boost, oil pressure, oil temp and air/fuel ratio) Auto lights work fine. boot has no carpet or side coverings. exterior, paint would come up ok with a polish, has no missing/lifted clear coat, car is dark blue, boot (rough pressure pack job) is black, bonnet and front bar are black, you hardly pick they are black unless you are told because it is such a dark blue. Has series 2 front lights. I have had this car as my daily driver for the last 2 years and has given me very little trouble, then engine is very healthy and uses no oil and gets me around 500km per tank on highway, I am fairly keen to sell asap as the ute I am planning to buy wont last long before it sells, So basicly its a fairly well set up car for somone wanting to drift or just have a fun/quick streeter, has had oil and filter changes every 5,000km with castrol edge 5w-30w. Car comes with 10 months of VIC rego and i will supply a handfull of spares, (controll arms mainly and a few other odds and ends) Will also swap car for a 4wd Ute depending on what it is, after around 9K ono and will gets pics up as soon as i get a chance. located in Mildura, VIC msg or call me with any questions on 0448009961 Cheers Ryan

  7. hey guys have just finished doing a neo conversion on an r31 passage. all I have left is to wire up the tacho, apparently the r33 way of wiring it up doesnt work so just wondering if anyone has any definate ways of wiring it up?? cheers Ryan
  8. nah it will stop while changing gears and it happens regardless of acceleration, backing off or cruising constant..
  9. hey all I have a bit of a serious knocking sound coming from the drivline of my cefiro. it started after dropping 2nd gear and then missing third and droping it in hard when i found it, at first i thought i was the gearbox as it had been making a bit more noise than usual, so i swapped the gearbox for a known good one and when i took it for a drive the noise was still there. Im fairly sure it isnt the motor because it can be revved as hard as you like and makes no unusual sounds if i have the clutch in or have it in neutral. so im thinking is could be the tailshaft or the diff although it sounds like its coming from the middle of the car. I also didnt take the clutch apart when I had the box out. I wont make the sound the clutch is in so it is probably on happens when there is load on it. any help appreciated cheers Ryan
  10. yep they are the same, you will just have to change over to the s13 3*2 bolt half shafts as r32 use 5 single bolt style or use r32 drive shafts.

  12. Car- 88 a31 engine- r32 rb20det power- 170rwkw @11psi falling down to 9.5 by redline. mods- 3" turbo back zorst no mufflers or cat, HKS mushroom filter, gtr fmic & impul chipped ecu, suspicions on the possibility of cams due to the very stong top end power. and high power figure.

I think high possiblity of loom damage at the ecu end...as whoever tried to steal ure car were probably pissed off that they could make your car go they probably pulled the ecu out without undoing the bolt in the middle of the plug and has resulted in a bad connection in the loom. just go through all the wires on the ecu plug and check that they are all intact and the the sockets inside the plug are plushed in all the way... did you replace the ignition barrel?? maybe that is cutting the ignition randomly?
  14. one of my mates had this problem when he put an aftermrket temp gauge in his car...it always read way to hot, he had to get a different temp sender because the factory one had to much resistance and thus read high..
  15. very much doubt it, the centre bearing brackets arnt the same for starters and more than likely the hr31 will be shorter due to the long nose r200.
  16. hey all just in the process of getting an engineers certificate on my cefiro, it was imported as a pre 89 import and is an 88" model, just wondering if the brake lines needs to be changed as my engineer is unsure himself.... cheers Ryan
  17. 1988 cefiro silvertop RB20DET 5sp -internally stock. -stock turbo @ 12psi. -gt-r fmic. -gt-r fuel pump. -turbo back 3'' exhaust, no mufflers no cat. -impul remaped stock ecu. 168rwkw.
