  1. yikes! he is definitely gunning for the hardest, fastest gear change award! a little mechanical sympathy can go a long way...
  2. that sucks mate. what a clown. trailer looks old and poorly maintained and clearly both car and trailer are loaded to bursting point. hope he paid for all the damage he caused.
  3. I'm still doing the F1 challenges in my borrowed ferrari. trying to earn some cash while I can as being not very far along in the game $$ is hard to come by. you'll like the 787B. just the sound it makes is pretty horny. especially it's grumpy idle. it's a handful to drive though without any aids.... I'd rate it harder to punt than the F1 cars. probably harder than the X2010 too as sure the X2010 is faster but it's heaps lighter and has mega aero and mechanical grip.
  4. rofl. nice one! would love to try it but only have one b-spec driver and he's currently level 2. need someone to add me to some remote races....
  5. I know it's too late now and was priced way more than what you ended up buying but the ORC singles are a fantastic clutch. they are built like a twin plate and can be upgraded to a twin in future if needed. they are very easy to use, easy to rebuild and take a serious pounding. very high quality and nice to use.
  6. direction of the slots is actually not that important. it's the direction of the vanes that is important. as dave said on different brand rotors the slots will go different ways, what matters is that if your rotor has directional vanes that you mount them correctly. most cheap rotors have non-directional vanes though so it doesn't really matter, but it pays to check.
  7. nah 33 and 34 all use 324mm front rotors. the only model with larger rears is the R34 N1... pretty rare though.
  8. bummer. that is sad news. I hope Joe wasn't over there when it happened.
  9. yeah good point. the tomei onse last a long time and can come on and off many times (you do need to make sure the head and the manifold surfaces are pretty flat though). the graphite nissan gaskets use their crush to seal nicely so once they are on, that's it. plus they tend to fall to bits when removed anyway. they cannot be reused.
  10. my advice, don't spend $80 on the hks filter, spend about the same money and get an apexi filter instead.
  11. yeah the MLS should be ok to re-use. 3 times is getting there but they have bugger all "crush" in them even from new so it could be fine. just do a visual inspection to make sure it's not damaged or blown anywhere and whack it in. some people reccomend a light coating of hylomar when re-fitting others will say never use hylomar on a MLS gasket. up to you. just make sure you check the head torque after a couple of heat cycles. RB26 oil system set-up including crankcase ventilation is a pretty divided topic. everyone seems to have different ideas on what works. makes it hard for the average bloke to hit the right set-up straight away.
  12. I fookin hate pikies! I dunno, it has some plus points in being small and light and (i hope) cheaper to buy too. on the downside the car is pretty exposed (would have to have someone rear end you are a set of lights!). plus if it's a track car it's going to put a fair bit of road wear on your semi's or you have to carry another pair of wheels with road tyres which is a bit of a hassle. but for the space challenged it's not a bad idea I guess. certainly beats having nothing.
  13. nice. hope you get a good view mate. it will be pretty cool to see an F1 car on the track at bathurst. definitely once in a lifetime. wish I had known earlier and made a little road trip!
  14. I did lol a bit. there was like 5 blokes there to watch and they looked like they just stumbled into it on their way somewhere. melbourne or sydney and it's packed 5 rows deep from the fence. i love perth. gold.
  15. SSS automotive one of the oldest and most established import businesses in aus. Joe and Geoff have been importing stuff from japan for a long time (like since the 90s). Joe also has what was one of, if not the first RB30 powered GTR in aus (over 10 years old now). it now has over 200,000kms on it! currently pumping out somewhere around 500kw atw. They both travel to japan frequently and Joe has spent years living there buying cars and parts and shipping them back. They have their own house, and big workshop and yard in japan. I really hope their stuff is ok. Both are great guys and work bloody hard for their money. http://www.sssautomotive.com.au/
  16. lol, I only have 1 bspec driver and he's a massive level 2.... long time before I get my own 07 fezz I think!
  17. thanks mate. muchos gracias. feel free to ask for anything cool you want. my garage is a bit thin, but the 787B has to be heard to be believed, the R35 GT500 car and the Maclaren F1 GTR are pretty horny too.
  18. hey mate, i've done the F1 seasonal now. they range between 150,000 and 200,000 for first place. I think it's worth it. they are pretty cool to drive and you need to stay pretty focussed and have fairly good reactions but they are by no means un-drivable. they are actually pretty fun. and yeah the 787 is a widow maker!!! it's 5X harder to drive fast than the F1 car for sure.
  19. I hope jenson doesn't bin it as lowndes is going second... hope he has fun. the old boy deserves a little taste of F1... it would be pretty hairy around the top of the mountain I reckon...
  20. well done! yeah I have tried and failed to flare one before. it's not easy but I can see it could be made to work. solid lines are the best way for as much length as you can use them for so it's a good idea. they are not porous so no smell and much cheaper than running meters of telfon line with stainless braid. diff mount looks interesting too.
  21. the oem gaskets are good but for exhaust manifold gaskets I would go tomei. being a multi-layer steel gasket they work very well and are re-usable too. as mentioned above SR20 gaskets were the same graphite type composite gasket until nissan changed to MLS gaskets for the S15.
  22. be careful with the ezi-outs. many times I've seen a broken stud with a broken ezi-out in there..... and being really high tensile when the ezi-outs break they are fking hard to drill out and remove.
  23. i've had no real problems with tomei valve guides. they do wear, i mean they are a head service item after all but it's not alarmingly fast. think of them a bit like a bearing. there is friction between the valve stem and the valve guide. something has to wear. either the valve stem or the guide.... there is oil there to lubricate so not a huge amount of wear but over time they need replacing.
  24. nath, flaring the ends of the hicas lines so you can run a regular AN male fitting is the go, BUT the hicas lines are farking hard to flare. you need a decent flaring tool to do it and probably have to heat the line up a bit too. I'm not sure that I could get a nice flare on them. failing that plenty of people just use the tool that gives you are raised bump around the circumference and then run a push on type fitting with hose clamp. not ideal but they will work if done right. if your flaring for the AN coupling make sure you don't forget to slide the nut on first!!
  25. yeah the 2.8 was used in the GT cars RB26 engines. they used it in the z-tune too. it's a good set-up. yeah nismo intake is very nice. pretty pricey but they do give some midrange gains.
