  1. am I a prohpet or what? I think I was the only bloke who tipped a top 3 without vettel in it? and I actually had webber to win, and alonso and hamilton 2nd and 3rd which for half the race looked like coming good. and I had vettel with fastest lap which was also coming good until the second last fking lap when hammo took it. bastard.
  2. lol, I think about all 3 of you when I'm in bed. on a serious note, how tall are you Dane? we both have a small advantage in that we have long put ourselves in spaces where we shouldn't fit having been japanese car fans for years. most people would tell you that you can't drive a 180 or that I can't drive a S13 but I manage. in fact my S13 still has the same seat in it that Cat Coleiro used when she owned it and you know how tiny she is next to me. As far as the exige goes I was fine in it. It was a bit "intimate" when both troy and I were in at the same time, and I wouldn't want to have to get out of it if the thing was on fire but once inside I was happy. headroom surprisingly not an issue. knee room would be my only concern for you. I haven't been in a caterham but if I can drive ruseel ingalls old formula ford (I can and have) I reckon I can drive some pommy lotus 7 copy no trouble. or we can do it brisby style and buy a car? I could be easily talked into an E36 M3 purchase (cheap as dirt) and do Spa, Ring and maybe silverstone or zandvoort too?
  3. currently you can get a set of tomei GTR rods for $1000 which is a steal. I would buy them even at $1500. hell they used to be $2K. that includes bolts of course too. with tomei rods so cheap I have no idea why people use anything else and I certainly wouldn't re-use standard rods in a build with a $$$ crank and pistons. I think my current favourite kit would be exactly this kit, with either the full HKS kit (with rods) or by getting the 'rod-less' kit and using the beautiful tomei rods. if I didn't have a similar set-up already (Jun 2.7 crank, tomei rods and tomei pistons) I would consider it for sure.
  4. 26psi is fine mate. that's a man's boost level. you know my feeling. anything under 1.5bar is for women and children only.
  5. nismoid, they are tested at 3bar as all modern EFI systems are a 3 bar system. ie base pressure of 3bar (2.5bar with engine running). that is factory pressure. I don't run increased pressure on my cars. why on earth would you? 72psi base pressure is nuts. I run standard 3bar base ( which = 36psi at idle). add say 20psi boost and I still only get to 60psi or so at max boost. most pumps are quoted/rated at 3bar. it's an industry standard. the other question is voltage. vary voltage up and down and figures go all over the place. same with pressure. if anything the nismo rating is conservative compared to other pump ratings and in my experience they will outflow an 044 by miles. and they most certainly do not flow the same as a stock GTR pump.....
  6. yeah I see your logic. I guess for a 3L that's already going to achieve the power and response you want with a more basic TS turbo then sure there is not a huge advantage in the EFR, but you can have your power goal and even better response wouldn't you want it? in a street car it will be noticeably faster? the other option these give then is have the same response but more power by going up a size in turbo. I still think the kick arse GTR set-up will be these twin 6258s. but the singles make an impressive set-up and simplicity of a single (even a twin gate TS one) is something to consider too.
  7. my advice would be not to run it with standard rods. if I was buying one, I'd buy the kit without rods and then buy a set of tomei rods to go in it. the current generation tomei rods are very nice, have some clever design features and are very reasonably on price. for under $5K you'd have the step 0 crank and pistons and the tomei rods which would be the base for a very stout 2.8.... I would have no hesitation running it to 8,500 or even 9,000 providing you've got at the minimum upgraded valve springs and preferably retainers and of course a well built engine. would be a great street car with GTSS or a great track car with 2530s....
  8. sorry guys, N1 nur engine is sold. still have standard R33 GTR engine complete from rocker covers to sump. had it comp tested and 160psi (give or take 2psi) in all 6 cylinders. fatz, you want suction kit? i've got a spare one. in fact i've got trust kit to suit standard and nismo afms and the trust kit to fit Z32 afms... which you want? also got Trust 100mm GTR drag/circuit cooler. nice piece.
  9. I can tell you about that engine. I bought and installed that into the car. I can assure you it's 100% genuine R34 N1 Nur engine. I purcahsed it brand new from nissan in japan. had it fitted to the R32. and then imported it. I sold the car to aaron a couple of years ago and he's been a very fastidious owner ever since. I don't know what he's asking for it but I know what it cost. if it's anything around $5K it's a steal. it's very low km and will handle plenty of power.
  10. yeah there is no nismo airbbox. the nismo piping does not include the piping between the airbox and the turbo inlets. it's just the piping from the turbo outlets to the intercooler. it still retains the standard piping between airbox and turbos hence the airbox fits. the piping above is teh HKS kit which also replaces the piping between turbo outlets and intercooler but it also replaces the piping between the afms and the turbo inlets. for this reason it won't work with the factory airbox. your only viable option is have a box made around the pods out of carbon or alloy.
  11. thanks for the explanation martin. that makes perfect sense to me because my biggest feeling was they were moving around a lot on the sidewalls which was overheating the tyres and also causing some slip too at the limit. with them stretched out a bit which would stiffen them up a lot I can see they would be much better. that certainly is the problem, too soft sidewall. I was miles quicker on track on stock dunlops (and the bridgies too for that matter) than I was on 19inch R888s. but your method definitely has some logic behind it.
  12. GO CADEL EVANS... oh, wrong thread.
  13. yeah it was interesting. I was watching the live timing and hamilton had S1 sorted and was consistently 1 or 2 tenths quicker than webber in S1, in S2 webber was the man and usually 3-5tenths up on hamilton. in S3 they were close with them usually even or a 10th or 2 either way. alonso was just quick in all 3 sectors but not outright as quick as either hamilton or webs in any of the 3.
  14. nice prediction. who else thought with the way things were going RBR needed to put webber on hards at the second stop? that would have meant him 2 stop vs the otehrs on 3 stop. in the end the hards didn't seem any slower and even if they were a touch slower he would have had track position and gained the 20secs from doing 1 less stop... the real killer though was webbers stop being 1 second longer than anyone elses in the 2nd stops. that sent him from 1st with a lead of 1second, down to 3rd.... nasty. shame considering he'd driven well.
  15. ok, that is an awesome package. yeasrs ago when I looked at the 4 corners package it was the reverse. brabham etc thu/fri then clark or waite (ie the worst stands) for race day. but this way is cool as you get to try some different positions and I assume it's cheaper than a 4 day brabham ticket?
  16. Best stand by far in Melbourne is brabham or jones. 4 corners is ok but you get stiffed on race day. Personally of the two I like brabham best. Inside of t1. GO WEBBER!!!!!
  17. Yep specs are there. Running the CDI too which makes a difference.
  18. totenkopf. it's a 1.05 twin scroll (ext gate). yeah we ordered last year too. I know BW have had production issues and I guess want to make things right before filling orders. hopefully they are worth the wait (I think they will be). hope you get yours soon mate.
  19. nooo what happened bris? no wonder you went quiet. how'd it break already? fkers. go back and chin the bastard!
  20. well talk to me phunky. I'm keen to go back and if I miss doing it with bris again I'm always happy to replace him for a new team mate. the only thing is you might have trouble squeezing into an exige but there is plenty of other good gear out there to drive!
  21. They are getting out. I'm a pleb and the 6258 GTR kit we bought off the shelf. no special favours etc. ordered and paid for it and it turned up a week later. I know the big frame stuff is a different story but they are getting there.
  22. noice dru! carbon really never looses it's appeal does it? awesome.
  23. I reckon they would void warranty if the damage was caused by the anti-lag. I don't think any turbo manufacturer would warranty a turbo for use with anti-lag as there is no doubt it's a destructive force on turbines and manifolds. it's proven to reduce component life. manifold pressure and temp skyrockets as does turbine temp. still plenty of people run it with other turbos and just replace them more often...
  24. don't worry he'll get to it. perhaps if you want it fast, paypall him $100 for his time! I would.
  25. seriously scott. what the hell? You say you're not being insulting but you made remarks such as "Fact is, 6b are hand made and FR are machine made" which is clearly not true, you referenced a 'rice burner US forum' whatever the hell that is, you told TheKeeper to "Go sell something man". I would think all of those comments were insulting to a degree. All TheKeeper was doing was correcting something which you 'stated as fact' despite having never owned either manifold. have you even seen either in the flesh? I'm also not sure what on earth lead time has to do with anything? I would rather be able to order and receive something straight away rather than wait 4 weeks? it doesn't change how the product is made. It just means FR can afford to manufacture items for stock where as 6boost just make to fill orders. I am still baffled as to how that's a measure of quality? TheKeeper's only somewhat personal remark was that you didn't know what you're talking about. since you stated something as fact which was wrong and also stated you have never owned either manifold I don't think that was too unfair. The fact that FR manifold runners are robotic tig welded is an advantage. anyone who thinks a hand welded runner is better needs to go back to welding school. I also can't see how they could weld the collectors anyway other than by hand. it's the straight welds around the runners that are robotically welded and I had no trouble understanding that the first time I read it on their site. Anyway, perhaps just try and be a touch respectful of other people? insulting the US car scene (which is far larger and more diverse than our own...) is not the way to get a point across. I'll also give my own opinion on the manifolds. and yes I have owned both and also physically examined a number of each of the current ones I would say the finishing on the Full race stuff is as good as 6boost or better. they both use different materials so it's hard to directly compare and as I also stated before I'd happily use either and have happily recommended both in the past. 6boost has not been completely free of fitting or finishing issues though either but like all good manufacturers Kyle works hard to fix them. I recently got 3 manifolds (1 6 cyl TS mani and 1 pair of 3cyl manis for a 6cyl engine) all 3 needed no additional finishing anywhere in the collectors etc. Anyway, this thread is not about Full Race manifolds and it's most certainly not about Full Race Manifolds Vs 6Boost manifolds. Plus I think we all agree they are both fantastic products. so let's stop arguing. borg warner and full race's input into threads like this is highly valued just as any manufacturers input is valued. We certainly don't expect users to censor their opinions because of their presence but we do expect people to be respectful and courteous. so bear that in mind please. I don't expect anyone to have to suffer discourtesy on our forum and TheKeeper has 100% kept to the rules and has not plugged his products or solicited sales. Let's continue talking about something interesting.....
