What You Hate About Your Skyline Thread
jakez88 posted a topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
This isn't a dissing skylines thread or anything just really interested in what you all think about your cars and what makes you think wtf were the nissan designers/engineers thinking. God knows i love my skyline to death but theres some things i just wish was better like all things i guess. Theres the simple and obvious ones but more about your personal preferences on the cars overall, accesories, a specific thing in your own car and after market products. This might also be a good guide for people to look out for when buy a skyline. Really just wanna compare and understand more about our cars faults so feel free to contribute. maybe a template would be good? Year: Model: Trans: Fault/cons: Other comments: i'll start the ball rolling Year:1992 Model: R32 Skyline Gts-t Coupe Trans: Manual Fault/cons: 1. Fastest speed on wipers to slow for storm rain 2. power steering/hicas system Comments: 1. It might be just on r32's or my r32 but has anyone noticed how much faster the fastest speed is comapred to the second fastest for our wipers? its not faster at all...in a storm when rain is beating the windscreen and it is complemented by wind i really struggle and can hardly see anything that sometimes i ahve to slow right down so i don't smash into something. 2. there always seems to be something wrong with it nowadays that the cars are much older. lines are either leaking, the hicas system has seized or stopped working like mine, steering goes hard and so on. -
i'll see how i go with this one man...might be cramming to get my assignments done lolz...but most likely will be there. bring ur crew also and hopefully some of my friends might come out.
-
^^^ out of interest use bp ultimate and tell us how you go as i noticed a slight difference changing from v power to ultimate.

anyone bet? anyone bet on the view? anyone win money? anyone win enough to buy a hks gtr-s turbo kit? my brother was talking about betting on the view for the whole day as him and his mates at work had a little betting thing going on and he bet on the view...and the bastard won..probably only $50 though lol.

^^^ lolz thats funny as... neons are so gay man...i cringe whenever i see some one with them on..especially if they are excels/lancers/civics...yes for show but not for the road...then again i would never put them on a show car.

given it some gas when starting? maybe starter motor?

Engine, Gearbox And Diff Oil Being Changed
jakez88 replied to jakez88's topic in General Maintenance
any details on the oils...motuls engine oils are abit pricey especially for semi synth turbolight and group ii oil? haven't really seen motuls gear aand diff oils though. 75w-90 semi synth good for my gear box? can anyone at all tell me what to get for my diff? -
i don't think its very good at all...warming up your car on idle for a long time isn't good for your engine anyway. should warm your car up by driving gently and conservatively till your car reaches nominal operating temp.
-
dayum...what a shopping list...can't wait to see the finshed product.
-
^^ lolz i reckon the front is bad and the rear is normal i guess for a wagon. r34 gtr front fixes that up though but then again a legnum/galant looks good as stock.
-
i had a r32 gtst with plenty of bolt on mods including a t04e highmount turbo setup. when i first bought the car i tested the fuel economy and got 300kms for a full tank as it was running rich as. checked over the engine to see if i needed to change anything before a good tune and i noticed the oil was black as. changed it over with fresh synthetic and got 50kms extra from that. so i guess do what you can and its usually the small things that can make a big difference and maybe a good retune will make it perfect.

geez...woulda thought u guys were from sydney.

its not bad but it looks like in that price you might be paying the importers a few grand in profit. i've seen manual galant/legnums on www.j-spec.com go for $12,000-$15,000 landed and complied so that would just a around $2000 for insurance and rego and then your off. maybe check out the www.j-spec.com site and contact the guys as they do come past really good cars. if you cant buy right now maybe it would be good to pay the deposit fee first if you found a good one and wait till you can pay the rest when it lands but yeh as your importing from japan you won't be able to see it yourself except for a few hundred pictures they take for you. the good thing is that i've heard only good things about them so check them out. Iron chef i think has imported a few good deals too.

Gm Shows Off 6 New Camaro Concepts
jakez88 replied to craig V8 taffe's topic in General Automotive Discussion
not sure if those ones will but i know the normal ones will. i saw a yellow one under all that black covering stuff driving down princess fwy just near the western ring road exit. they do tend to stick out abit. just bear in mind that the w427 is a luxury performance sedan while the camaro is a sports coupe so 2 different segments here. -
yeh jsut comes out from their system depending on the year of 32 you have...i remember with my last 32 which was a 89 model it had 1200 on there which would clearly make it over power to weight. my current 32 which is a 92 came with 1400 which is over. if you you have a 89 or 90 skyline you can be questioned as i have heard that they are lighter then the series 2 r32's hence why i made sure i got a 91 and up one lol just in case.
-
that sounds good as considering the galant/legnum is much newer and would whoop my r32's ass in a drag stock for stock.
-
i drive one on my green p's and i got my license in april 2006 so if your in the same boat as me should be all good. other wise...what they said^^^^ lol
-
i'm very biased as a evo fan and i always try to find faults with the impreza's even though i do admit that they are nice cars but it is trye that they are lacking in the exterior design department. I have no idea why they haven't stayed with one design theme for example mazda/bmw/honda but thats probably just cause all their designs were shit LoL. On the other hand a standard 195kw is massive. hopefully the new ralliart lancer can stand up to it. The evo X with the 217kw does have a bit over the sti though.
-
actually i was pretty interested in what galant/legnums get with a full tank of petrol. How big is the tank? if it goes better then my r32 i'll be very happy lolz. $80-85 to fill up to full and get just under 500kms using bp for my r32.
-
^^nice mate. the super vr4s are the rarer ones right? only available in auto/manual? thats not ur skid mark in the first pic is it lolz
-
^^^^i'd also take a legnum over a stagea any day. Drive train is awesome borrowing alot of the technology including the AYC from the CE series evos. They would be awesome as a family car and i'm thinking of getting one so i can transfer my drums around alot easier. I'm a bit biased as i'm an evo guy myself owning a lancer gsr for my first car but i reckon the legnum just looks better overall as well. like this one

Engine, Gearbox And Diff Oil Being Changed
jakez88 replied to jakez88's topic in General Maintenance
any other recommendations? i'm more worried about the gear box and diff oils then engine oil as i've made up my mind about getting the castrol edge sport 5W-30. the nulon stuff sounds good? also for the r32 owners how much oil is needed for engine, gearbox and diff?
