just taken this car to it's first and last track day and ran a 1:12 at wakefield park on it's dunlop Z1* street tyres. bloody fast considering my somewhat limited driving skills and the fact I haven't driven at Wakefield in a couple of years. this is the perfect, fun, weekend, trackday type car. it was effortless. I just drove it to the track, did some easy laps and drove it home. no problems at all. that's the way it should be. the Close Ratio box is awesome on the circuit. around wakefield I'm 90% in 4th and 5th gear! with the odd bit of 3rd like at the fish hook. I really need to sell so anyone interested come and check it out. it's amazing how many people have told me they were interested and then never shown up. if you are interested, come and see the car and talk the sphincter of the universe! I don't bite.

well in my RS is mech clutch plate for the center LSD, just like the front and rear. not sure what the stock VI has. probably open diff? all I can say is if I can pilot that car to a 1:12 at wakefield (bear in mind street tyres, 200kw and small brakes), then it's a fking weapon of a car. cause it sure as hell isn't the driver... I can't drive a greasy stick up a dogs arse. -
yeah I miss V10s too. having been lucky enough to witness them in person and comparing that to the V8 races I've been to, it's just not the same. the current v8s are still great pieces of gear though. but not quite v10 awesomeness.

well he can ride bicycles very well. he's an original bmx bandit. lol. andrew you should drive it mate. don't let luke have all the fun... -
so cool. they are a lot of race car for that money. I'm a bit surprised that it seems to have an H pattern box in it. I would have thought it would have a seqential. also the 'look through corners' sticker on the wheel tells me it may have been a drive day car or with a pretty amateur driver. that is track day lesson 1, day 1. still it's a shitload of car for a pocket full of cash. I say do it! it's worth it for the sound alone...

Couple Race Car Build Questions
Beer Baron replied to Super_Dude's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
if you really want to change subframes I would go to R33 or R34 subframes. as far as dash goes speed signal comes out of the dash to the ecu so you'll need to replicate that speed signal. the other things that come to mind at the AWD light, also hicas light (which also displays low PS fluid warning). they are all easily overcome though. -

buy my emo 6 RS. has the CR box (which is awesome for circuit/tarmac etc), has upgraded LSDs front, rear and centre. no gAYC or ACD, strong 200kw, ohlins suspension, TE37s etc. nice and straight and full registered. I'm getting keen to sell too so will move off my high horse! I took it out to wakefield the other day and even on street tyres (dunlop Z1*) I managed a 1:12 which is bloody hauling considering I'm pretty shit behind the wheel. no ABS though I think (not that I've had any bad lock-ups, would be nice for tarmac though). they are farking quick and with all the LSds the thing is still a bit hairy and fun to drive. it does have way more grip that it deserves though! -
anyone else marvel at the pit stops? most pit stops in a F1 race ever at 80! pretty crazy. and did you guys notice the marbels!! my god man. at the end of the race there was a thick black carpet of them all over the track. webbo did a great job to hold 2nd in an 'interesting' race. everything saying vettel has it in the bag I think is jumping the gun a bit. we are only at race 4 out of 20 races.... long way to go yet. as far as the front wing goes I would say if the new wing was any better than the one it replaced they would have snatched webbers up for vettel in a heart beat. I think they let webber keep it as it offered no real advantage. it's a bit sad to see schumacher like this. I had very mixed feelings about his return and they have been confirmed. it was a bad idea. he retired at the top of the game and should have stayed retired. it hasn't worked for anyone else and even a driver as good as he was can't pull it off.

I saw an interesting thing today. ferrari's F1 budget is still near $400mil. old redbull is 4th highest with only 204mil behind Ferrari, Mclaren and Mercedes. they are sure getting value for money these days.

so vettel wants to find finnish boys eh? at least it's now clear where his sexual preferences lie. not that there was ever much doubt....

lol, you sure are a fountain of (mis)information zebra!! but yeah spewing lofty is giving WTAC a pass this year. he can drive and they have been quietly playing with GTRs since jesus was in short pants. Jeff's shed is like an alladins cave of GTR. -
rear diffuser is an ARC item. as with many other bits on it (exhaust, strut brace, coolers etc). mate the guy on ebay is most likely a kid in melbourne hoping to make a massive buck as a middle man. he clearly doesn't actually have a car. he just wants you to go to him instead of Japo (I have no idea why anyone would). he just sold his PS2 and recently purchased a scale model of a lamborghini so you can see his ebay trading record is stout. I wouldn't buy it for about 50 different reasons but one of them is the name. who on earth actually WANTS a car called a "Japo Spec"? yeah that sounds soo much better than Nismo Z-tune.....
-
I am spewing I lost faith in webs last time out and didn't tip him for top 3. he's a bloody legend to get from way back to 3rd. go webber! and poor lil-d-2 had vettel as the winner and it somehow changed her pick to M schumacher? WTF she didn't even have schumacher in her top 10 so how is that possible? I thought you can only pick your top 3 from your top 10 and your winner from your top 3? glitch in the matrix....

Cr Kai's What Are They Worth?
Beer Baron replied to sogeCEO's topic in General Automotive Discussion
yeah, depending on offset and condition and tyres. with good tyres in good condition maybe $1200 but with one wheel sporting gutter rash maybe $1000. -
that is fking awesome!!! nice vid.

nice. just one question on the previous page pics. how do you get the injectors in if the rail is welded to the runners like that? i guess just have to lever it out of the way?
-
seen it done a few times in japan. can't remember off the top of my head who makes the 33 GTR kit though. it does look a bit funny to be honest but it's certainly functional.

there is no problem filling the tank and running the fuel for 1-3 months. also at say the 2 month point when it's a qtr full just top it up again. the fuel tank should have a check valve so it can breath out. the advantage of filling the tank is less air in the tank. being that the tank is under the car, and in a cool dark place with no UV or exposure to air it should last quite a long time. certainly 3 months would be no problem. the other problem with running the tank low is it concentrates all the dirt/silt etc that is in the tank into such a small quantity of fuel and can cause contamination.

Dunlop Direzza 03G Hard Or Medium?
Beer Baron replied to ike's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
suzuka is a great track. if you are not too worried about outright times, go the hards but the mediums will definitely give faster times. also depends what time of the year you are there. it's pretty cold in winter/autumn so if you're going in the cold months you may find the hards don't get enough heat into them to be useful in which case again you'll want mediums. for transit to and from the track I would run around 34psi. on the track somewhere between 30 and 34psi hot will be what works. need a bit of experimentation to see what works for you. depending on ambient and track temps the tyres will come up by different pressures. maybe start with 25-26psi first, do 2 flying laps them come in and check the pressures. yes temp across the tyre is important, try to get it as even as possible. the infra-red heat guns are ok, but for type temps are probe is much better. most of all, have fun. Suzuka is one of the best tracks in the world, quite fast but also quite technical and challenging. I know quite a few guys in that area (people from Voltex suzuka). it's a nice place. Hopefully you get to do the full track layout, the short layout is ok, but not the same. -
standard 34 GTR pump is no where near a nismo pump. nismo pumps are 276l/ph (same across 32/33/34). standard GTR pump are 195/lph (again same across 32/33/34). You can get a bit more out of them with a direct power feed as they flow a bit more at higher voltage but they are a long way from a nismo (flows 50% more).
-
I've actually found them to be pretty good. the GTR upgrade ones can be a bit mild but they are a good turbo. I would be happy to use some if they were the right price. not much evidence around though so people generally go the more proven options.

looks good mate. nice effort. hope it performs well.
