  1. I know i've driven the v8 R8 on the track and i didn't say it was a GTR beater!! just competitor. have not had a 'proper' drive of a v10 so I don't really know how they perform but it must surely be better than the 8. but I was just pointing out no way is the R35 a RS5 competitor, I agreed with you. in comparing those two the audi is the car that's overpriced.
  2. nice. they looks pretty cool.
  3. the steam cleaning done for quarantine is only the outside of the car and engine bay (usually between the radiator and a/c cores). they have a gurney type thing that shoots steam and they spray under the car, up the wheel arches and in the engine bay. nothing is done inside the car.
  4. same principal as cars like FD RX7 and Supra and TT soarers. they are a sequential or 'staged' turbo system. it's not as simple as two differentl sized turbos. you need a complex arrangment of valves and piping on both the intake and exhaust side to make it work. GTR is 100% parrallel system. both turbos feed a common inlet. so no you cannot run 2 different sized turbos. well you could but it won't run very nicely. they are a good idea but in practice too difficult to make reliable and for outright performance two equal sized turbos in parallel is the way to go.
  5. no bearing in the cam gears... they are just a gear bolted to the end of the camshaft. unless your car has some kind of VCT?
  6. yeah R35 is more comparable with R8 if we are talking audi product. both in placement and performance. what's aus retail on an R8 these days?
  7. they will be a good thing. that is all.
  8. oh man. so tempted to buy this too. I have a stock RB26 out of my 94 model R32 in perfect condition. could have it on the road pretty cheaply. damn you trent. if I could sell the last silvia I bought off you quickly I'd buy this in a heart beat. BTW, sad to see you selling. hopefully something new on the cards for Cat? for anyone else considering this car. it's a steal for $15K. at around $5K for a used RB26 or $10K-$15K for something special you would have a top level RB S13 for $20K or so. in fact the ultimate plan would be buy this car, and buy my Prime Garage Nur engine and bolt the two together.
  9. exactly. the 0.53 AR R34 standard turbo is a physically smaller housing than the 0.42AR R34 N1 housing. they are a good thing. I think from memory GT-SS are 0.64 AR rear and 0.42 AR comp too? could be wrong that's off the top of my head. but as you say there is a garret equivalent bolt on turbo for GTR in the same 0.42 comp AR with 0.64 AR rear.
  10. can't see it working on an RB engine. sure the cap may fit (think oil filler cap is the same as subaru) but the thing is. on a skyline we vent crankcase gas from the cam covers. oil filler cap is where? you guessed it. on the cam covers. It may kind of work I guess if the vapour can feed from the two points into this thing and then out it's single outlet to your intake piping. but considering the bottom of the device will be under the same pressure as the two breather hoses how could anything 'flow' into it? I think the difference is on a subie the oil filler cap is going directly to the (vented) sump so there is no pressure on the underside of the cap. not the case in a RB nissan.
  11. fair enough. well given how cheaply you scored them, and given that they are second hand and possibly not what you think they are I'd say it's worth spending $100-$150 getting them cleaned and flow tested. any good workshop or EFI specialist place can do it for you and then you'll know EXACTLY what they flow. I agree fuel system is deadly important. definitely not an area I ever skimp on.
  12. nice result noel you crusty old man. although it really is way too much power just to drive to bingo on sundays but I guess you can get there early for prime seating. hehe. seriously though that's a kick ass looking set-up mate. hope it gives solid service for years to come.
  13. yeah there are definitely R34 N1s with .64 exhaust AR and 0.42 comp AR and ones with same exhaust but .60 comp AR. guys AR is not the size of the thing. it's a ratio. ratio of area to radius. yes generally housings with a smaller AR ratio are physically smaller but it's not necessarily true, they are a different shape. size of wheels etc is needed too so you can tell if a turbo is physically bigger or smaller and it's power potential.
  14. PM-R33 is right. dyno's torque measurement is highly suspect. and the simple fact is power = torque. yes the exact numbers can vary but there is a very fixed relationship between power, torque and RPM. so unless your car makes it's 170kw at 2,500rpm it's torque production will not be fantastic. given all our skylines rev to somewhere between 7500 and 8500rpm and all make peak power somewhere above 6,000rpm the amount of torque produced wont vary massively form car to car with similar amounts of power. ie. if power is the same, rpm is the same. torque will be pretty close. you can move the curve around a bit with different tuning techniques and different parts but the peak won't change too much.
  15. yeah I would advise you to seek some form of legal representation too. they know how the machinery works, all the procedures, even little things like how to address the court etc. your attitude is pretty good which is usually picked up by perceptive magistrates so that will help. best of luck and hopefully you get a good outcome.

    Ozgtroc

yeah there is. but it's called SAU instead.
  17. I think RCCC may be right. I would say new car will be priced at or very close to $200K. price in japan also has risen. it should see demand for used models stay fairly steady. bad news for those hoping for a massive drop in used values. I think they will remain fairly solid based on the up-coming price increase.
  18. lol. fair enough. it is between you and the other parties involved after all. hopefully something good comes out of it.
  19. yep, and then add to that the costs incurred in gaining compliance for that model in the first place and they need to be apportioned over the number of soarers they intend to comply. so we are well over the $2,000 in costs just to break even. and that's assuming the car is in perfect condition and that everything goes smoothly and that no non-standard parts need to be removed. Good example and it's easy to see why at $2,000 it's pretty hard for a workshop to make any money. but as has been mentioned before in a lot of ways they are cutting their own throats. anyway, not to say you did anything wrong eps. you paid what he asked thus keeping your end of the deal. and he chose not to complete his part properly. it probably would have been good (both for you and for him) to contact him first with your concerns over work not done and give him a chance to rectify it before you went to dotars etc. but that's your choice. can you pm me the gentleman's name? thanks.
  20. yep, plus I think now there is a bit less pressure on. he's now in the spot with nothing to loose and everything to gain. there is no prize for finishing second in the championship so it should be time to rock out with his cock out and bag a win.
  21. surely RBR can dish out some of ze punishment at brazil. no really big straights there, but some big fast corners. COME ON OLD SON!!!!
  22. T04Z is actually a pretty average turbo. very old school parts sort of mated together and modernised a bit. they are as laggy (or laggier) as GTRS and only make 2530 power. straight 6 engines are made for a nice set of small-ish twin turbos.
  23. lol, I'm worthy! promise!! lots of available bandwidth here.
  24. PS can someone please pm me a racing underground invite? I haven't been on in a year or two and have can't find my account. I'm a good seeder... promise.
