  1. pretty sure it's a sydney car. was sold in parramatta sydney, still with it's original owner, and now for sale again in sydney. would be a good buy in the $30K range somewhere but will most likely go higher. very nice to see with original books etc.
  2. the electric single seater is cool. definitely not gaijin size friendly. well maybe 12yo gaizin size... lol Man walks into a bar carrying a tiny piano........
  3. well everyone is biased towards certain brands but for nice clean SQ at that price range I'd be looking at boston accoustics. they do some great splits that give very nice SQ and can still get loud.
  4. yeah it will be worth a look. nothing wrong with japanese honda tuning. and this is coming from a bloke who has owned approx 20 skylines and a total of zero hondas but they still make some great cars and there are some great honda tuners in japan.
  5. lol, good times. I have to say have been to a few maid cafes over the years and it's not as great as you might think... still something that is uniquely japanese I guess. anyone who can do the neko pose in super kawaii fashion will find lots of friends on the maid train no doubt...
  6. changing the outer lip on 3 piece wheels wont change caliper clearance at all.
  7. my engine has cams in it because it was designed for circuit use and lives between 5,000rpm and 8,000rpm. it has a few things different to most. 1, it runs 4.4:1 diff gears so it spends more time at higher revs than most. it also has an extensively ported head designed to get the most out of the cams (and vice versa), it also runs upgraded valve springs etc. it was going to be mated to either GT-SS (but at 25psi) or a set of 2530s. with a standard head and GTSS cams would not be my first choice. I would go straight for a set of cam gears and get them tuned (but I've said this about 12 times now). yes I have owned a GTR with GTSS and poncams (now sold to a mate of mine in WA) and it went well but that was done to eek a bit more power out of small-ish turbos. in that case the set-up was already super responsive and with lots of good tuning it worked out ok, but again it had headwork to compliment those changes. my new GTR has a set of pon-cams too (can't get away from them!) and 2530s but is a Jun 2.7 stroker engine. to be honest I will think pretty hard about replacing the pon-cams with something else, but I'll see how it goes first.
  8. looks good. nice height I reckon. I wouldn't go much lower for a car you still want to drive regularly.
  9. it's a 1990 model and way over priced....
  10. well it is much the same as japan except a bit easier as people in the US and the UK speak a rough approximation of english. you either need a broker/agent here who has contacts there. or you need to find an exporter in that country who buys cars for customers overseas. how to get one you can trust is a lottery so with that in mind it may be worth instead hooking up with a broker/agent here who has some experience and has established a reliable connection overseas.
  11. hehe. well it's more just the feeling that you're revving the nuts off the thing just to do a quickish cruising speed. and I've had pretty quiet GTRs. even had one with a stock exhaust. current grey 32 has no mufflers at all. that's right. nothing between turbine wheel and complete open tip. its fairly loud but not as loud as many would think due to fairly well designed exhaust and of course two little turbos keep it quiet-ish.
  12. bummer. someone taxed them
  13. to be honest it really depends on what state. as in both what state it was originally registered in and which state you want to register it in now. I can't give 100% answer and neither can the roads authority in your state. ring them 5 times and you will get 5 different answers to a question that only has 2 options... but basically like iron chef said 15yo stuff was state based basic rego and adr requirements how that was interpreted differed pretty strongly from state to state so it can be a hassle or it could be a piece of piss. only one way to find out.....
  14. yeah my old grey GTR ran over 112mph with about 260rwkw consistently.
  15. there are sometimes regs about location of isolator switch for certain classes and cars. usually it's base of the a pillar. on the scuttle panel and marked with the blue triangle with lightening bolt.
  16. HKS GT-SS come with the adjustable heavy duty actuators already fitted to the turbos. no need to buy another set.
  17. very true. unless RBR make vettel do the same for webber, at least then they'll be even. those 7 points are proving crucial. right not webs would be just 1 point behind instead of 8. big difference.
  18. I will certainly change my tune on vettel if he moves over to let webs take a win and a WDC. that's a big call to make and if he's a big enough man to do that for the team then maybe I've got him all wrong. let's see what happens. hopefully he wont have to and webber will just win it on merit. he has won the odd GP you know...
  19. yeah it's not for everyone. if you do a lot of freeway driving at 110-120 it's going to get annoying buzzing along at 3500rpm+ in 5th all the time.
  20. exactly. 15yo rule 'compliance' (i use the word loosely) was a state thing. so each state had a slightly different interpretation of what needed to be done to 15yo imports to meet basic ADR and registration requirements in each state. so a car imported under the 15yo rule and registered in say qld, then sold and brought to NSW will most likely have to undergo some changes and at the least will need the engineers inspection.
  21. brisby does like his pipe licked.....
  22. it's a sexual piece of pipe. i've always loved it brisby. best RB20 standard plenum pipe out there.
  23. good news mate. sounds great. for the thermostat try earls in silverwater - sydney. they are much more reasonably priced than they used to be.
  24. wow, they do that in victoria too. standard practice here if they see something or someone they don't like is: * quickly and needless accelerate and break speed limit if neccessary to close distance between themselves and their 'suspect' * commence tailgating 'suspect' at a distance of no more than 1/8th of a bees dick off the 'suspects' rear bumper to try and scare them into doing something dangerous * continue tailgating till they are satisfied. this means either the 'suspect' has panicked and done something wrong, or sufficient time has passed and they are now bored. * hit lights and sirens and commence 'random breath test' if no offences have been committed Yes, I would love to see that. what is it with people in australia who love to form the rolling blockade? and as you come up behind them they look all offended like you are hooning along. in any other country people just get out of your way for a moment, let you pass and then get on with their lives. in australia prepare to spend 10mins stuck behind someone who wants to drive slower than you do and feels the need to enforce their self imposed speed limit onto you for some reason. Agree with both those points. and your example is perfectly valid and happens all the time. as soon as you start leaving appropriate gaps between yourself and the car in front you quickly find yourself going backwards as car after car takes this as an invitation to invade your safe braking zone and get into that space. I am dead against any of these monitoring systems or car mounted gear. it's all bad and all totally unnecessary. It's impact on the road toll is also highly debatable. just like fixed speed camers which also do nothing to help lower the road toll. good roads, safe cars and education lower the road toll. not fining people for doing 53 in a 50 zone.
