  1. I also can't believe the fia are f**king with the rules in the middle of a season. All teams new the rules and built the best car they could within those rules. Changing the rules and enforcing that change mid season is unfair and anti competitive. If they think there's a problem by all means announce a rule change now but to be implemented next season so that everyone can design their new car with that in mind.
  2. Yep. I couldn't believe it. BBC are showing incar of the pole lap which also happens to be an Australian and faking one cut it short to squeeze in a few extra ads. Nice.
  3. I visited Johnny last month and won a bet. Johnny bet I could have a steer if I could get n and out of the zed cleanly. Much to his disappointment I fit in there nice and snug. It's a nice cockpit. Looking forward to a test drive soon! Car is looking very serious now. It should be well up the point end.
  4. I would leave them stock or just go straight to aluminum ones which look and work better.I
  5. Yeah they are good. Being a "c" means it has the larger diameter plates so its power rating will be higher than the b type os twins. Os make great clutches. I've personally owned probably 5 or 6 in various cars all twins or triples and whilst they can be noisy and sometimes a bit grabby they are super reliable and in my experience their power ratings are fairly conservative. So if you'll have 500hp(or did you mean kw?) at the wheels then a 600ps rated os giken should be fine. Personally though if it were my car with a genuine 500hp atw and it was going to be track driven I'd consider a triple as with more surface area they deal with the power and heat really well and hardly wear at all if driven properly. But if you already have the twin and it's in good shape just use that.
  6. Up to you. They are a good tool but you need to understand how to interpret the readings for it to be really usefull. Otherwise it'll just cause worry over potentially nothing. It sounds like the tune may need some work. Once it's sorted there's no real need to watch the afr all the time.
  7. Noel, they have some grphs etc from the 34 GTR with the twins. Not sure if they've been posted anywhere but I've seen them. Might check with full race if they want them posted. I think they were only preliminary testing type results from memory.
  8. Lol. Make it XL. we are just excited to try them too. The car is a pretty well sorted setup so we're hoping for good results.
  9. His car has the basc 70mm ARC GTR intercooler. They're a good bit of gear. Light, good flow and good cooling. They are actually lighter than a stock GTR intercooler!
  10. Firstly forget about reading your afrgauge. It only reads one point of afr. On the gauge 14:1 is the min it reads and 15:1 is the max. So any far out of that range (which it will be most of the time) is not shown. It should of course be showing "rich" just about any time you so much as touch e throttle as all that means is it's richer than 14:1. And of course it goes lean when you're off the throttle. They are useless. You may as well pay a psychic gypsy to predict your afr for you as reading a gauge hooked up to the factory narrowband sensor. It's only purpose is form the ecu to read it and target a stoich afr under light throttle low rpm cruise conditions. And that's all it should be used for. Using it as a gauge input is a waste of time. It's just confusing things. Get the tune checked on the dynon and they'll check the afr with a proper wideband meter and the can plot it against the graph.
  11. Sorry but astina's a far from a sports car and far from good handling cars. Yes plenty have had bp turbo converione and the engine fits cause it's from the same platform not because the astina is some kind of secret sports car but they removed the turbo engine. Writing off fwd sports cars means you are limiting yourself. There are some great ones. Try any well set up civic. Try even a bone stock EP3 civic type R or the old DC2R integra. Try a vw scirocco gt or R. They are great cars. Try a Renault R26R. There's heaps of good ones. I've personally owned about 20 cars including every model GTR from 32 to 35 and I love my RWD. I've owned a beautiful FD Rx7 RZ with built motor etc and it's one of the best balanced cars I've driven. I still own a heavily modified S13 with 240rwkw and all the gear but neither of them make me enjoy punting a mates EP3 type R any less. Yes they are very different cars but they all have good points and being fwd doesnt neccissrily make them understeery or any less fun than a decent rwd. My advice, keep your mind open and try as many different carsand types of cars as you can. You might be surprised.
  12. nice. do I get some kind of plaque? or maybe signed turbos? just kidding. we looking forward to getting them here.
  13. The 9180 is Twin Scroll twin gate on a Full Race Manifold. The 8374 is also twin scroll, twin gate. The 6258s are both internal gate. and I have no info on the manifolds for them other than they are Full Race (and thus I trust they will be well designed and manufactured), they are T25 flanged and the turbos are internal gate. exhaust set-up on the 9180 is very much high flow. nice tapered dump that expands out from the turbo outlet to about 4inch diameter and nothing really in the way of restriction etc. the 6258 is a pure track car. dyno graphs will be up to the car owner but I don't see there being a problem sharing.
  14. yeah I like scottys idea with the spring on a bracket. simple and should work very well. easy to get different rate springs to suit different needs. good one.
  15. I've got a personal import legacy GT too with some nice tasteful bits. it's an 04 and has the 200kw donk (like our old 2L wrx STI's had) not the little 180kw odd jigger we got here. my parents have the legacy now. cool car, has a nice fujitsubo exhaust. funny to see my oldies driving it!
  16. thanks for the reply martin. yeah I thought 290awkw was about the benchmark for an average stock R35. it's amazing to think how much performance they get out of 'just' 290awkw. When I first drove one hard, and then dyno'd it I was amazed to think just how fast they are with a relatively small peak power figure. just goes to show a cars performance is a lot more than a peak kw figure. R35s are a great example of that. especially given their weight.
  17. thanks woo. spoke to him wednesday. and today. might have a task for you.
  18. well webber's had 4 podiums this year in 8 races. and took 4 wins and 4 second places last year (and 2 X 3rds). he is due a win I reckon. give the man a break.
  19. looks ok to me. should be very low drag but still generate good downforce. it's a race car afterall. I'd have one.
  20. bummer harry. it certainly was trying hard to kill you once the wing was off! no more understeer just replaced it with massive oversteer. i would have thought adding the rear bar would have helped cure the understeer but it must be something else. maybe try some new alingment settings? hope it all gets fixed easily.
  21. nice one mate. the car was already off the planet when we bought it but now it's taken another step. don't agree. 18inch LMs or TEs are the perfect size on a 34. 19 just for the autosalon crown. 18 is tough and practical. I do agree on the paint. it's my favourite R34 colour (my last R34 GTR was the same colour). much better than the lighter "ztune" shade if you ask me. and suits the z-tune panels nicely. I think it's the front guards that really make the car. you could do it without the bonnet or even without the front bar, but take away the guards and it would not look nearly as tough. love it mate. bet you're glad you kept the wing mounts now? they really suit it with the craftsquare mirrors and the more aggresive body work.
  22. don't worry I'll keep you informed.
