  1. lol, yes I can take a GT3 up the inside into the bus stop but on the way to blanchimont they were blowing past 2 at a time! it did take me a couple sessions before I realised I was about 50km/h too slow through blanchimont and that it's actually pretty much flat even in the exige. fking great corner. the whole track took me a bit of recalibration as it's just so fast everywhere. very easy on brakes as you practically don't need them except at the bus stop and la source. my kind of track. god I want to go back to spa. let's do it soon bris. I'm ready for europeans to try and separate me from my dough again. fkers. asking vettel to make a pass without some contact might be wishful thinking though.
  2. lol, I especially like to say les fagnes and pouhon. they remind me of you and jas25t... hehe.
  3. lol, leave the polish alone brisby. we don't have much to cheer about! yeah DRS at the exit of radillion will mean some nice overtaking into les combes... not sure it matters having the DRS detection before eau rouge as they are flat from la source all the way to eau rouge, up the hill and out the other side at radillon and all the way to les combes. so no one is passing anyone into eau rogue or through eau rogue for that matter unless we are talking RBR on a 2002 minardi...
  4. that is awesome mate. the car sounds very crisp and is certainly putting out every one of the claimed 700+hp at the wheels! it's a credit to you and the guys that helped with the build and tune. it really runs sweetly. great effort on driving it too. big power GTRs are not as simple to drive as people like to think. I really do hope you get that 9 second slip on the AD08s.
  5. lol, yeah I'm up to 99 now. just watched the first half of round 8, silverstone last night. schuey had a big smash on lap 1 (at stowe I think?) and looks to have broken his legs. not nice.
  6. oh and yes I would think godzilla and RIPS would have to be the 2 guys taking standard cranks the furthest in these parts. they have each done 1000hp+ but of course they are not just bought off the shelf and dropped in, they are prepared/balanced to suit.
  7. I'm sorry but 'nissan's own info' my hairy butt. that is an american re-seller website flogging nissan parts. not a nissan website offering information on parts. big difference. they are also selling N1 rods, maybe buy some to go with the N1 crank. I'm sorry but given their limited dealings with RBs in general I wouldn't trust them to tell me the difference between an RB25 crank and an RB26 crank. There are people here who would have personally owned more GTRs than all those in north america put together. no you're right not all engines paul 'builds' stay in NSW but i still think most people would have heard of the 1350hp engine or this almost motorbike like 11,000rpm engine he built... honestly I'm more impressed that there's 2 now and I am genuinely interested to see them that's all. I love a big power RB as much as the next bloke. I'd love to see some vids of one running at 11,000rpm.
  8. yep, most likely need to get both mating surfaces machined flat. then repalce studs with new ones and use the crushlock nuts, or nuts with some other type of locking system. most likely it's either vibration loosening the nuts slightly (gasket blows out) or surfaces not 100% flat (again, gasket blows out). 26psi is good boost but there are plenty of cars I know running 30psi and more without these problems. welding the turbine to the manifold might solve it but it might warp it a bit then it'll blow out the side instead of the front!
  9. this might seem obvious but have you considered that the problem is the new plenum and intercooler? car was running fine before them. you may also have an injector problem as well but generally when stuff goes wrong you need to go back to what you changed last. in this case plenum and cooler.
  10. has he really? he's built an RB26 running 1350hp on the stock crank revving to 11,000rpm. i'd love to hear what car it's in. i've never seen or heard of it. not that i've seen or heard of every car ever made but the ones making 1350hp that are built in my own state by someone I know tend to stick out... BTW there is no such thing as an N1 crank.... N1 engines use the same crank as all RB26s do. there are only really 2 types of crank. early model R32 (short oil pump drive) and then every thing else (late R32, all R33, all R34, N1, Nur etc) which has the larger oil pump drive. but apart from that small difference even the two types are the same.
  11. I'm pretty sure the exhaust you have is 32 GTR but I can check later as I have a few similar ones around for 32 GTR. they are all slightly different. sometimes it's not easy to tell visually from pics as hangers that look completely different may actually end up in the same spot if you know what I mean. if you want to flog the one you have let me know, I had that same teardrop one on an R32 and quite like it. looking for another one.
  12. yeah, ok that casing is completely different. definitely aftermarket of some kind then. jsut look at pics of casings till you find one with those little bands on it. that should at least identify the brand, then you just need to get a good look at the traction ramps to find out of it's 1 way/1.5way/2way etc.
  13. cool story snowman. lol. seriously though good idea to post a thread on the mighty targa build. bummer it has a noise though. hope that gets sorted fast. I'm looking forward to see what you think about tyres etc. I really noticed the gearing difference too when watching in-car of handbrakes 35 at EC vs my own experience there. with his 18s it was almost perfectly geared for the track (would be the same at PI I reckon as they are both fairly similar overall).
  14. nice one! your unholy longtail love just killed the thread! you bastard!
  15. lol, it's full of holes. simple fact is you cannot import an R35 for road use and comply it under SEVS any more. technically you could IF you could find a brand new 2008 model somewhere in japan (note would have to be a nissan dealer, would have to have less than 150kms on it and have to not have been sold to anyone ie you are the first owner). then you have to make sure the people in aus still want to comply them (and be prepared to pay $20K for compliance). in the real world it can't happen. most likely these are old 08 models imported when it was possible, or they were/are personal imports. i'm guessing they are 08 models and the ads are just purposely misleading to generate interest.
  16. well to be fair even the japs only do them properly about half the time. i've also seen some jap brand exhausts with v-band that were the usual crappy type.
  17. cool, what sump adapter did you go with? mmm, yes I like the jun crank. I have one in my car at the moment. the jun 2.7 crank but running tomei rods and pistons. it's surprisingly different to the other 26s i've had. maybe I need a spare? lol.
  18. great incar mate, good driving. nice gear selection and some good lines. car looks very nice through T1 for a car with fairly minimal aero and set-up time at the track. very impressed.
  19. cool, glad to see progress. great choice of donk. I know a few people who've used the late model FWD GTV6 engines into the 80s GTV RWD chassis. they are a sweet engine (such a shame they come in big FWD posers cars). beautiful sound and lovely engineering in them. it's amazing how unloved and cheap the FWD GTV6s are. they were an expensive car, now you can buy a 2000 model for about $10K!! a decent 80s GTV6 costs that much (well more actually for a really neat one). should just buy a smashed 2000 model GTV6 and then try and rip off the brakes, nice leather seats etc and stick it all in a 80s GTV for a nice street car.
  20. great vids. it's kind of hard to see but is there a cage in the front of it? bit scary if not!! either way, it puts on some good pace for a lil NA 2L 6. and some nice driving too.
  21. yep, you're right dave. S3 boxes have double synchros on 2/3. the AGY kit adds it to 1st, 4th and 5th as well. Mark, my AGY box was bought from...... AGY. long time ago. maybe 2004.
  22. I think it might be a stock GTR diff (which are 2 way). the diff ratio on it is 4.111:1, get some better pics. it's impossible to tell what it is as we can only see part of the ramps.
  23. 75 coupe, some really old HKS coolers had -12 lines but it's pretty uncommon. either way it's a piece of piss to fit. you just need to get the -12 hose ends (if it really is -12) and make sure they come with the right thread to fit into the -10 greddy filter mount. or if you have the hose ends already with the HKS stuff just find a -10/-10 adapter. but there will be fittings that screw into the greddy plate allowing you to fit -12 lines to it for sure. but check it actually is -12 first as it's pretty unlikely.
  24. for a street car a single nismo in-tank will support 600hp (enough fuel for 700cc injectors). You don't need a surge tank to make that power. however if you are going to take this car to the circuit a surge tank is a good idea. simply because it'll mean you can enjoy your car on the track right down to an empty tank. without one you will get fuel surge at anywhere from half tank to 1/4 tank. but if you are just going to the track for fun (ie not competitive) then the simply solution is just keep it over 1/2 tank for each session and you'll be fine. if you do just get the nismo intank i'd also upgrade the wiring with a direct power feed from the battery (through a relay). tomei (and I think sard too) even sell kits to do it for about $100 if you are not electrically minded.
