  1. they are a shitload more accurate that you saying your car has 190rwkw because you 'think' it does...
  2. dude, power = heat. a powerful NA car is going to cost more money to get it hauling and still put out shit loads of heat and need to be just as well tuned as any turbo car. try getting 250hp out of a 2litre NA. then try getting 250HP out of a 2 litre turbo and tell me which one is more cranky on track and which is hotter and which is more likely to punch a rod through the block some day, and which one of them needs mega $ rods and pistons etc to keep it alive. I love NA cars as much as the next bloke but your reasoning for wanting one over your CA turbo is nonsense. sorry but it's true. if you really just want an NA track car something like weevils gay MX5 is a good idea, or any 90s civic or integra, S2000 engine into an S14 is about the most expensive way on earth to get 180kw into an S14 since they come with 170 standard and an exhaust and boost would get you there with standard everything else. or spend $15K on the S2000 engine conversion..... lol.
  3. lol, you are old! and it's not really weight reduction either since most carbon interior stuff like that is wrapped or coated meaning you have the original part AND another layer so there'd be an increase in weight (pretty minor but still funny). I do find a lot of that stuff does look a bit nicer in real life than in pics. but agree it's not 100% my cup of tea either.
  4. it's a super cool car. been in it a few years ago when in tokyo it was blue. it's been cool seeing the changes gio made to it over the years and it certainly has had a lot of cool bits on it. it's owned by an ex pat aussie in japan too. Gio. well not any more.......
  5. I 100% agree with trent here. you are using the wrong grade of oil. power = heat. 800hp is a lot of power. a 0/40 is not up to the task. a 15w50 much better. personally i don't rate the mobil ones very highly and would chose a motul but if you are happy with mobil then use it but at least use the right grade for the right purpose.
  6. that looks like a good set-up. any idea on price for just the cockpit?
  7. dude, stop banging your head against the wall and just buy the ID1000s trent suggested. they are dirt cheap at $100 each and he just told you they run fine. he has first hand experience with them and recommends them. what more do you need?
  8. head room is fine but where do I put my ciggie buts? boss coffee or chu-hi cans? and leg and elbow room not to mention gut room could be a problem...
  9. yeah I would think twice about using a heavy duty clutch on a big power car with a stock RB30 flywheel. do a search for jim berry clutches on this forum and check out the number of people who have had flywheel/clutch explosions using them. including one poor bloke whose car was so badly damaged it was written off with firewall and chassis rail damage (even guard and bonnet damage and engine block damage) which his jim berry clutch exploded at the start line on the drag strip with about 350kw. it's up to you buy on cars with that much power I would think a new performance flywheel would be a no brainer.
  10. yeah just like the fuel pressure gauge the defi fuel pressure gauge has a min warning, and also peak hold and of course record functionality. I would seriously chuck the current boost gauge and controller from the supra into the GTR and add the fuel press gauge to go with it. being able to have it display the differential pressure is a massive advantage over other gauges and really useful. makes it so easy to diagnose reg problems, pump problems etc. and of course you don't have to watch it all the time. can just do a quick run on record then play it back later, or just watch it a bit, set the warning level and then leave it alone.
  11. hey, he has taken P1 in qualy before against these blokes and won before too. hell he won his first race even with a drive through if my memory is correct. he is the master at overcoming adversity. hell by rights he is too big to even fit into an F1 car yet here he is! GO WEBBER!!!
  12. agree with both sentiments there buddy. either naked through the city with mark webber is #1 across my back in body paint, or sitting at home crying and punching my tv whilst my RBR cap is on fire... and yes farking RBR, they really should have let webber take brazil, those 7 points would make this weekend a much better proposition and would even them up for ferrari's dodgy-ness. COME ON WEBBER OLD SON!!! YOU CAN DO IT MATE!!!
  13. agree with this part of your post 10000%. the penalty does not fit the crime. why is it that a motorist, who does the right thing and watches the road instead of having his eyes glued to his speedo, who on a 110 zone hits 120km/h down a hill is suddenly up for a severe fine and a loss of points that can mean loss of income, loss of mobility all for something which had absolutely no impact on anyone elses liberty or enjoyment of their lives? Yet a bloke who decide to bash someone in the face can go to court and get a good behaviour bond (aka nothing as isn't everyone bound by the rules of society to not break laws?) and court costs of $60... so a person who has assaulted someone and greatly impacted upon their enjoyment of life is told he now has to obey laws and pays $60 a motorist who exceeds the speed limit slightly gets a couple hundred $ in fines and a loss of liberty. does that seem right to anyone? Conversely I recently spend some time driving in different countries in europe. over there if someone chooses to drive down the fast lane in their R35 or ferrari at 180km/h then people get out of their way and let them go. it doesn't impact on my enjoyment of the road if this bloke wants to blast by so I move out of the overtaking lane and let him through. not like here where people take a speeding motorist as a personal affront and do everything possible to block them in whilst tootling along 5km/h below the limit. also on that note I broke the law and got a speeding fine. doing 63 in a 50 zone. wanna know what it cost? 15 euro. that's right, $20. that seems about right to me and I'm happy to pay it and accept that I did the wrong thing. I didn't bash someone in the face and accordingly the punishment fits the 'crime'... the way we carry on propaganda campaigns against speeding in this country and the draconian penalties are completely out of whack with what society wants and purely another form of tax that small minded people accept under the banner of safety. it needs to change.
  14. lol, yeah me not count so good!!! it was 3500kms a MONTH not a week. somehow I did 44,000 / 12 and skipped straight to weeks... funky could be right it could be a ex prestige car club car. they do rack up a fair few kms...
  15. they are testing twin turbo IWG applications at the moment on a couple of GTRs. I have some pics but not sure if I can share them yet, but set-up looks good. all that remains to be seen is results.
  16. VFT..... edit: sorry to be more specific. VFT for RB25 VVFT for RB26...
  17. sounds very much like a blown off hose somewhere between turbo compressor outlet and the throttle inlet. very common, hear a big bang or pop, loose boost etc. 9 times out or 10 a hose will have popped off. sometimes they can be hard to spot as they will look like they're still on but there is a gap on the back etc. check all the hose joiners before you start looking at the big ticket failures.
  18. nope, short motor is no head. with head is long motor.
  19. my pick if you want a little more power and still excellent response? trust T518Z 8cm2. great turbo. on my S13 it makes around 230kw at the rear wheels on 16psi and gives great midrange. they are a well matched turbo to the SR20.
  20. not sure a tomei engine is $40K either.... but yeah it's a good package for $10K no question.
  21. as far as 2.6 GTRS set-ups go, yours with E85 looks very good. and yes it doesn't look much laggier than an average 2530 set-up either. the simple fact is with a 2.6L engine you are never going to have 600hp + and get standard engine response. it's impossible and even standard GTRs are fairly gutless under 4,500rpm. your power may be a bit lower than average GTRS @ 25psi but that could be due to the 3inch flanged cat. you may find it makes more power even at 25psi without that restriction but even if not 425awkw is not to be sneezed at. it's a buttload of power in any car. and at those power levels even a small 10% variance in dyno numbers is nearly 50kw differece so on another dyno you could easily 'get' 460kw which is about right. also your's is AWKW not RWKW which is often quoted. all round it looks like a very nice set-up and a pretty good shape to the power graph too.
  22. let me guess. trust power evolution II, exhaust? great exhaust and will definitely make the power. of all the 'off the shelf' jap exhausts they are the grand daddy for flow while still giving some semblance of muffling! I have one for my 32 GTR. it currently runs a 90mm titanium trust exhaust but seriously thinking about putting on the power evo even though it's mild steel... they sound great too. love the under car surge and pump set-up. very neat. nice work. The graph looks quite nice too. stil a bit laggy. but once it picks up it's fantastic. certainly much better than most 2.6 GTRS set-ups. interesting to compare to the 2L GTI-R just above yours. even with 600cc less engine it makes about the same power up to about 135km/h. in fact at some points low down it's ahead slightly I think! not much of a contest for outright power though...
  23. yeah if unable to undo it you'll need to get a long breaker or breaker and jack handle and brace against the chassis rail or on the ground like sarumatix said then use the starter to get it loose.
  24. yep, standard motor with -5s I'd be putting on the cam gears. they are not super hard to fit and after an hour or two dyno time you should have a good result. doing the cams on the other hand can be a bitch if you need shims etc. I would save them and use in conjunction with some headwork.
  25. yep, I use a Defi BF fuel pressure gauge. very good. easy to install, easy to use, easy to read and has one awesome feature I've not seen on any other brand. if you also have the boost pressure gauge (and who hasn't) it can display what they call 'differential pressure' so what it does is remove vacuum or boost from fuel pressure so you can see the actual pressure. this makes it very easy to spot if something's going wrong. see you have the regs base pressure (approx 3 bar in a skyline standard) and then vacuum reduces it, and boost increases it. so when driving it will be fluctuating all over the place. switch the gauge on to diff mode and it should just sit on 3 bar moving only slightly. because it's showing you the difference between total fuel pressure and boost pressure. very handy. and makes it very easy to diagnose any fuel supply problems etc.
